A little more work. The rear shocks are constructed but not yet painted, and the brake line for the rear calipers is done. The intake, headers, and turbo bodies are mounted. -
Actually I think it's a good thing to let a mod know a deal has gone sour. This should only be done once with the knowledge that you are only notifying them of the problem, nothing should be expected of the moderator. This way the people who run and control this site would know if they have a bad egg on the site. What I can't understand, what's the difference between a trade or a sale? Both transactions can go bad.

More progress. The engines are painted and ready for assembly. I made a bunch of pulleys from watch gears and tubing. I still need to file off the teeth from the gears and paint them. The rear end is starting to take shape. I still need to make the airbags and shocks, then plumb the brakes and trans cooler. -

Thanks for the comments everyone. I picked a color for the body. It's another nail polish called "Grey's Anatomy". It's a very transparent grey to red pearl. I spayed a test piece over the grey primer and got a grey to lavender. It looks great next to the purple frame. In low light it just looks battleship grey, add a little light and you get a grey pearl, hit it with bright light and it's lavender pearl. -

I finally got back to work on this project. To detail the engines a bit, the molded in mounts, starters, and oil filters were ground out and filled. Then new pieces were made along with new distributors. I also have the frame, cage, engine blocks, and front engine mount in color. I's a nail polish called "Buffy the Violet Slayer". It looks like purple anodize. I hope to clear these parts tomorrow. -
I recently bought an Alumilite casting kit and have done a little bit of playing around with it. I've done enough to want to get a little more involved with it and was wondering what products are you guys using for your work?

While I don't care much for how F1 cars have developed cosmetically, you can't argue with this. With that said, I don't think speed has a lot to do with the excitement of racing.

925k3, you live in Mechanicsburg and didn't post a pic of a 410, shame on you!

While I appreciate your input, this build has been unrealistic from the get go. It has an automatic solid transaxle I made up, that I'm sure would never work in real life. The rear suspension would never work properly, the front suspension wouldn't work at all and I've got one engine slanted the wrong way with the head on backwards. So a turbo mounted wrong is not too big of a deal, at least to me. Plus the amount of work to make all of the plumbing line up and fit was way too much time and effort to abandon at this point. If you follow any of my builds, none of them are very realistic. -
Even though I'm getting a little tired of the whole retro fad, this thing is gorgeous. What I do find strange is that many who love the retro feel of this car don't care for the period correct color. Now before everyone jumps down my throat with that statement, I do think there is room for modern and retro rods and enjoy a mix of the both. The problem now is, if you build a modern rod you get looked down on because your not part of the current trend. Lets face it a tasteful well built rod is cool no matter what trend you follow.

I'm just about done running the tubing. Now to do the exhaust. -

After a trip to the tubing bender we have the turbos mocked up. I had to rework the driver side turbo to make the inlet and exhaust mirror the other one. First bends Fitting the exhaust to the turbo. The intake plumbing is fit. Now I need to find some nice looking scoops or airfilters. -

After a nasty bout of the flu and tracking down another engine I'm back to work on this. The second engine getting mocked into position. Another first for me, I cast some turbos from a Monogram Indycar kit. Next up is fitting them to the headers and intakes. -

How about a 1st gen Vega and an early Corvair. Both of these bring big bucks on ebay, so I'm guessing there is a market for them. If it's new tooling, a Greenbriar or 95 panel would be cool. -

I saw a site somewhere, they are trying to raise funds to help this guy pay off the bill for the damage. Now who in their right mind would donate to this? He had the chance to drive a car that most people will never even see live in their lifetime, why should anyone else foot his bill? If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. -
3-D Printing is now affordable
Psychographic replied to Darren B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I should have been more specific in my question. I had assumed the file would need to be exported as another format and that it would have to be rescaled for the printer. I was just wondering if the wireframe or whatever it is called in the gaming world could be transferred to use for a 3D printer. -

To those who know much about 3d files, could a file from a video game be used to make parts? I'm not talking about quality, just if it would work. There's a boatload of cars available for some games and just to be able to use them for a body could be useful. -

The last thing I need to fabricate before the cage goes into the body shop, the pedals. The mount. Done. -

As I said, the headers probably wouldn't make the cut. I decided to go with turbos on this build, this new setup should work pretty good with the idea I have in mind. I used a dash pod from a 58 T-bird , then scratchbuilt the face, column drop and gauges. I also made the tach.
