Here's what I did with mine.

Is this the end?
Psychographic replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Being a fellow sign painter, I understand Glenn's statement. The average person would never understand how hideous wraps are to guys like us. Sign programs have ruined the sign industry as badly as the France family has ruined Nascar. Do wraps have a place and purpose, absolutely. Are about 90% of them poorly to very poorly designed, absolutely. -
Thanks Dave.

Oops! Thanks anyway Ed.

Ed, Thank you, but are you sure you got the diameter right? 1.04" seems very tall to me. Here's a pic I got from ebay.

I have a build in mind and thought that Swamp Rat 30 might have be a good donor. If anyone has this kit, could you measure the diameter of the front tires and how wide the track is for them? Thanks.

If you added any enamel reducer to it, either intentional or not, it can skin very quickly. -
No Dodge in Nascar next year
Psychographic replied to jjsipes's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No it's not. The genius behind the wheel, Brian France has given up on the idea of racing as a sport and more entertainment. In the boom of the 90's went Nascar went from the hardcore fan base to the general public, all kinds of stupid things were introduced to make the "Show" more entertaining Also big money started ruling Nascar. So now that the Nascar fad is over with, you have long time fans who are sick of, All the new 1.5mile cookie cutter tracks while abandoning some of the great short tracks. Spec cars Top 35 rule The biggest blunder of them all,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the Chase. So there are a LOT of old fans that couldn't give a rats hind end about Nascar. -
90% of the rat rod guys I've met were the biggest posers in the world. They talk krap about people who have well built and shiney cars, meanwhile they're driving the biggest POS ever with an expanded metal floor. Yeah, that's the social aspect I want to be part of. There is a huge difference between a traditional hot rod with patina, than a rat rod.

PM coming your way. -
I wouldn't want to have figure out a hinge for a reverse opening hood on this kit. I have no idea how you are going to pull that off, but I'm sure you will!

Those are the valve covers from the kit for the small block, they are a bit long aren't they? They're not on permanently, they are just on the block for clearance of the new intake. The engine in the kit isn't much, beside the oversized valve covers, there is a considerable chunk of the block missing. I guess the crank pulley is magnetically connected to the crankshaft. The engine is just sitting there for a visual. I haven't decided how it will work with the hood yet.

As usual, I started two other projects during this build. One a 50 Chevy P.U./58 T-Bird cross and a split window Vette/ Silhouette cross. As for the MM, I've got one door about done with mock up. This is my first time opening doors. It's a bit of work, I hope they get easier as I go. I started to build this engine for the SilhouVette, but it won't fit the way I want it. With the engine bay of the MM, I thought it would work good. It's the small block from the Ertyl 63 Vette. I took the weber carb intake from the kit's optional big block, sectioned the middle, shortened opposing ends to fit the SB and offset them, and finally mounted them backwards. I needed 8 arched tubes to mount the Webers. After about 20 or more, I finally had 8 on my desk, the rest were playing "Carpet Hide & Seek", or in the scrap pile. For someone with about 0 patience, you could imagine the fun of aligning two tubes to each carb, then while the cemented glue is still pliable, align all 8 tubes into the intake. Sitting in the MM,

Aluminum Willys Coupe: finished pictures posted 8/2/12

Another Home Run in the making. What really amazes me about you John, beside the fact you have incredible talent, is how you stay so focused on a project and see them through. -
This is a combination of a head from Digger, a body from Davey. The bike is also from the Davey kit, well the handlebars, headlight, engine and front tire are. The scoops are from a T'rantula, the rest is scratch built. We'll start with the bike. I started out modifying the stock Davey bike, but soon scratched the idea in favor of building my own using a few parts from the original kit I just noticed I forgot to put the seat on the bike. The seat is removable, when the Big Man is on board the seat isn't used. It also looks like the tank is too far forward (it snaps on) as there is a gap between the intake off the motor and the bottom of the tank. Now for the figure, the skull is made from the head in the Digger kit. The helmet was modified to make the top of the skull, the chin and teeth and tongue are scratch built, the eyes are ebay doll supply pieces. The drool came from a member on another site. The body is from the Davey kit, with a lot of mods, The torso has been narrowed about a 1/2" at the top tapering to nothing being removed at the bottom. All the body joints and both hands have been re worked to get the desired pose . Additions include the Chain-Drive wallet, spiked belt, back collar on the jacket, re worked shoes.legs into boots and all the studs.

You've got one over a lot of us geezers, 26 year old eyes. that right there puts you way ahead of a lot of us. You probably can see these little parts clearly and for that, I envy you! Go for it! -
Chase the women, children, pets and any old folks out of the house. Turn up the level on your subwoofer, and crank your speakers to 11, cuz according to Spinal Tap, it's better than 10. Sit back in your chair and enjoy. http://bangshift.com/blog/the-parting-shift-screaming-289-cobra-destroying-everything-in-its-path-edition.html
