  1. I did some more work on the Chassis, got the front mocked up and the firewall completed. And even started part of the aluminum tranny mount.
  2. I will be watching this one as well. Just like Futureattraction, I am curious to see what you do to the lower half of the rockers to section the body.
  3. Spot on... TWO THUMBS UP! That looks frikin awesome sitting off the back of the camaro, even adding the cans it looks sweet.... I am excited to see your car in paint next! Keep us updated.
  4. Man this is an awesome project, I wouldn't even mind having one of these 1/8 bodies. Never built anything this big, but would love to try, since I am a detail freak. I would be doing some major glass work changing it up to look like a Pro Mod body.
  5. That looks much better, only issue is the angle the bracket is sitting for the chutes... Hope you don't mind me showing some pics. These aren't a 70 camaro, but it should give you the idea of where they sit and at what angle. The big thing that I see that you are also missing are the aluminum Cans out the back of the Chute. Remember there is a big spring in the can or chute bag that when opened it kicks the parachute out away from the car. here is a straight on from the back view. Hope this helps out.
  6. Thanks Dave, I have seen his work and his site, but haven't figured out how to get in touch with him. Does someone have an email address or his ID to PM him? I would give anything to see your project up close and personal, I could admire it and ask questions for hours!
  7. These are amazing pieces of work. I think i have seen a few of these on ebay at one time or another.
  8. That was my sentiments as well, maybe up a bit to high and out to far. Make those adjustments and you should be right in alignment. The chute bags are pretty close to the rear lip of the trunk even with a high wing if I recall.
  9. Hey no problem, I agree with you the whole wedging and shrinking of the nose of the cars now days does take some getting use to. But if they didn't do that, they wouldn't be hitting those 4 seconds or less in the 1/8 mile now would they. Better aerodynamics and more down force with keeping the car as low as possible due to the speeds. I agree that the bed is not proportioned and that is because the guy that built the truck didn't section the bed at all and just shortened it in the front and back if I recall. The cab being sectioned and chopped and extended is what throws everything off, and with a 55 Chevy being so boxy in the rear that doesn't make things any better. DoubleD makes a very valid point, due to moving the bed up some reduces the need to cut into the rear fenders to make new Wheel Tubs up and over the bed rails. Which would really make the truck look odd.
  10. Nice start there Dave! You will have to keep us posted as you get closer to wrapping that puppy up!
  11. I think this is what I want to work towards, so i will have to buy 2 more new Resin bodies and start over. This truck has been sectioned 13" out of the bottom of the Cab and pie cut down the middle to bring the front grille and bumper in. But I am not fond of the big ol' wing out back, it just looks way out of place to me.
  12. Brett, nice start on the 55 pro mod and even going to the work of stretching it in the front and back. I think you are running into the same issue I have. The body still sets way to high to be a true Pro Mod, and reminds me more of the old 90's 2000 Pro Stock door slammer due to setting up right. Here is what I am talking about from a ride height standpoint. Very different from the stock height. And the truck bed is the standard length if not shorter shortbed, only thing done is lengthened the nose and sectioned the heck out of the Cab. They said roughly 13" was taken out of the cab.
  13. My 55 Panel, is a resin one from Jimmy Flintstone. Paid $14.95 on the bay for it, but the inside is very thick and needs a lot of thinning of the sides.
  14. Thanks Wayne for the update! I like that dually, never thought of doing something like that to compensate for the wide meats out back. I would like to see more of that 69-70 chevy pickup if ever completed. I use to have a long bed Cheyenne, was my first car (3 speed on the tree)! I have seen a 55 chevy Pro Mod pickup on the net, it looks like that glass body has been sectioned extensively through the middle and using and using a car chassis I would think.
  15. I don't see many Pro Mod trucks popping up around here. By chance anyone working on anything and like to Share? Here is one that I started and got side tracked on my Nova... and side tracked again to start working on my 70.5 Camaro. I nice little 55 Chevy Panel truck, Pro Modded with a full custom Tube chassis. Stopped because I didn't like the height the seats were going to be sitting. So thinking of channeling and doing a pie shape down the middle of the truck. I did pie cut the hood and lowered it down and narrowed the front grille but still not enough. My tow truck that I wanted to build for this truck is a 55 chevy Panel custom converted to a Flatbed hauler with a sleeper.
  16. Not sure if this will help, because my truck is a Pro Mod, but possibly going 4 link and doing like the other person said to Half the frame. Here are a couple pics of one of my projects. Close up shot of the 4 link:
  17. Thanks everyone for the nice words and the suggestion of going the Extreme 10.5 route. I took a look at some of the pics and you are right it does look pretty close. Oh I forgot to mention, what is everyone using for a some what scale 10.5 tire? I have currently the older drag tires off of like the Mustang II, because they were the smallest I could find.
  18. I am amazed at the detail you have in this thing! And to top it off you are still going like the Energizer Bunny.... going and going and going... does the detail ever stop? I like that you stuck with a brass chassis and have built almost all the parts from scratch! I have my eye on this thread.
  19. Top End Miniatures already has the Tranny's for you in a Air Silinoid and I think they are working on some linkage ones. They are suppose to be coming out with some nice Pro Mod motor kits in resin, but dont think they are going to be any more affordable then the RG ones that you mention. I figure that there is a point you have to determine do you want realism or do you want something that fits your wallet? Once this is answered with a more affordable happy medium you will get what you want. As for Wheel Tubs, myself don't see this as something that is needed because each car is different when you add or change up the chassis. The easiest route is an empty "Coke" can because it retains the round shape. Cut to fit and mount a styrene back and you are good to go!
  20. Ok at the request of Android, I am posting up my Long Term 66 Nova project that has been placed on the Back Burner now for over 2+ years. The reason for it as I ended up getting torn in what direction I wanted to go with the build (Pro Mod or Pro Street)? Enough Talking, here are the may progress pictures of the long term project. Here is a Pic, where I was cutting templates for the floor. here is a pic of the custom functioning front struts. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Thanks,
  21. Hi Everyone, This is my first project post on the Model Car form, most of my stuff has been posed on the other Model Car forum, since I wasn't aware of this site. I have a 1/25 scale 66 Nova project that I have been working on now... Off and On for over 2 years and having gotten past the fully custom tube chassis. Lost interest and was torn between a Full blown Pro Mod or a Pro Street, so I decided to push it to the side and start something new. I know this isn't anything new as others are also working on some 1/16 scale Camaro's as well. So I hope no one minds me posting up my project. Pro Mods seem to be the subject everyone is choosing these days, so here is my start to a 70.5 Camaro. Building my own custom Tube Chassis, and just finished the rear and part of the drivers cage. Need to work out the funny car cage and move to the front. I just wrapped up the rear body mounts and the body mounts just above the trunk lid and even added the Frame gussets which look pretty cool even in bare aluminum. I still have plenty of work ahead of me just in the Chassis, but it is slowly coming together. Here are two quick pics for you (I will try and get some better pics tomorrow) .
  22. Did you by chance make these American Pro series double beadlock wheels? I am trying to find someone that can machine me a set of rear wheels in 1/16" as well.
  23. Dave you have an awesome job here... and would like your assistance.. can you tell me what the travel is suppose to be on the rear end? I am trying to figure out that the distance is suppose to be from the rear axle housing and the tube chassis for the lower arms that run up and over the rear end. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Really looking for the 1:1 measurements and then I can scale down to 1:16. Thanks,
  24. Can we get updated links to the pictures... and any updates on progress? Would love to see what progress you have made. I am a big fan of anything Pro Mod and ADRL xtreme Pro Modified.
  25. If are you wanting to build to scale the 1 5/8" tubing would be the .100, about as close as you will get. Myself after working on my custom chassis, this was the best rod to use, since it looked more proportionate, then go with the .80 for the smaller tubes in between if you are building a full blown Chassis and not just the Roll Bar. Google and BING are great search engines, especially if you cont have access to these parts to reference. You can find all kinds of Automotive/Racing forums that talk to specifics. Or even like the other person stated, pull up the Rule Book and that will give you actual dimensions. Best of luck with whatever size you decide to use.
