1996 Chevy Dually (finished)
59 Impala replied to 59 Impala's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Joe. There's nothin under the hood. I don't have an engine for it at this time, so, the hood is just closed and not glued on. Dan -
I got this truck done a few days ago. I really like this kit even though it's a snap kit. I made the mud guards out of a piece of rubber and originally made a resin hood. Well, I found an original hood for it and used it instead of the resin one. I installed the 5th wheel for a trailer later on. Here are some pics of it now. I hope ya like it.

Here's the only one that I have. It's a 68 Johan kit and made like Adam 12 if they drove Fury's. Dan

Does anybody make the decals for the 1970 GTO "Tin Indian"?

Thanks guys. This was a combination of glue bomb, parts box and original kit parts to accomplish a built car. I'm happy with how it turned out. It was my first experiment with the bigger wheels from the new Camaro kit. I've had some good and bad remarks about the wheels, but, they will stay for this build. I thought the 29 wheels were big for the stock car and these looked about the same size but wider. So, I thought why not? Anyway, they don't look to bad. I myself really don't care for these type of wheels, but they look Ok for this car. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Dan

Great! Glad to have ya. Dan -
Thanks guys. I agree Phil, but this was an experiment and one of the guys in our club ave me the wheels to see how they would look on this car. I'm not a real fan for these types of wheels, but it dosen't look to bad. But you're right, I think it would look better with smaller wheels especially up front. Marty, it is Aztec Gold on the top and fenders and Brilliant Yellow Gold on the body, hood and grill. The Aztec is almost Inca sorta, kinda. LOL. Dan

1996 Chevy Dually

Thanks David. I'm going to polish it tonight and I'm thinking of installing an engine in it. One of the guys in our club has a 454 that he's going to give me to install it in the engine bay. There's a lot of work to be done to do this though. We'll see how this turns out. Dan -
Thanks Alan. This has been a good experience for me to combine the Ala Kart parts to the 29. The frame had to be altered along with the bottom of the fender section to get them to go together. Also, the 409 had to have some more work done to the chassis so that it would fit. ai'm leaving the windshield the way it is, mainly because it's glued to the top. Mistake on my part. I did have to chop the windshield a tad to fit the top and I'm using a 40 Ford dash that had to be modified a little to fit the body. More work to be done before she's finished. Dan

Almost done. I'm waiting for the steering wheel to dry and then I think she's ready to put together. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

She's gettin close. It's kinda hard to see but there is two different Gold pearls on this car. The body, hood and grill are Brilliant Yellow and the fenders are Aztec Gold. The body is sprayed over Testors Gold and the fenders were sprayed over Gray. I sprayed Testors one coat clear over everything. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Got a little work done tonight. Still more work to do on the fenders before I can put the color back on. The chassis is done and waiting. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate the kind words. Here are a couple more pics of how it looks from the side. Dan

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Greg, I responded to your PM. Dan

Thanks Carl. This was a fun build for me. Dan

I finally got some color on this and now I have to strip the fenders and re paint. The rear fenders had air bubbles on them and the left one had what looked like wrinkle paint for some reason. Here are a couple pics. I also got the chassis painted with Alclad chrome. Bummer, but that's the way things go sometime. Dan

Thanks Dave. I'm an Akron boy myself. Born and raised there. Left in 67 for the Army and came back in 70. Moved down here in 98 and miss Akron a lot. Your last name seams familiar to me for some reason. I just can't place it. Old age I guess. Dan

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. There was a lot of work to get the Cadillac interior and top to fit this body. I almost didn't finish this because of the fit issues. But, I'm happy with how it turned out. Dan

Thanks guys. My love for the 56 Packard tail lights I guess is from the 56 Packard Executive that my Dad had. That car was the best riding car I ever rode in. All torsion ride. I've always wanted one ever since, but they are out of my price range for sure. Dan
-
Thanks guys. The original tail lights came from Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland. They come with the bezels, tail lights and backup lights. Part number RH-303. They are excellent parts I might say. I'd buy from them again.
