  1. WOW CB, I just never get over how well you "Euro" guys have OUR street scene down so well! That Merc is just the right speed, not too flashy, but Definatly NOT a primer Queen! She came out GREAT! You dun good!
  2. Holy Shamoly J, that came out NICE!!! I do be thinkin ol Volksie would have a HARD time comin up with somethin that would equal THAT! Colors perfectan the wheels DO give it an agressive look! Ya dun a GOOD job on it, it came out GREAT!
  3. Bob, that's one cool lookin chort! I likeses it! The spinner hubcaps REALLY set it off! Looks JUST AS IT SHOULD! GREAT BUILD!!!
  4. Bob, that's one cool lookin chort! I likeses it! The spinner hubcaps REALLY set it off! Looks JUST AS IT SHOULD! GREAT BUILD!!!
  5. Didn't the President of Bolivia ride around in something like that? Or was it Ecuador? Either way, she's a right distinguished lookin ride. Definately worthy of haulin a VIP around! GREAT conversion job!
  6. 58, I bought the 68 Mustang, and traded one of the guys here for another one. They seem ok to me, I like them, BUT the Challenger has gotten not too good reviews by the others here who have bought it. I saw one at our last club meeting, and it looks kinda slab sided to me, but I could be wrong, caz I din't have an MPC or AMT PLASTIC kit to compare it with. But it does look to be a tad larger the the earlier versions.
  7. It's a lo-lo? Looks like a REALLY nice custom to me! GREAT JOB Panchito! I'm sure Barris would approve of it WHOLE HEARTEDLY!!!!Outstanding paint work!
  8. Kasey, if ya REALLY wanna freak em out, drop an LT-5 into it! That's what I did to mine. The Dash is right hand drive though,an I wanna change it over to U.S. specs so I don't hafta re engineer the darn engine compartment! Marcus is right though, that lil "Ricer" is lookin mighty fine!!!Great Build!
  9. Fuji, the most(and ONLY) expensive 43rd scale I own are the 2 kits Revell did about 20 years ago. They were a 67 Vette an a 65 Cobra. They were done in plastic, so they weren't any trouble to build. You might ask Bill Geary about how much they tend to run, as he has build a few. But I DON'T think they were cheap! I guess when you cast in such a small size, your detail work becomes ALOT harder, hence the price. But in reality I have NO idea WHY they're so expensive. They're just TOO small for me and my eyes!
  10. HOOO Boy, Marcos, is that thing PINK! or what? Mary Kaye Pink is a little lighter in shade, I think the red undercoat is whats makin it darker. I'm not crazy about pink on cars.We used to do a 75 car run, every year for Mary Kaye. After the first 5/6 cars you started gettin a headache! She even had Cadillac put her name on the color! It's comein out nice, but DON'T let Cap'n Blaque see it, He'll propably have a STROKE!!!!
  11. Great job on the conversion to a 2dr. The colors real niceto, very subtle but elegant. She come out right nicely, I do gotta admit! GREAT BUILD!
  12. Tommy, here in Deeeetroit, the word "pimp" has been used since BEFORE I was born! The word pimp is actually a pronoun. If I were to call you a pimp, it would then be a noun. The word pimp as a way to describe a man of little self esteem who abuses women, has been around ALOT longer than the 50's It probably originated in ancient Rome!
  13. Gregg, I hadta blow it up to see it in all it's glory! Yeesh, it LOOKS like each horizontal rib was placed by hand, individually! Did you build it as a kit, or did it come pre assembled? Either way, THAT is one Heckava REAL, NEET, and COOL lookin Grille. Hope it's ready for Toledo, an Good Luck!
  14. Randy, My Big Brudder Art, created them back in the 50's caz he had to wear Buddy Holly type glasses. His vision was SO bad he made them dice so big so he could see the dots when he was shootin at kraps! Them kraps useta be so plentiful they was a downright nusance! Now, only memories of the Killer Kraps is all us oldsters got to remember. So, outa longing for the good ol days, we tend to hang their corpses from our mirrors! Badump pa! I hope you can take the joke! In reality Ran, we'll probly NEVER know who thought them up, kinda like Blu dots, or spinners an the like, the true story is lost to time! But my Big Brudder STILL wears Buddy Holly type glasses!
  15. Well, I don't feel I'm a rivet counter, but when you put a 24th kit up to it's 25th counterpart, there IS a difference in their sizes. If it's 25th then say so, if it's NOT well, then say so too! I wasn't aware there's a scale BETWEEN 24th and 25th that's being produced. If it's to scale THEN WHY don't some 25th pieces fit OTHER 25th scale pieces? The Edsel engine just being an example. I ONLY buy 24th for parts, and I DON'T build 24th UNLESS I can't absolutely find it in 25th. An exeption was Monograms 69 GSX. But now that I've gotten my 2 25th scale GSX's from Steve, over at STAR MODELS, they'll get built before the Mono kit. If you place all your models on the shelf, the size difference between the two scales is VERY noticable. I'll put a 24th engine in a 25th car, just to make the motor the "STAR" of the engine compartment. Or use tires from a Mono kit, But all in all I do like to stick with 25th scale, caz it's what I grew up with, and until recently, they were all true to scale. But WHAT'S happened lately? Don't the manufacturers care anymore about scale fidelity? Is "Close enough" the NEW scale? Why do my kits from the early 60's have interchangeable parts with my newer kits that match up,( till around 2000) but the newer kit's that have come out in the last coupla years may be a scale 2/3/4 inches off? Did rulers change when I wasn't lookin, or what? A Mill is still a mill isn't it, or an inch is STILL an INCH! Why the sudden change? Or is it like it doesn't make a difference anymore? It sure seems like it.
  16. Clutch, you can probly get away with useing the boot from the old AMT 69 GTX convertable kit. But good luck finding an up-top. No one makes one as far as I know.Hope this helps.
  17. The Cutlass seats look GREAT in there,Lyle. Was a decal used for the upper part of the door panels? That kid is gonna have a BLAST in that ride!!!
  18. Normally I don't look into this particular thread, but when I saw the title, I HAD to see what was goin on. Yep I gotta agree with all you guys, it's just NOT nascar anymore. What it is ,is just one giant advertisement. I got nuthin but admiration for the guys who build them, caz some of them really are miniature works of art. But as for real life credability, those cars got as much in common with STOCK cars as I got in common with an Irom ManTriathalon winner!
  19. PLEASE accept my deepest apologise Your right and I was wrong, I'm sorry I offended you And No, it will NOT happen again, Again, I am sorry I offended you, I was NOT meant as such. Please forgive me.
  20. Bill, I was quite happy till a few years ago, an never really cared about scale, caz ALL my 25th scale cars were the same. Then AMT bought out the Edsel kit, and it just looked small for some reason. I don't know if it actually is, but I can tell ya for sure in engine isn't 25th! It's an FE block(the heads are part of the intake) But it don't match the FE blocks I've got. Why? I guess your right, them guys must not use a Micrometer, but an Abucus!!!
  21. Bill, I think we may be TOO old school! I bought one of the "new"AMT 57's when they first came out all those years ago, and they didn't match up with the "old" AMT kits so I never got another one! Now you say the new Revell isn't to scale? I haven't seen one yet so I don't know. I guess since the manufacturers don't care about being accurate as to scale, we shouldn't care, but I do. How come the old AMT kit, and the MPC kit you mentioned are to scale with each other? I put the entire greenhouse of the MPC kit on the AMT kit, and there was virtually no difference in scale! The "new" AMT kit is larger than the old one. WHY? I REALLY feel if it IS 25th scale they shouls ALL match. I guess the manufacturers don't agree.
  22. Dave, WHAT? Your gonna build a "RATROD"? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, It MUST SHINE! If your gonna rebuild your old ride, for nostalgia sake, we'll forgive THAT! But C'mon kidd-o you KNOW your heart is in the "pretty shiney, ain't nobody else got one" state! EVERYONE seems to be doin it, I just DON'T unnerstand why a plain ol primered hot rod is called a rat rod.I mean, some of them look like rollin junk that I wouldnt be caught DEAD in! Then some of them are well thought out and actually look nice. If you do decide to take the plunge, leave SOMETHING chromey or shiney on it ,So I'll know it's yours! As for the "Dark Side" thing, remember what Yoda said,"TRY NOT....., DO!!!!!"
  23. WOW Az, that looks like one really nice HotRod! Didja just chop the top, or didja section the body too? Either way, that a mean lookin bad boy! To me, THAT'S what a HotRod is SUPPOST ta look like!!!!!GREAT JOB! And welcome to the Forum!
  24. I gotta admit Danner, you MAY be right on this one.I'm still recouping from last week,so I'm kinda leery. It COULD be a nicely built Pocher. The dirt on the tires looks real. Unless he photo shopped the background, I say REAL too!
  25. Wow Spide, that's a neet idea! See, parts is where ya find 'em! Good eye, lets see what they look like onna kit.
