1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
eviltwincustoms replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It is cool that you have it sitting on its own 4 wheels/tires now and looks awesome! Oh.... Chris this is a tough call and a heart breaker when you get this far and notice something wasn't done just so, to get you at your ride height you are looking for. Not to be Captain Obvious, but this would have been the perfect time to set up the chassis at Ride Height and block out the rear differential so you would have had a better understanding of where it needed to set. Your body is it by chance Resin? or is it the original styrene plastic body? If it is resin, you can cheat and grind some thickness off the roof to help it where the roll bar is hitting the top of the car. How about this to help with the roof hitting, cut the four parts of the Head Ache Rack/Roll bar and bring it down then glue it back into place. You may be able to get away with doing that to help, then drop your rear end to get the body to drop a little more. Or do all 3 of these suggestions and you may be back on track! -
Now this is cool.... This was the best episode of all times for the Munster's when the brought out the Dragula and Grandpa raced.

Can anyone point me in the direction for sites with Pictures of Rigs that are stretched and or bagged? They are all over Youtube, but I am looking for details on like how much they are stretched and would like to use for reference pictures. Specifically I am looking for pics of the Peterbilt 359 Conventional and the Kenworth W900 Conventional. I really like the WestCoast Customs Bagged Convertible Semi with the custom 4 link rear suspension. I found some back issues of Maximum Overdrive Magazine that I am picking up as well. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Um.... me.. me... (This is me raising my hand) I want to be your good friend! I must say that is one heck of a nice gift your friend will be getting.

Photo of Completed Rear End

That would be a "yes" most definitely. Badgass is using one in his Camaro Build and I have one for my build up. If you google the "Mark Williams 11" rear end" you will get a completed picture that a guy was selling them on Ebay. As well as you can find the real deal by going to Mark Williams Enterprises. Here is a real one. -
Ok, without further a due here is the video of the Working door lock. In the resting position the door would be locked. When the handle is pulled back towards the driver (unlocked position). Let me know what you thing. As well again, Thanks to Wayne for the great suggestion of using Lock springs, they are a compression type and actually much better than I was thinking originally in going with the extension type. This way it doesn't put undue stress on the PE door lever. (Just click on the picture and it will start the video through Photobucket)

Hey Chris I can save you some time and shipping cost. Jim already has one of my Flashpoint Pro Mod tires, he can just use it to mock up if needed. Hey may already have the dimensions from cutting my rear wheels, so he may not need anyone to send them going forward not sure. -
Jim, not sure I think they think they are made of Gold! They can keep them because I figured it out Thanks to Wayne. I stopped by my dads and he had some compression springs out of a lock just as Wayne described. I rigged it up and it is perfectly smooth. Now I can get it primed up and try and get a Youtube video up for everyone to see. Stay tuned, as I have the next 5 days off for Vacation, so I plan on getting some work done on this puppy.

Man Chris, I thought I had good eye sight but when I received the Scale Hardware and saw the size of the .85 simulated hex bolts and how small they were... You have to be crazy using the .5MM simulated bolts! Those things are micro small it is crazy, even using tweezers I worry about those things flying off into who knows where in the room! -

Richard.... Dave posted a 68 camaro Pro Mod body he is working on to Replicate a guys car, in his 10.5 Camaro Build up on the last page or so. -
Greg, I hope you don't mind but I might be stealing your pics as reference for my build! Very impressive, if I didn't know better I would swear it was real.

This is really cool looking, I like the front wheel skirts very different looking.

Sweet!!! I am excited to get this home Jim, Thanks for the pic they look Awesome! I appreciate the extra Mile you put into them by including the removable tips. Now I can wrap up my mounts for the fire suppression bottles in the back and the NOS tanks on the passengers side mounting brackets with the CO2 mount for my shifters. Now I am excited to see my rear wheels. By chance did you get my last email about the clutch can?

Chris you want the new site Tim is putting together. He sent it to me and is much easier to get around on. http://sites.google....tdrinnovations/ Everything is broken out by scale and type of part. The Turbo Chargers are pretty cool as well! He even makes different inlet sizes and Left and Right Hand for easier plumbing if needed. -
I'm with Marty as well, more of a door guy than TF. So this is where that Blown motor comes into play that you posted in another thread. I am just amazed at your work. NOW I see how you are able to turn out some of these parts... You have quite the set up in the background there!

Already know about these... just finished putting my order in for a 4 speed set up. Plus plenty of other goodies, (NOS kit, U-Joints, Front tranny section, 2 Middle sections and the reverse section). I know exactly where I will be going back once you have that 1/8 scale body in production! I need to start saving up for that, as I am sure it will be a pretty penny to break out the billfold for. Oh I forget to add, Dave by chance I didn't notice did TIM mold the tranny sections with the Lenco wording on each section? -
I will hold off, the Camaro is nice, but I want the other two he is working on. 68 Mustang and 63 Corvette. I have pictures of the 68 Mustang, and it looks really nice. It is in primer now, but needs a few tweaks based on what Terry is saying. As for the 63, my understanding it is a ways off from being added to the site for purchase. I guess, I will either wait for Flashpoint to finish his 63 or I will be working on my own Pro Mod using an original 63 1/16 model. Just have to figure how much time I want to spend on body work.

streetisneat Thanks Paul for the complement! Prostreet Thanks Joe, maybe it is something you can even throw into your Pro Mod build as well. futurattraction Scott, I appreciate you pointing me towards that site. I am looking to get a spring around .078" OD or smaller if possible. However most of the extension springs are around that .125 size you are saying. The smaller diameter seem to be in the compression springs, so I may have to see if I can form a loop on each end and still use the Compression spring instead. I am an overly detailed person, and sometimes I think I spend more time then necessary trying to figure out how to make something better. This is my nemesis I guess you could say!
