Hey Eric, Beautiful build here. Clean as a pin as always. Thanks for the info on the finish. As the others have said, it's the deal sealer on this one! Thanks for sharing it here.

1953-ish Ford Pickup
Dave42 replied to Dave42's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you Manny, I appreciate you checking out my stuff. That Camaro was fun, but done a while back so I'm a bit embarrassed with the it not quite being finished/buttoned up. But, on the shelf I think it looks pretty cool too. I'm surprised that I have received a few compliments about that car.Thank you for yours. Thank you very much too Greg. Sorry it's been so long to reply. Anyway, I have been working on this truck. I needed to take some meat off of the wheels and wheel backs to make them fit the tires, opened up the front wheel backs to take some hubs that had tubing added to fit the kit front suspension. A pic of the wheels a bit further along. Primary painting to the interior...Red. Not sure how it would look with this body color, but seeing it, I like it. You guys? Minor engine beginnings, painted and foiled the interior of the bed, and a partial mock. I've gotten a couple of warnings about some fit and alignment on this kit...I'm proceeding cautiously. Not sure how to sub folder my WIP submissions in Fotki.... Hopefully not too difficult to discern what's new. Thanks for looking! http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/trucks/1953-ish-pickup-wip/build/ -
Very impressive work, love the engine detailing. I've seen some of your stuff elsewhere in the past, glad to have found you again. Really enjoy your work. Have this one in the stash, and this is great inspiration.

Well, your being one of the best goes without saying. I also like your choice of subjects, and the pics and explanations on materials and tools, etc. The finish on everyhting is top notch, but to me the realistic finish on the engine pieces is the simply amazing. Just glad I found this place, and am around at the right time to see your work. Thanks for sharing. -
Nice work here. I too like the color, and the combo with the White. Like your engine details too. Good WIP, some good tips and a cool kit. Later,

Wow, nice job on that front end. I struggle to bash two plastic kits together. Later,

I just got my first issue in the mail today! Woo Hoo! -
Quality not quantity. Very nice, very clean!
-
Really like the engine in that first one!
-
Very nice. Apparently skills are skills, no matter what the subject. I really like the body shape on this. I have an older F1 kit to build, but the body is shaped much differently. BTW, the tires are bad in that kit too. Later,

Thank you sir! -
Hey Everyone, I'd like to post what I'm working on, which is the mpc Ford Double Flip Pickup kit. There's a big gap in the front end out of the box. From what I can tell from ref pics, it looks like they were really kind of like that. I don't like it, so I filled it in. Body work is not my strong point, so it took forever for me to get it to were I couldn't see the work through the primer. But, I think I finally did. Pics show the box, then progressive shots to paint. Painted with nail polish. Thanks for looking! http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/trucks/1953-ish-pickup-wip/build/

The twelve days of Christmas
Dave42 replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Today I'd like to mention Donn Yost. I met him in person in March of this year at the first Buckeye Classic. Donn is an easily approachable guy. (I know because I approached him in the parking lot) I stood googly eyed as he answered my questions and shot the breeze with me and my wife several times over the course of the day. He showed an interest in what I was doing, what I was building, gave me suggestions and tips, everything. I watched him take (as usual) the BIG trophies, and had a blast having "hung out" with him, and having had some of my work on the tables along side his. I picked up the Airbrushing Show Quality Models DVD. It definitely improved my paint work, and I will be picking up the other. Anyway, just a highlight in this hobby for me. Thanks Donn, for being a grounded "regular" guy. -
...I don't know what to say....all just screaming bright colorful sterile looking bodies. I know little about AMC, is that a Matador? Like them all, especially the Red Willy's, the Blue Nova, and then out of left field with the weathered build.... ...oops, re-read Paul's post, Hornet....sweet.

Holy cow, I'm with everyone else here, sure looks like you stay at it. Every one looks so clean, and the patience you must have for all of that decal work... All of the drag cars along with the Skoal Olds, and Mini-Wheats builds are the ones that strike me the most. Impressive work and collection.

Today I send a shout out about our own Doctor Cranky. He has been as nice a guy as I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with online, and I only say online because that's the only way we've spoken. I'm sure he's just as cool in person. Even in the short time that I've been here, I've learned a lot from him. He and his work are definitely one of the high points here that make this forum enjoyable for me. Thank you good Doctor, for your enthusiasm, your willingness to share everything, and your positive attitude. -
Nice work. I too like the way you brought that front wheel back, and the exhaust wrap, and the fat front tire, and.....oh, I like it all!
-
Looks awesome. Is it just me, or does it looks like there is fuel in those lines in that second engine pic? Again, Awesome.
-
Very nice. Gorgeous paint, and great work on the panels lines.
-
Holy smokes what a bunch of builds. Nice work. I particularly like the Twister, the Heavy Chevy, and the rod with the Caddy motor. What a year!
-
Nice start, and I'm looking forward to this myself. Thanks for that tip about the glue. I too wondered how you guys do these White glue mock-ups considering the dry time, but that explains it.

Wow, love this one. Incredible shine and I like the trim around the fender wells. Yeah, I wouldn't be forgetting this one. It would be proudly displayed.
