I REALLY like these stock builds, caz I do remember them all from when I was a kid. They ARE all beautiful, lookin just like their big brothers, and lookin GOOD!!!!

My friend Brian's Charger convertible concept
george 53 replied to Trans Am Erik's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Back in High School, A freind of mine,Lonnie Darton, had a BRAND NEW 69 Dodge Coronet R/T convertable that was about 2 months old when the got into a wreck. He had the WHOLE front end replaced with the sheetmetal from a 69 Charger, it TOTALLY interchanged with the stock front end, a VIOLA! a Charger Convertable!!! The ONLY dif was it didnt have the sculpted vents in the doors, but the 3 laser type tailights (that's what I call 'em) of the Coronet flowed PERFECTLY with the lines of the car! It WAS BEAUTIFUL, and I've NEVER seen another one. Just photo shop the Charger front onto a Coronet body an you'll see just how well it flowed, and HOW NICE it looked!!! Too bad Chrysler din't try it, they'da sold a ton of 'em! -

Mike, back inna day,(mid 60's) There was a guy in Ecorse, name of Tony Langdon, lived on 10th street, had that EXACT same car in blue! Same body style, bubble hood,MONSTER slicks, an a built 460 outta a Lincoln. He used to run it at Detroit Dragway. Man you did your NORMAL KILLER Job, it came out GREAT!!!!!

Yeesh Bill, It's about TIME!!!! Man that thing looks GREAT! It's gotta be one of the most difficult kits to build! I got one an I've never even opened it! I remember I tried to build it in the 60's and I didn't have ANY problems with the doors, I just GLUED them bad boys SHUT!!! It came out just BEAUTIFUL! The Color, wheels and stance are PERFECT!!!

What happened while I was away???
george 53 replied to tbrooks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Duhhh, I'm NO WHERE NEAR qualified to answer this question, but,I'll throw my bit into the pool! Depending on how long you been gone, YEAH, ALOT of stuff is different. First, notice the PRICE on our stuff! Even the little stuff, glue, paint, sandin tools, X-atos,EVERYTHING is more expensive. Next, the big company's have frogotten that we were given 'em FREE ADVERTISIN, and decided THEY wanted a peice of the little bitty Pocket Pie that makes up our hobby, so they go after the aftermarket guys to MAKE them pay royalties,or cease an desist! I think even Slixx doesn't make the decals your lookin for! But check 'em out, they make SO much stuff they're bound to have something you can use! As for out an out Pro-Stock kits, ya, you MAY be outta luck! -
REALLY NICE build, Gonz! You gotta nice taste for colors I notice! This one looks really nice too. NICE smooth paint, the interior details are just right.(REALLY like the dash!) And it's just a PURTY car ta BOOT!!!!Yer pretty good there kidd-O!

hey everyone, i have a question?
george 53 replied to B_rad88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
B, I got it. And it looks pretty much like the one in the box! I paid about 10/12 bucks for it at a toy show. I've grokked it, an it looks to be a FULLY detailed kit, but it can only be built as a race car. I wanted ta combine it with Revells Snap kit of that same Jag, just ain't got around to it. But it DOES look like a REALLY nice kit! -
You did a GREAT job converting that promo into a detailed model! You should be proud. The colors GREAT on it and I like the inner door panel detail. I KNOW how junkie that stock interior is! It came out REAL nice! A GOOD lookin model of a NEVER kitted car!!! GREAT JOB!!

Ed, I'm NOT tryin ta be a pantie twister, but, if ya just leave the scoops of the Super Bee hood, it'll be a plain ol' Coronet hood.Oh yeah, sand the Bee emblem off the center front of it! -

Real or Model #105 FINISHED EARLY!!!
george 53 replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Ok I want this should be a lesson for all! Last SUNDAY, Ol Harry tried ta pull a FAST ONE by, actually admitin that he was TRY TA PULL A FAST ONE on ME, by throwin out the RoM EARLY!!! No I wasn't up and I din't see it till Mon morn. So let's look at this in context. He THINKS he's gonna fool me, YES? NO, I STILL guessed it right.Even down to the builder!(actually who ELSE coulda built it??!!) THEN, a newbie comes along and, with no malace of forthought,an accidentaley Gives it up. AND THEN, ANOTHER newbie comes in again, totally by accident, a throws his hat into the ring!,No problem BUT it is HARRY'S game, An I think HE should have a say in what RoM's gonna be. BUT, IT ALL GOES TA SHOW, The BEST Laid Plans of Mice and Men Oft Times Go Astray!!! Don Mess Wi ME, I DON NEED NO STEEKEEN BASHES!!! We Now Return To Tonight's Feature, Don Mess Wi Me! Featureing Me! In my 1st non-starring role! THANKYOUVERYMUCH! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! -
Still looks like a Lady Schick, ESPECIALLY with that dent along the middle for M'Ladies hand!!!

Frank, you did a REALLY nice job on your conversion, it looks better than factory! As for Bill, He's been building for longer than ALOT guys here have been BREATHIN! His JUNK looks better than ALOT of guys good stuff! Maybe the newbies should show some respect to the older builders here, caz ALOT of them have forgotten more stuff then they(the newbies) have YET to learn! I don't know this Dencon person, but he should have more respect and patience with folks he doesn't even know. He could learn ALOT more than he already knows, an he doesn't SOUND like a dummy. WE can ALL learn new stuff, Like I did jus by readin this thread! You do EXCELLENT work Frank, hope to see more of it in the furure! -
DMCC (Dearborn) Meeting pics
george 53 replied to PatRedmond's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Jim, it's actually a little of both. We have some EXCELLENT modelers in our club, Steve Perry, "H", Trans Am Eric among them, AND QUITE a few more! Sorry If I neglected to mention anyone else. We have a 2 hour meeting that starts at 7 an runs to 9, BUT alot of guys get there early an sell old stuff they don't want, and some stay later just to shoot the breeze! I DON'T know how others clubs run, but that's how we do ours! I REALLY look forward to it! It's kinda like a "BEIN THERE" forum! If you have a club near you, I HIGHLY recommend it! You got ALL kindsa guys who share your SAME passion for our hobby! The older guys, like myself, an guys who bring their sons (like my buddy Ian) who are bringin them up right! And LOTTSA guys in between! Try one, you'll LIKE IT!!!! -
Chuck, I have an original MPC Grumpy's Toy Vega, and IT'S quarters are perfect! Are you sure you don't have a repop of that Vega kit from a few years ago with those butchered up wheelwells? I know for a FACT mine is an original kit. But thoses new ones you have sure look good enough to be worth cuttin my kit up to convert it! Yours actually look more accurate than the stock wells on my kit!
