what glue do you use
cmfowler replied to Greg K's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As mentioned several times it depends on the situation. plastic to plastic I use either testors liquid glue or Texan and similar types of glues for all other types of bonding that does not involve clear parts I will usually use Bob Smith CA or an epoxy. I have recently started to use canopy glue for any joint that involves clear parts. so far I have had excellent luck with it as it drys clears and is easy to clear if you get any on the part. -
Very nice work, can't wait to see more.

Aoshima's Lamborghini Murcielago R-SV 2010
cmfowler replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I will most likely be picking up the Blancpain version whe it comes out. I am sure someone will come along with decals eventually, i know someone has a set out already, can't remember who, just not fond of the paint scheme on that particualr set. -

Ambroid Pro Weld: Where to buy it?
cmfowler replied to GMP440's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
According to my LHS the company only produces it a couple times a year with it currently being out of production. -
I have gotten off to a slower start than I expected, but that is ok. First off Since the satin chrome will have to be stripped off most of the parts I have started the process of painting spoons with various shades of alclad to see which one most closely resembles the factory color. I'm not one for following the directions in order, I like to get all of the major body components out of kits and assemble them as far as I can prior to paint to make final assembly easier, so I cut the fenders off the sprue as well as the tank pieces. I assembled the tank after after a rough cleaning which the fenders got as well, I will be going back later to smooth out the sanding scratches prior to primer Next I Assembled the frame with all the pieces that will be painted the same color, following that I started on the engine. I only completed the first couple steps of engine assembly as there are several and each fin of the cylinder is an individual piece that will be painted chrome followed by black to get the right effect, I expect the engine to take some time. And of course I had to put it together for a quick mock up.

Very nice color combination. I like matte finishes on some cars, can just make them look sinister which this does. Have to ask what color brown you used on your interior? really like how it turned out.

I have decided that I am going to start work on the new Tamiya 1/6 scale Fat Boy Lo. This kit looks to be really nice with not many issues, The biggest disappointment is with the brakes and exhaust, this is why I got the detail set which has some really nice replacements for the stock parts. Another disappointment is while the chrome platting looks really good each piece has a flaw somewhere that I just will not be able to deal with for what I am expecting to get out of this build. This means I will have to strip each piece and redo with alclad. I will be finishing this kit with Scale Finishes paints in Harley Hot White Denim. Anyways, fair warning I do not work fast and am currently taking Masters classes so updates might be slow and far in between.

As someone who grew up in the Tulsa area, I can see how some see the historical significance of the car, I however find it to be an embarrassing failure on Tulsa's part to not have the capsule properly sealed. It was mentioned earlier that this car was suppose to come up in pristine or close to pristine condition, instead they opened up a capsule full of water since it was not sealed properly. The city of Tulsa and its suburbs have so much more history to be proud of as well as some not to be, but at least carries historical significance that this car is really insignificant other than the fact it is the one that was buried in 1957. I would truly be upset if my tax dollars were used to maintain a display of this car anywhere in the state, if someone wants to buy it and display it in there own personally owned museum that is another thing, at most the car needs to be documented and photographed and can be a wall display, regardless it needs to be crushed to avoid giving someone tetanus.

Where do you build?
cmfowler replied to Arbatron's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Have a glass l-shaped desk in a large upstairs room that doubles as one of my sons play areas. Do almost all my work in this room except for airbrushing which I have a paint booth in the garage. -
Not all today, but in the very recent past I picked these up.
