  1. The original plan for this was to make a black car with an accent color. So trying a black primer was only natural. Very little touch up will be needed, mainly some sanding where the ca glue has shown up around the front fenders and wasn't completely sanded down. That's one of the reasons for a primer coat in the first place, to see things like that, right? This is the Very first time ever I am using this particular kind of primer. It is Dupli-Color DAP 1698 Black Hot Rod. $10 at my O'Rileys. Went on perfect, altho it looks really weird at first before it dries. I'm still leaning towards black on the body, altho thoughts of Nardo Grey are starting to creep in. Another important thing of this build is to chill and sip on a fine beverage. No stress or rush. Just enjoy it. A Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye Whisky does the job just fine. ?
  2. I decided to try something new with this one and use Duplicolor Hot Rod Black primer. This was sprayed straight from the can. It is weird how it works and how it changes during the curing process. First it would look very grey and like it's almost transparent and very wet and shiny. My first reaction was that I didn't shake the can enough. But you let it dry and it becomes very black and very smooth with this silky satin finish to it. Wait a day and it is definitely flat black. Like almost powdery chalk-like surface. I decided to shave the door handles and there were some minor imperfections, which were addressed with Tamiya putty What I liked to see was that the Tamiya putty did not eat up into the black right away. I mean it will eventually, but it shows very good solvent resistance from the primer. And it was still very fresh. That makes me confident that it will take pretty much any paint without issue. Some sanding, another coat of primer and we'll be ready for paint. I know it will be silver, but still have not decided on a particular kind of silver. So far it's a toss between Tamiya Silver Leaf and Argento Nurburgring straight from the Ferrari catalog. I really want a SILVER silver.
  3. After quite a bit of sanding, the Silver Fox is ready for first coat of primer.
  4. Thank you. I need to get me few of these.
  5. This took more body work than I anticipated, but I feel like it was worth it.
  6. Working on the interior. he center console was modified in couple of ways, eliminating the armrest and filling in the slot for the handbrake. Interior tub received some flocking, roll cage was installed. Seat cushions were painted. They still need some touching up. Interior mocked up. It still needs some touch ups and all the small details, like pedals, shifter, handbrake and I am trying to figure out what do I want to do with the seatbelts. I also started on the engine. It is the supercharged one from Revell's Super Stallion Mustang. It will fit in there, but the air intake tubes would have to be completely redone.
  7. I don't know, but I can tell who would NOT be building it, not matter who makes it.
  8. I’m working on “Stickers” interior right now.
  9. Very monotone. Everything will be something very contrasting. Orangy kinda. With some plaid. Maybe... We'll see... Not there yet. But I have somewhat of a plan. LOL
  10. All I can say is that this Fox will be silver.
  11. Tru dat yo!
  12. As I said in my other new thread about yet another new project of yet another new Mustang, I'm battling my new Mustang addiction and so far I'm losing miserably. LOL. What else is new...? This one is coming on the heels of the my other LX 5.0 "Stickers", which I'm building as half joke, half tribute to funny moments in my family. The other car was purposefully over the top with an outrageous body kit. This project is going to be based on the same model and with a very modified version of the same 3D printed body kit. "The 21st Century Fox" will be dialed down on the aero and more of a Grand Touring custom hot rod.
  13. As the title implies, I am facing my latest addiction - Mustangs. And so far I'm losing the battle. After few cool '70s Stangs popped up in the "Under Glass" section, I couldn't resist and finally ordered the '70 Boss 429 that I was contemplating for quite some time now. Well, it's here and I don't intend to leave it alone in its box. I have some interesting plans for this one, so stay tuned.
  14. Thank you.
  15. Nice. Definitely a fine vintage feel to it.
  16. Thank you Jeremy. Appreciate the kind words.
  17. Never been a fan of this whole style, but your model represents very well what can be seen on most cars and coffee meetings our days.
  18. An old roommate of mine had this exact car in the same color. I helped him buy it, it was his very first car. Quite a cool machine, to be honest. The interior was a little iffy, but other than that it was definitely cool. Your model is really nicely done. Great job, David.
  19. Not a big fan of the real car, but your model is absolutely beautifully executed.
  20. Nice David, very, very nice. I wish Street Rodder was still around. One of the few magazines I used to by regularly.

    RUST.

Wow! So much cool models. I have never attempted anything like that, because I always liked shinier things. But sooner or later I will give it a try. There is a lot that can be learned on the subject on here.
  22. Nice. What kit is this, who makes it? For some reason, I never see C5 kits at the vendor's tables at shows.
  23. A rally legend. I almost bought a real one way back when.
  24. I have attempted this kit a couple of times years ago, but never finished one. You did a great job on it.
  25. Super clean and catchy. The redone trim definitely makes an impact.
