I think you're right Edward. I'm just glad to have the two that I got. The one is going to stay a long bed and of course this one is a short bed plus a 1/2 ton and not 3/4 ton. -

Thanks guys. You got that right Dan. I agree with you Mark. I like the Dodge trucks also. This one was a long bed and I shortened it to represent my truck as close as I can make it. Dan -

Thanks Dan. I don't know where the wheels came from. They were in a parts box. I got everything painted flat Black a while ago. Lots more work to be done. Your cap looks awesome. Oh, and by the way, you have a good name. LOL Dan -

Thanks Edward. I hear ya on the old kits. I have one long bed and some parts of another, so, I'm trying to replicate one that I had. Of course mine was an 87 and this is an older model, but that doesn't really matter. It will be close enough for me. It will be the same color though. I have the touch up paint for the 1:1 truck. The kit that I have all the parts for is a 3/4 ton truck with 8 lug wheels and this one is a 1/2 ton Power Ram with 6 lug wheels. I'm just glad that I have the kit with everything needed and was able to copy the parts needed. I had to shorten the bed and the chassis along with the rear drive shaft to fit. -

I had a double post so I deleted this post. -
In the pickup on the workbench thread about my 4x4 dodge pickup I have no permission to view my own post. Why? What happened that I can't even view it. All the other posts are fine, it's just this one and I have no clue of what happened. Please help. Dan

I'm sorry I posted this in the wrong thread. Can one of the moderators move it to Under glass, pickups, vans, suv's and light commercial? Thanks. Dan -

Sorry it took so long to post more pics. I made copies of the parts I needed from another kit. The drive line parts are made of resin. I used fingernail resin for the drive shafts and front shocks. The rear shocks came from the parts box. I also opened up the windows on the top. Still a lot of work to be done. The 4x4 6 lug wheels are also from the parts box. The long bed is a 3/4 ton truck and I couldn't use the wheels cause they're 8 lug. Thanks fer lookin. Dan -

Lookin good Paul. I'm gonna keep on watchin this build. Dan -
I don't know. I think it's kind of a good idea though. I think it would be neat. Dan
-
Thanks Glen. Its gonna be stock height with Gabriel Hijackers under it. I'm old school when it comes to this type of build. (Except for the bubble top)

I've been doing some work on the 59 El Camino. At first I was just going to build the camper shell, but now I've gone and started to build the whole slide-in camper with a twist. I'm installing a smoked bubble top so ya can see the stars at night when ya go to bed. I used Tamiya's smoke for the tint and it doesn't look very good For some reason there's tiny pin holes in the paint. I've cleaned it three times and still get the same result. I even cleaned it with Tamiya's thinner and had the same result. It just might stay this way looks like. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

I'm working on getting the 409 to fit. I had to remove some material from the chassis and fender areas so the exhaust would fit without hitting the frame. Also I have to come up with a different spot for the generator or alternator cause either one sticks out past the area for the hood. I might try my buddy Chris's way and put either one under the body and hooked up to the drive shaft. Don't know yet. Dan

Thanks guys. Eric, I do use Evergreen Plastic that I get at the hobby store. They have all kinda of different plastic to do scratch building with. Dan, it's not the weather that I'm worried about here in my basement (LOL). I just haven't been in the painting mood I guess. Sorry 'bout the unheated garage, I have one of those myself and it would really be bad to have to wait for better weather fer sure. Dan

A small update on the 29. I had to chop the windshield a scale 11/2 inches to get the top to fit. This is the stance that I'm going for and I still have a lot of work to do. I'm hoping that the 409 will fir under the hood. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

I only have one picture from last night. You can see the bed and the air conditioner in this pic. Lots more work to do. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
-
Thanks for all the kind comments guys. I'm not going to do any interior detailing for this one. This is my first try at doing this kind of build. I have found a small air conditioner unit from a truck kit that will set on top of the camper and also resized a bed from the parts box. I'll post pics from last nights work when I get them loaded to the computer. Dan

Ok, since I can't seem to get any painting done I've started another project. I'm scratch building a camper for the 59 El Camino. I used the camper from the 65 El Camino for reference. The one for the 59 is a tad bigger than the one for the 65. I started on this last night and this is where it's at at the moment. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

This is turning out to be a bigger build than I thought. I found a couple of Ala Kart parts that I didn't know I had in the parts box. I had to modify the top and hood to fit the 29 body. I'm also using a 40 Ford dash. I do like the looks of how this is turning out though.

Thanks Ted. One thing is, I'm not looking forward to the chrome on this car cause, there is a lot of it. This will have to set for a few days so the paint will cure. It is still a little tacky today. When it's ready, I'll put on the chrome with BMF and maybe some with the chrome pen from molotow. Dan
-
Got some progress done. Here are some pics of the look that I'm going for. I have to paint the interior and do the chrome trim and last but not least, the engine. More to come. Dan

Thanks John. This is great information. Dan
