  1. Jay, this might sound weird, but go to the make-up section at the "Mart(any MART) an get you a pack of various grits of emery boards. They're invaluable for getting into tight spots an general clean up work. You can cut them up to get even smaller sizes to do intericate work, an their CHEEP! so you can get a coupla packs to have in reserve! Hope this helps.
  2. Andy,Z gauge? Wats it stand for? ZERO?????
  3. Welcome Mitch! Since the Big Kahunas already given ya the formal forum greeting, all I wanna say is anyone whose FAMILY is into racein is my kinda guy! Enjoy the site as much as possible, caz it's THE BEST model car site on the PLANET!
  4. Guy's we had a saying at Poletown about G.M.'s attitude about suggestions. If it's a good one, they WON'T use it!(Too Simple) BUT they'd invest THOUSANDS of dollars into an UNPROVEN meritless idea. (How do we know it WON'T work, unless we try it!) Harry,Your suggestion is the same thing,it's SO simple,an makes SO much sense, you won't even get them to look at it! They's RATHER waste development/research money on somethin else that REALLY won't fly than to take the buyers word on what THEY'D like,an NOT some budget pinching shirt that probly DOESN'T even BUILD models! Heck I got more stuff than I'll EVER build, I don't really NEED anymore kits,BUT I like the fact that some kits, the 66 Impala bein one,are comin out with TODAYS technology, sure beats payin 200 bucks for a 43 year old kit,IF you can find an UNBUILT one!(that's what I paid, caz I REALLY wanted it) Now that Revell's poppin a NEW MODERN one,you can bet yer bootie I'm gonna get a MESS of 'em! But WHO asked for it? NOT ME, so, was it just because they had the tooling already done(for the most part) for the 65, and they just wanted to get their money's worth out of the tooling,or did they survey the public to see if they wanted a 66?
  5. I gotta side with ya Harry, Just HOW MANY of ANY version of the 32 do we need" I mean I do love 32's as to me, they are the quintessential hot rod, BUT they aren't the ONLY hot rods! Howz about a nice 34 Chevy? Or maybe a ________(add your own). If they had put as much research into say, the 70 bochedup Cuda, they'da sold aTON of them! Who picks what'll be made? Certainly NOT us! I'd STILL like to see a 74/76 Pontiac Grand Am, but I'm probly one inna million who wants one. I was glad ta see the Black Widow, but now my MPC/AMT conversion 'll probly stay in the box! There's ALOT of cars yet to pop. Like you said Harry, the resin casters do fill SOME gaps, but to spend research dollars on ANOTHER version of the 32 is a waste to me. Of course, if they do a 32 B-100 hardtop/convertable,or a Victoria I'd probably get a couple, but other than those, WHY do we need ANOTHER 32 Ford?
  6. Jerry, any good artstore/office supply carries 'em. Just make sure you get the one HE got! Prismacolors are the BEST pencils for doing this kinda work. I use them to make the I'P's more detailed lookin an they work GREAT!.Just remember to get the RIGHT ones. Other pencils seem to have a harder lead in them, and they don't go on as well as the Prismacolors do. They are a tad more expensive, BUT they ARE worth it!
  7. Mark, I gotta go with ZukeMan an Led on this one! The color combo is NICE! I hadta let that yellow swatch grow on me, but in the end, I think it just goes with it!! Looks GOOD, Daddy-O! REAL nice job!
  8. I for one, will buy a case of 'em! 66 was a GREAT year for Chevy's! I got a 66 convert from R&R, an put the roof from a 70 Galaxie on it, I know,I know,It's not accurate BUT it sure looks good ta ME! It LOOKS like a Biscayne, an I put a 427 outta the 68 Vette in it! Iwanted to do it in real life, but my Pop nixed the idea caz it was a 283 an it burned ALOT of oil, so Pops said it wasn't worth it. I COULDN'T tell him I was gonna change engines in it, he'd REALLY have gone thru the roof! BUT , the 66 Impala has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine from that day on! I'm REAL HAPPY to hear this,I just hope IT HAPPENS!!!!!
  9. EzzLoookeeen GOOD Eve! To bad Caddy's of that year didn't come in that color, it REALLY does look nice! Seems more of a 50's color, but it sure goes with the style! Sure looks better than Mary Kaye PINK!!!!!(which they DID make)
  10. I gotta agree with Bill,Frank. You can see the effort,It came out REAL nice, BUT.....It's really a 66, Still sharp though!
  11. When ya think about it, If G.M. couldn't save it, Who else could? She's just a fond memory now, like Plymouth.
  12. Charlie, It's only plastic,Bro, MAKE it fit!!!!
  13. YOW,Lyn, wadda let down, No pics of YOU??? The MODEL QUEEN???(It's kinda like the Model King!) I can see B not wantin a pic, caz I know Cameras ARE expensive, But a pic of our ONLY sister woulda been nice! So it looks like there's an AWFULL lotta stuff ta go thru. You may need ta make quite a few more trips ta get it all sorted out! An who knows, if I can talk the Ol' Girl inta goin down there you just MAY find my fat self snoopin round yer door!!!
  14. Curt, I met Dave here on the forum, an started to send him e-mails an such and we got to be freinds. I've never met him , but we're freinds just the same! He has a GREAT attitude about life, beleives as I do that God is REAL,And he ALWAYS has a positive attitude towards people.Yes, I do believe he is a GREAT ambassador to our hobby, as are so many other guys that I've met because of my love for these plastic little cars! I just happen to REALLY like the way he thinks about life in general, and I consider him a good freind! Didja get to see "MY" Hollywood? That has to be the MOST GORGEOUS model I've EVER seen! I absloutely LOVE that car!
  15. Jim, the 70 71 GSX was ALWAYS one of my FAVORITE cars! It's just a BEAUTIFUL style! I have 2 resin kits of this car from R&R in 25th scale. He's the ONLY one I've seen that pops it in 25th scale. I haven't done more that clean it up an try to fit a more accurate chassis for it. I hope it comes out as nice as yours!
  16. Ya know Woofie, I dun ate ALOT a WEIRD sh8t in my time, but I ain't NEVER ate the ol Wile Grapes an Rods afore! If THAT'S how the Capt'n gets hims ideas, MEBBE, I SAID MEBBE, I should give 'em a shot! Useta DRINK ALOT of grapes, an even smoked some root, but I never tried EATIN the suckers!!! Hummmm, I wonder......
  17. Jim, ya gonna use the 65 Lincoln body, or you gonna use sumpthin else? I would think the interior of that rascal would fit other years of Lincoln's. It'd be cool to see a REAL Lincoln Wagon! I don't ever remember ever seein one even as a Fo.Mo.Co. showcar!
  18. Bill, you GOT it Daddy-O! That's what I'm talkin 'bout! Do you use the same technic to make these as you did the cruzer skirts? Sure came out NICE! I GOTTA TRY IT!!!
  19. Well Capt'n ya gon an dun it now Boy-O! Cripes, now we knows how ya gets them ideas for all your "spacey" builds! Although I'd really check them Psylocybin shrooms out REALLY good 'afore I throwed 'em on a pizza!!!
  20. If ya want 9, I could send ya some Deeetroit snow come Feb. But it MIGHT be water by time ya get it! As for snow, I personally love it! it's the Slush, blizzards and Goofy drivers that get to me!
  21. Pete if ya can't wait for Revells kit, the Danbury Mint makes a BEAUTIFUL 70 442 Convertable. It's orange with a white roof(detachable) and white interior with bucket seats an console, with the Ram-Air engine and hood. It's about 130.00 bucks so you may want ta hold out for the plastic kit!
  22. Oh Jeeze Bill, that was just plain WRONG!!! WHAT are the chances of a 59 Impala hittin a 09 chevy whatever? That was just bein mean for bein mean! There was absolutely no reason for this comparison, regardless of what the advertisment said! Duhhhh, Yeah, I woulda thunk Chevy's had become safer in the last FIFTY YEARS!!!!! It was just a waste of a 59 Chevy. Even if it was rusted out!
  23. Sup Nick?, welcome! You'll like it here,Oh yes, You WILL like it! These are some pretty sharp guys we got us here, they can answer ANYTHING about our little cars! Go ahead, ask, Some of these guys have made a living workin for the model co.s! It's just the BEST forum of it's kind in EXISTANCE!!!! Just look at some of the builds an you'll get an idea.We got beginners, in-beetweeners,an pro's! An we ALL get along, it's just a neet place! Yeah, you'll like it here!
  24. Just MY 2 cents. Retirement is cool, I don't wake up a 4:00 anymore, Fight I-94 CRAZIES who shave or apply make-up at 70 MPH, or hafta deal with the line anymore(Did THAT for 25 years before I got on a Hi-Lo) I do miss my truck(Hi-Lo) There wasn't ANYTHING my lil truck couldn't lift! I DO miss ALL my freinds though, Buckeye, Bobby Dawg, La Donna, Ray-Ray, These guys an girls made the day liveable. Now we're all retired an I sure do miss them. The Plant was home for alot of us,and we WERE like family. 32 years went by fast, I had ALOT of freinds and my daughter Joy still calls alot of them "Uncle" I DON"T miss the plant AT ALL, just the folks that populated it. It's pretty lonely without the constant company of those guys, hopefully Theresa will retire soon(but I DOUBT it! she LIKES her job more than I liked MINE!) and I won't be botherin you guys so much. But THAT has yet to be seen! Retirement is cool, I enjoy it for the most part, but I worked with the BEST crew in my plant, and other than Weddings an Funerals we don't get to see that much of each other anymore. I DO miss them all. Too bad we all live so far apart caz I'd STILL be hangin around with them! But I DID make it to retirement an alot of guys DIDN'T so I thank the Good Lord that HE let me make it thru all the craziness. AND I get a pretty good pension too, so I consider myself lucky in more ways than one!
