Anyone built the Revell 66 Chevelle wagon ?
george 53 replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ed, I'm lookin at the instructions here, and I don't see separate splash pans. Where they SHOULD be, it LOOKS like they're molded to the chassis. There doesn't look to BE one for the REAR bumper. Looks like it attaches right to the body. The Front Grille/ Bumper Assembly are one unit. On the REAL car, the splash pan would be located behind the bumper just below the grille. I don't see them as separate parts at all on the kit. But your right, they WOULD go behind the bumpers between them AND the body. -
Vint, this is the OOOLLLLDDDDD MPC kit that's been hacked to death! If you look closely at the rear quarters, just behind the doors, you'll see waves in it. This is where they were modded YEARS ago to make the "Mr.Unswitchable" funny car in the late 60's. it was then re done as a stock GTO again and they didn't do a very good job RE modding the molds. Yes that's the Ram Air bucket with the hole in it for the carb, it fits LOUSY. The other front end on the tree IS for the 70 GTO. The seats in it aren't right either. Basically that kit is a mess! BUT it IS the only one of a 67 GTO avaliable. You CAN make a nice kit with what's IN the box, but it WILL take some research AND effort. Good Luck!

Drog, No, JoHan NEVER made a STOCK 70/71 Comet. Only the drag version you see. The Maverick WAS first released as a STOCK kit, with full interior an 6 cyl. engine. Then they came out with the Drag version with the Scooped hood, and gutted interior. If you cross bash the original Maverick kit, with the Comet Pro stock kit, you CAN come up with a stock Comet,if you mod the hood, but it'll still have the wrong interior pattern. But that's about the only way to get a STOCK Comet. If someone does make a resin kit of it, I'm not aware of it. It WOULD be nice though.

Slightly warped 1959 Impala true promo
george 53 replied to gus220's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
OOO,John, I'm not really sure you CAN unwarp the type of plastic those ORIGINAL promos were molded in. It's DEFENATELY NOT styrene. I tried to fix an old Hubbley 60 Ford station wagon once an no matter what I did, Hot water .heat, heat with pressure(rubber bands) nothin worked. Maybe one of the guys have been able to, but I sure as heck wasn't! Hopefully someone can help us BOTH out! Fella's????? -

george 53 replied to bsoder's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Brian, same here, I DON'T build or even LOOK at nascar stuff, but I saw the Challenger thread, and since I DO like Chally's and NEVER heard of one bein RACED in nascar, I just hadta look! Glad I did! Yours looks REAL nice, I LIKES it!!!! -
Rob, yeah, those are the kits I have(the yellow ones)I'm wantin to build a stock RR and GTX. I'll use the Air Grabber on the GTX but I was lookin for the Vented hood for the RR. I ordered a FLAT 71 hood(I think it came from the OLD MPC stock car RR) and was gonna try to make the vented hood outta it, BUT that idea of useing the R/M hood sounds good too. ANYONE out there got an extra one? I could trade for it, or just buy it too. Any help would sure be appericiated!
-
Great build, no name, The idea of crossin the 2 kits sure makes for a REALLY NICE end product! Glad you told us where the hood came from, cause MY 71 RR sure didn't come with one. Does anyone pop that hood for a reasonable price?(7.00 bucks for a hood is a little steep for a cheepskate like me!) The color, stance, and wheels make for a BEAUTIFUL factory stock build. I LIKES it!!!

EricJones P&P Resin works.
george 53 replied to george 53's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hey Jeff, You should know I tell it like it is! His plastic isn't as styrene looking as yours, but it IS nice! You know what I think of yours and Kevin's stuff, just as good as the Modelhaus, in MY opinion, an for a guy who's just begining, he's REALLY good too! I'm VERY impressed, and VERY happy to have so many resin casters on our forum that do such HIGH quality work as you guys do!!!( and can call my freinds AND club brothers)Besides, you knows I luvs you an Kevin!!!This place just gets Better an Better EVERYDAY!!!!OHHH YEAHHH!!! -
Ok Bill, I read it, so does that mean Jesus was a year old ALREADY when he was born??? I 'll stay with my way, it makes sense to me, and I like it better!
-
Ok Ok, So i know WITHOUT pics it don't mean Jack, BUT you guys GOTTA JUST TAKE My WORD! I ordered these a week ago(not even THAT really) and I got them today. I've got BOTH these kits in Original plastic, and when I compared the two, they are EXACT repops of their master castings! The resin is REAL nice and smooth, with NO airbubbles OR flash! They're darn near PERFECT!!! You get, The perfectly cast bodies (or body,if you only order one) An interior bucket, also bubble and pin hole free, the seats, dash and unplated "chrome" parts. Bumpers and grille for the Falcon,Front and Rear bumpers and Grille and the rear taillight valance for the Cutlass, ALL the parts needed for the body are cast in the same slightly pale yellow resin, so plateing or Alclading will be nessecary. The tailights are cast in the same resin as the body, so they will have to be painted,or just made up from red plastic, that I'm SURE we all have extra of in our stash boxes. There is no glass or chassis incluned, but I'm going to use the 67 Mustang chassis for the Falcon, and the 65 GTO chassis for the Cutlass. Other than the parts from those donor kits, these things just fall together just like the originals did! And the price is VERY reasonable!, only 45 bucks. Have you priced an ORIGINAL kit of EITHER of these models lately? EASY over a hundred bucks! The quality of the workmanship is RIGHT on the money! I hope Eric adds MORE to his line-up, as I am SO impressed with his work, I wouldn't hesitate to order ANYTHING else from him. This guys work is equal with ALOT of guys who have been at it ALOT longer! That, and his FAST shipping make ordering from him a no-brainer! I just wanted you guys to know that now we have ANOTHER TOPNOTCH caster in our midst who practices what he preaches!!! EXCELLENT quality, FAST shipping, REASONABLE prices and GREAT service! You guys don't NEED to take my word for it, just ORDER something and see for yourself!!! THANKS Eric, you definately got you a SATISFIED customer in ME!!!
