Art Deco '49 Merc / chopped and.......??
george 53 replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Cool Dave, I can see now what you meant by the chrome trim having that little "finger' pointing towards the front, down at the bottom of the trim. Also the very tip where the color separation line would be. VERY nice Dave,(an so typical of your builds, you ALWAYS seem to go the extra mile, and it shows)up to your usual standards, and it's lookin GREAT I like the Buick headlite treatment too! -
Well, Bubba, I'm twisted too, so it's no wonder that I like your trucks.Watcha gonna put that blown motor in? I know THAT trucks gonna be a Hauler!!! Great job, I likeses 'em!

Rick, that speed boat your refering to was also built by my buddy Steve Perry. The seats are resin cast from masters he made himself. He started with hardwood blocks cut to shape, the he used 1/2 round stock to make the pleats. He also built a JET DRIVE for it but it hadn't been installed yet. I got one from him in Toledo, and it looks just like the ones on the real jet boats. He mastered that from pics his brother sent of the real thing. It looks even cooler up close an for real! -
Why Do I Bother Building Again?

Awwww, C'mon Bri, you know you love it! So it's just another little thing you gotta overcome, so what else is new? Ask if anyones got a rear valance in purple. Once you find one, you'll ask why you ever posted this thread. We're modelers Bri, a little thing like a valance shouldn't stump an ol modeler like yourself! Adapt, improvise and OVERCOME! You CAN do it, I know it in my bones! Any body got a valance for Brian? If so, step up an help a brother out! -

Question for the motor gurus
george 53 replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Allisons were AIRCRAFT engines only, they were used in a few Elco PT boats but mostly designated to the aircraft industy. They were TOO important to the war effort to use in other applications, thats why the PT boats mostly ran the big Packard V-12's. At least thats what I've read.(I wasn't around during WWII) -
Yeeesh, It's taken me this long to find the words to describe this monster, And I still can't! Just too awesome! Maybe just maybe, someday I'll be able to............Nahhhhh! Beautiful build!

Avenger, I'm not sure, BUT I think the Modelhaus casts one in resin. I KNOW theres no plastic version, so resin is your only chance. Maybe R&R has one. But like I said, I'm not certain of it.Oh, come to think of it, I HAVE seen it in 1/18th scale but I'm thinkin your lookin for 25th, yes?

Shane, Man these guys are a blast! If you got a club ANYWHERE near you, you should go check it out, hopefully you won't be sorry. I just got into this group last month, and last nite, 2 more newbies showed up. All of us,execpt for maybe 2/3 guys are ol dudes like me, or older. Just a big bunch of overgrown kids, who happen to build some killer models! It is ALOT of fun, and IF you can find a good club(like ours) you won't be sorry! -
Doug, If it were mine ,and I wanted to keep it like it was, I'd just polish up the plastic, an BMF it. Then just put it back together and admire it as a "survivor"!

Here in the downriver Deeetroit area, it's at 1.51 a Gal. I read well over 2 years ago, that at a meeting in Wash.D.C. the oil co.'s decided to raise prices , under the understaning" If we jack it up to 5.00 a Gal. an leave it there for a while, they'll(the U.S. consumer) be GLAD to pay 2/3 bucks a gallon. Danged if the bastiges din't get away with it! Just ANOTHER sign of pure corporate greed in all it's essence! -
OOOO Nick a rino, THATS NICE!!!!!
