  1. Thank you all for the comments..................................... finally have a decent buff on the body...too humid to do any kind of paint work on anything tho......pictures don't do it justice I want to do fuzzy carpet but cant get to the store until next week for materials.......................
  2. Maybe you could train them to install suspension parts
  3. brushed some clear on this today and buffed it out a little,,,,,,might be getting close to final buffing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but before the pictures a few points to think about,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The actual car did not have side windows nor did it have a motor....in other words it was a shell with an interior. The frame was a simple rail frame with no detailing although it did have a gas tank out of fiberglass............curious set of equipment.... GM said the scrapped a lot of the show cars but they have been showing up a lot more the past 10 years, which leads to was this car really scrapped or is it still sitting in the scrape yard or a garage someplace.................... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  4. thank you for the comments,,,,,both good and others,,,,,,,I will leave it at that and go forward...................................
  5. did some work on the grill bumper...still needs some adjustments and changes,,,,,,also time for color check raw color and no clear coat........ I am hoping the color appears close enough to the original....there is one problem that I have on this and that is the photos are 60 years old and on the net so I am not sure of the true color,,,,,,, will have the interior colors stared tomorrow.....................
  6. then delete me and all my posts if you think I am being unduly critical of some peoples comment...I will leave the forum if that is what people want,,,,,,,being critical is fine but unduly mean is beyond that,,,,,
  7. I am not sure where this is to be posted but here goes anyway. Many people have been following my attempts over the years knowing that I work with a few files and an exxacto knife. I don't have a lot of tools to work with and a very limited budget so some things I want to do I just go with what I have. I am not a great modeler but hash together some creditable models upon occasion. Recently I have posted a few things that some people have found imperfections with and maybe a better part is available to use. True,,,,,but when I post a wish list to get those parts and I am offered things other than the wish list those parts are not gotten so I have to deal with what I have. Most of my recent builds are done with glue bombs and dollar store rattle cans for paint...........the best I can afford. The point I am trying to make is that if you think you can do better with what I have then don't bitch...............................prove it. A lot of great models are shown here and some dogs.but I don't see anyone complaining about the outcome. People do the best they can with what they have....and why tear into someones hard work anyway...what does it prove, nothing. I will continue with a few builds posting as I go, if you don't like what I do don't bother telling me, I know all too well what the short comings are. If you think I am doing a creditable model let me know. Nothing grinds worse than posting and getting ignored. I have a small following that feels that I do decent work, and will continue, albeit very limited way posting my work. If there is someone that can help setting up a decent web site to show my models it would be nice since everything I do is not posted and less will be from here on it. I will post only a limited amount or work as long as it is appreciated. My completed projects will not be shown under glass anymore. The last one has been deleted since no one thought it was worthy of being posted. My 56 Buick Centurion has been canceled because when I post in the trades list for things I needed I got replies for everything but what was on the list, Hence the project is tabled. I do find this the best of the forums and enjoy most of the people here. I would also like to be able to get to some shows but when I ask about them on the show page my requests draw no comments, I am trying to find shows in the twin-cities but they seem to be non existent and the local shows are very small and once a year....maybe 5 or 6 people enter. Thank you for letting me spout off and if the post is deleted by the administrators I will understand, enuff said. KennB
  8. I am working up the interior...I am using Corvette seats diverging from the bench seat shown in the photo,,,,,,
  9. nothing is as one thinks at first..................................................
  10. I got the wheels in a trade specifically for this build,,,,,,,,,,maybe Maserati or Ferrari...he was not sure. I agree that they look like they were made for this build.......
  11. revised side trim and rear roof pillar,,,,,,,,,,,,,,needs to be finished yet......................
  12. the dash is starting to come in,,,,I reworked the side trim and roof some....... for the front glass i will try to vacuform it....................need to make a mold first.............
  13. I appreciate all the comments and suggestions....Rusty,,,I don't think you are critical....just offering opinions,,,good ones too thank you..I am taking them to task to get some of the things fixed that needed to be that can be fixed. Some revisions are being don and one that has bothered me from the beginning may get adjusted,,,,,it is one that would be very difficult to do. One thing people are forgetting is that I can and do spend 8 to 10 hours a day on building some models when I get into them...If I had anything else to do this would be week 5 of the build at least...........................I am not fast,,,just have a lotttttttttt of time.
  14. totally correct.......................... thanks so far for all the help and ideas,,,,,,they have brought to mind a whole new thought of the build...the problem would be getting some of the parts...so far I am looking at the following,,,,other ideas still wanted though 60 caddy rear bumper,,, ,57 Buick body 75 to 80 Corvette front clip...basically for the hood. 58 Chevy rear clip 50-51 Studebaker front clip--hoods 64 Galaxie interior for the seats The predicta would be a close start but would need a lot of work to get the rounded shapes.. now finding parts...................................and maybe more thinking................... The roof would have to be scratch built....no other way....I could start with a top but after cutting for the glass there would be nothing left.................... Keep the ideas rolling thanks to everyone so far
  15. THIS PROJECT IS CANCELED
  16. you are absolutely correct It you take more time you will see the multitude of things that ate not totally right with it, but it does give a good representation of the car,
  17. interior start..the dash is scratch built since there is nothing even close. side with interior and wire wheels
  18. Ready to go to casting......the inside has been finished as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,not as nice as the outside but decent. [/url ]
  19. Thanks for all the comments.........body is primed and ready for block sanding.............while the primer is drying I will work on the interior................................................ as a side note it is about the same size as a 58 Impala
  20. I ripped the front window out this morning,,,,,,i did not like how it turned out ....made a lot of changes and I think it has improved 100%. There also was some changes to the side window sills. When we take a model out of the box we make an assumption that they are the same on both sides. What we don't see is that they may look close they are, in reality, not the same. There are small differences. The rear wheel wells on one of the v\corvettes were not the same curve or size,,,side to side. Close enough for 99% of the applications. I an not says I am better than the manufactures but that it is a fact. Mine will obviously have some differences because of the way I build.
  21. got the front windshield framed in tonight put the grill in to see the teeth.......................... now I have to make the glass for this.........................
  22. front wheel wells were moved back 1/4 inch and the the space directly behind the wheel wells were cut out and swapped side to side to get the curve correct. the rear clip was cut out as shown and moved back 3/8 inch to bring the overall body length to 202 inches. the yellow panel is from a 53 vette to have the top line of the fenders correct to top was cut out of the 58 chevy donor and is cut into the corvette body. I added a 1/24th 53 corvette grill. It has more meat to it and closer to what is needed.. There are parts to 5 different vettes on this so far,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,last post for today...enjoy it is getting closer. Not all vettes are created equal...even in the same scale they do not match up to each other...there are little differences between manufacturers so there is a little fudging to do or filing to get parts to fit. I have the frame started...I had to add 1 " to the length. I started to do the front steering and found I don't have all the parts,,,,I am missing spindles. Might rob them out of a new 58 corvette kit. The body is taking shape along with the side spears. lot of sanding and filling and sanding little low spots or pin holes....I may have a coat of primer on this week end. Then I have to finish the chassis and the interior...
  23. i will be getting to those.....there is a lot of work to do on the little details...thank you for commenting and pointing that out
  24. got the fodder to be cut up today to get this project running,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,have scale photos to work from and input from a pew people I have met along the way.......................will have a list of contributors later as I get the remainder of the parts......see my lastest traders list for my wish list.
