Model car builders are cheapskates, right?
cmfowler replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$400 each for the Tamiya 1/12 Carrera GT and Enzo. I have over $500 in a Scale Motorsport 935 super detail kit as the most expensive model related purchase. -
Coming along great, can't wait to see more.

Off to a great start. Will be following this as I picked one up recently myself.

bingo, suppose to make bright reds pop, from what I have read Ferrai uses a pink primer under their bright reds. I ordered some from seal model but it is going to take 2 months to get here. Would like to find a closer source if possible. Cannot find anything stateside yet.

I built one awhile back, I don't remember any major fit issues but I do remeber getting the body side panels all put together was a bit finicky with the small pieces. Builds into a nice model.

I use to visit escale at least once a week to see what was new. I really enjoyed the guys over there that focused on motorcycles, some amazing builds in that category as well as all the others, nice group and I will miss the forum

I agree, I would like to see a category just for Motorcycles, I enjoy building them and I know there are some amazing builds out there.

The owner has retired and sold the business to another individual. New owner should be open soon from what I have read on Facebook.

Very clean, great build. Looks almost exactly like mine.

I enquired about shipping from him earlier. He said he had several ready that he would ship when he got back from NNL. -
Picked up a Aoshima Sesto Elemento from my LHS. Very nice kit. Just cant seem to stay away from Lamborghini kits.

Trophies, plaques and medals/ribbons
cmfowler replied to Nacho Z's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have entered contest since 2010 when I really got back into modeling, I have won my fair share from the contest I have entered, I have won Plaques and medals, Which I much prefer over a trophy as to me they would be easier to display, which one day I eventually will. I have a dedicated space in my hobby room for the awards I do have, just have yet to get around to displaying them, they are currently all stacked up. As nice as awards are, I have to 100% agree with this one, I like the feeling of placing at a contest, but the one time I have had my model in a magazine is better than all of my awards combined. -
This was awesome to see in person, very deserving of its awards.

Looks very nice. Will have to pick a set up. -
From what I have seen and read I'm guessing a Lamborghini Diablo and Huracan and the Pagani Huayra.

The Italian track car, which I would guezs would be the FXX-K, and the championship motorcycle have my interest. -
What kits did you get for Christmas?
cmfowler replied to 95neon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No kits but was given money to order the K's Workshop 2015 YZR-M1 transkit I wanted. Should be here in a few weeks. My In-laws gave me a giftcard to my LHS so that was nice. -
Whats your work area like?
cmfowler replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is an older picture of my setup as I have since moved it to inside the dormer space in my upstairs room. -
I have a Grex Tritium TG as well and love it. I use it for everything except small jobs where I use a Badger 360.

My last order from him took some time to come in, but it did and everything was great. I know he has been having internet issues which is hindering his communication as well as running his business I am sure. I have only had one instance of the paint peeling up including the primer, I think that had more to do with my surface prep than the quality of his paint.

i'll be following this one, like the idea and work so far.
