  1. As I'm looking at the last two photos, it occurs to me that you might not want to bother with the 59 parts for the A-pillar, and just scratch build them. At a glance they are similar, but that windshield appears to wrap back even further on the top than a 59 Impala. Another point is that you need a vertical A-pillar. The 59 Chevy angles forward before curving back at the top. Look at the side view you printed to see this. Just curious, but how are you determining the width of the car? Hope my observations are helpful, I really want to see you do this right! This is a great project to take on - GOOOD LUCK!!
  2. Hey kennb, don't know how far along you are with this, but you might save some time if you can lay your hands on one of these kits. Looks like the Impala styling was influential to the guys at Cadillac! The kit is 1/24 scale, from Imex or Arii (shared tooling).
  3. Yeah, this is cool. I love that episode of the Simpsons, and I loved Homer's logic and design process! You did a GREAT job on this, and how can you not love the absurdity and humor of this piece on your shelf?!
  4. Agreed. Now that I look it over, it works well with the body/wheel openings proportions. Any thoughts yet on a color scheme for this bad 57? Can't wait to see the end product!
  5. Beautiful work. I love your attention to detail. Adding the filler panels between bumpers and body is an especially nice bit, and will go a long way towards giving your car that REAL look. More models, especially older kits, can benefit from that touch. Good job!!
  6. Ooh! Roy had a toothpick in his mouth as he smiled for the cameras!!!!
  7. Bold color choices on a handsome car! Nice!
  8. Great looking car. Really nice build! Gotta get this kit...
  9. Lookin' kooooool! Just a thought; since you're going for the stock car look, maybe all four wheels/tires the same size?
  10. That frame looks to be either AMT 67 Impala or 70 Monte carlo. Just an educated guess.
  11. Love it! I've got the exact same project begun, in the rough-in stage. Got the two components cut and super glued together. Thinking about a woodgrain side treatment. I'd love to see how you handled the tail light area. Got a pic?

    Rat Bug

    It works! Nicely done.
  13. The car already has the right stance! How about a decal on the fender that says "Baby", and another one that just say " Hey".
  14. Just beautiful work. I like your taste in colors alot! Personal favorites: 62, 61, and 60 - in that order as far as color goes. What IS that color on the 62?
  15. Like most here, it seems, I think that green really works well on the fastback design! Keep up the good work!
  16. Purple T-bird WINS!!! ( Followed closely by yellow 40 Ford and Olds 442) GREAT work in general. Kudos all around!
  17. There's a reason those wings are tall - will your trunk lid open now?!! Sweet build, seriously, reminds me of an Autorama concept display.
  18. Very nice, love your color choices. If you haven't tackled it yet, when you wind your own coil springs. get yourself a small bolt, something like a 1/4x24, and wind your wire around it,allowing the threads to guide the wire. Perfectly spaced coils every time!
  19. +1 for Cragars, they are such a classic look, and really complement this body.
  20. Anxious to see this progress!

  23. Ummm...are you talking about the 86-87 Mont Carlo SS kits in 1/24 scale?
  24. Keep it comin'! Can you post a link to the article describing the wheel-lacing technique? Excellent story, and magnificent craftsmanship!
  25. Guys, this helps SO much. Thank you both. There's alot of info on the web, but it's not always easy to access it. It's great to be able to tap the collective knowledge of those who may already have stumbled upon what you need!
