1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Dave42 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Simply amazing work. I've been watching for awhile, not really qualified to comment, aside from just saying this a level of modeling I've never imagined. Sorry to hear about moving the engine. This might be easy for me to say since I don't have to do it, but, you're right, with as much work as you've put into this, you'd never be happy with leaving well enough alone. Anyway, you've got skill man. Dave -
More of the same here, I think it looks beautiful, all of it. I particularly like the stance and the trim work. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Later,

For the 1991 model year, Ford reintroduced a V8 option with the 4.9 L (302 cu in) Windsor 5.0 V8. The engine was used through the 1993 model year and produced 200 horsepower (150 kW) at 4000 rpm and 275 lb·ft (373 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm; gains of 35 horsepower (26 kW) and 25 lb·ft (34 N·m) of torque respectively over the 1988 Thunderbird, the previous Thunderbird to use this engine. Like the standard 3.8 L V6, the V8 was only mated to the AOD 4-speed automatic transmission. On the television program MotorWeek in a review of the 1991 Thunderbird and similar Mercury Cougar, a road test of a V8-equipped Thunderbird revealed that the car could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds; approximately two seconds faster than a standard V6 Thunderbird but about two seconds slower than a Super Coupe.[6] Is it possible, that it could have been opted for? I don't find anything that looks like you could have, but... just thought I'd try to help a fella out.

Great work. I've seen a lot of these in boxes, but very few built. Looks terrific. Later, Dave

More nice stuff guys. Nick, congrats on the show haul! I made it to the IPMS Dayton Chapter show yesterday. Met a member from here, Eric Cole. You couldn't meet a nicer guy, and his work speaks for itself. Check him out on here as "Eric C". Here's what I got: http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/subs-to-mcm/dsc05780.html The Mercedes was purchased due to major inspiration from seeing Eric's work first hand. Later, Dave

Thank you very much John and Billy. John, I'm excited as heck to share my stuff. I'm stoked that you checked it out! I know I've got a long way to go, but pretty pleased with the first time result. I'll learn a lot from you guys. Billy, it's the Monogram Black Widow kit. If you check out the link below you can see the box. Thanks for looking at my stuff. My Inspirational Model Car
Dave42 replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey guys, My inspiration was initially my father as he is the one that first exposed me to modeling. Then it was guys who's models were on display at the LHS, then the internet took off and holy smokes the world opened up. Found a particular site, then another, then this site. So, at this point I have so much inspiration from builders on these forums that there is no way to pick just one. So many different styles, techniques, designs, yada, yada. Anyway, just a few of the folks responsible for my most recent inspiration are: Dr. Cranky, John Teresi, Brett Tynan, Niko Lindstrom, Chris Sobak, Bernard Korn, Darryl (Mister Twister), Wayne Stevens, Rommel, Alyn, and of course Gregg for making this whole place possible, and the list goes on and on. Frankly, I'm still overwhelmed by what all is on this site. Later, -
Hey, I think this one tuned out real nice. Love the Green color and lots of little details. Nice work. Later,

Some nice rides here. Link to mine below. http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/subs-to-mcm/6661.html

Michael, thank you for the kind words. You're going to make me reeeeeeally embarrass myself,...there really is no chassis to speak of. I just hacked off the back, stuffed the tires up till they touched the body, added parts sliced off pieces from the back of the kit that the tubs came from,(Super Bee kit maybe)...to fill the big hole and sat it shiny side up, never planning to look underneath again, but you called me on it! Anyway, thanks again, I really do know better now...a link below to a couple of shots of the underside.. Later, http://public.fotki..../tubbed-camaro/

Nice Camaros everyone! Link to mine below.....don't laugh, although I did. I built this, oh, must have been 12 years or so ago. Waaaay too much paint, before I knew of BMF, no panels lines scribed, parting lines everywhere...wow...First Yellow car I ever did, first hack and cut, first tubbs, yada, yada, a poor but sentimental build I guess. Thank you Antonio and Brian! Antonio, kudos on your "Tegra", love the paint and clean as a pin. You do nice work for sure. I attached a link below to a pic of that nail polish..."60 Second Vinyl Shine" by RIMMEL. Brian, checked out some of your stuff too. Love the wagon and trailer, and your Yellow 57 Chevy looks immaculate! Darryl, I tracked you down as well. Wow man, your weathering is amazing! I've only tried my hand at that once so far. Have to do more. Your "Vintage Drag Junker" and the Dunn Bros. Team build are two of my favorites! Awesome work. All you guys are crazy good modelers and I'm stoked that you've checked out and complimented my stuff, thanks! http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/1970-challenger-fun/568274-1.html'>http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/1970-challenger-fun/568274-1.html http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/

Thank you very much Brett, Niko, Rodney, and Rick. I appreciate your compliments. Brett, your racers are awesome, you do great work. And how cool is it that your wife builds too? I say very cool, and her builds look great too! Niko, love your Farm Rod! Rodney, still trying to track you down, haven't yet, but thanks for checking out my stuff. Rick, same with you, haven't found your work yet, but looking....and your BBQ stuff looks awesome! Thanks guys!

I don't mind at all, I'm flattered. Thank you for the compliment. Most all are shiny, but I'm working on my first rusty one now, all because of you. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey everyone, Just wanted to post a finished one here. My most detailed build to date, a far cry from more than most on this site, but I tried a lot of new things, materials, etc. Learned a lot, would definitely do some things differently, but I'm ok with most of the firsts. Thanks for checking out my stuff. Later, http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/1970-challenger-fun/

Definitely one of the coolest looking models I've seen. Too many details to pick a favorite, but a couple of my favorite parts are the ammo belt, and the way you chopped it and left that long sloping window. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff! Later,

Looks great. The paint looks like it's still wet. The trim is sweet too! Later,
