  1. Thank you Dr. Cranky, and Darren, your compliments are most flattering. I have continued to roam around this site and I'm not sure if I getting more inspired or more intimidated. The information and talent on this site is overwhelming. To try and get through it in some methodical fashion I thought I'd start with those that have checked in on my stuff. You all do fantastic work and I have truly never seen so much high caliber modeling at any other sites. I hate to be singled out, but at this point I do have to single someone out that has me simply awestruck. Dr. Cranky, you sir...I really don't know what to say besides you have an incredible imagination, and amazing talent and skills to bring those visions to life. I have been pretty consistent in my types of builds, my methods, and my thoughts of what a model should look like...so much for that! A fan of yours for life. Thank you for sharing your craft, and for taking the time to comment on my work. Ok, apologies for being so long winded. Some progress on this build in that I've painted up and assembled the few interior bits, the belts are painted because I didn't have anything that I thought would look better on hand. A bit glossy but I'll try to tone them down. Slapped the body on, put the engines in. Getting close now. Thanks for looking and for entertaining my thoughts of being a builder one day! Later, Dave
  2. Hey guys, thank you very much for the compliments. I've checked out some of your work, which is what inspired me to join, very impressed, and look forward to seeing more. Some progress here, but not impressed with my results. I had more trouble wiring this than any time ever before and no real idea why. The wires are a bit too big, which may be part of the problem. Results were too much handling and the evidence is showing pretty badly. I tried to to heat stain the pipes too (a first), not very happy with those either, but better luck next time. Also tried to drill them out a bit and fill with paint, but the Black is too stark of a contrast. Anyway, tried to give these engines a bit of a been running look, but I'll keep practicing. Thanks for looking! Dave
  3. ...more pics
  4. Hey, My first post here, (aside from introduction) of the AMT Slingshot dragster from the 3 in 1 kit. First some preliminary nail polish. Added some decals and clear. Lastly a motivational mock-up. Going with the twin mill set-up. Likely most have seen this car many times, hopefully my take will be different enough not to be a bore. Thanks for looking! Dave
  5. Hey, New guy here. Wanted to say hello and thanks for having me. I like to build older drag racers, muscles cars, etc. I've tried a few other types lately, a Reynard Indy car, and a Nissan sports car are a couple of the out of the norm builds I've done recently. Some amazing work and talent on this site. Dave
