Thanks guys. I enjoy rebuilding these glue bombs more than building new kits. Dan
-
I'm rebuilding this glue bomb and I sprayed Boyd's True Blue Pearl over Black for the main body. The interior, top and coves were sprayed with Boyd's Pacific Blue. The top also has a coat of dull cote to tone it down. Here are some pics of it as of today. I had to repair the front end so that I could pose the wheels. You can't turn them very much because of the headers though. I will use BMF probably tomorrow night and our Nerd Night at the hobby shop. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Yep. I used the four speed from AMT's 57 Chevy. Just remove the auto with bell housing and replace that with the four speed and bell housing from the 57 or other Chevy with a four speed. Dan

Thanks Brian. There's still a lot of work to be done. I'm letting the top, hood and trunk dry a few days before I mask it off and spray the Gold. I wish that Revell made these cars with a 4 speed and no power steering instead of the automatic that comes in the kit of this car and the 59. Also, they should have changed the spare tire well because the 60 didn't have one. They used the chassis from the 59. But, I did change that for this car. Dan

Thanks guys. Here are some more pics of Rex's car. I made a resin copy of the grill and a clutch pedal. I also got the white sprayed on this afternoon. It will dry a few days and then I'll spray the Gold on. Dan

Thanks guys for the information. I have a small update on this. I've made a copy of the grill in fingernail resin and I'm working on that to modify it instead of using the kit grill and messing it up. LOL. Here are some pics of what I did today. Dan

It's been awhile since I responded and I want to thank Mike for the nice comment. I had to re-post a couple of pictures because Photobucket is history and I can't even go there to my own pictures. I am now working on Rex White's 60 Impala and have started posting pictures from another source. Dan

This is the beginning of my build of this car. I haven't found any good pictures of the interior yet so I'm concentrating on the body and chassis for now. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks guys. I enjoyed building this and it now sets with 11 other replicas of some of the cars that I've owned. Dan

I just finished the 76 Esprit tonight. It's not to bad. Some of the parts were a pain to put together but, everything turned out Ok. Here are some pics of her. Looks like the one we had a few years ago. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks guys. I do have a mold of the Formula hood but it isn't a very good one. I also don't have a vacuum pot to help get rid of air bubbles. Dan

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Michael, I used Testors enamels in the little bottles. Dan

Thanks guys. Brian, if you can come to the meeting it will be at Hobbyland on the first Thursday, August 3rd. We are trying this out to see if we can get more people to come to the meetings. Dan

Thanks guys. Dan, the flat hood is a resin copy of the other one. I don't have the right equipment to make a good copy. I had a lot of holes to fill in and a whole lot of work to remove the scoops. Also, the vents on the flat hood aren't very good either. There are some pin holes in them and I'm not going to try and fill them in. It looks ok to set on the shelf though. This one is also the second one that I made. The first one didn't come out all there and I almost gave up on making one. I almost didn't even use this one because I was so dissapointed on how it turned out. I really didn't want to do all the work to get it to look good enough to use. But I really wanted to make a replica of the 76 that we had and so I spent a lot of time fixing this one. From 10 feet it looks good enough. Ha ha. Dan

Thanks John. I sprayed the color on the car tonight and here are some pics. I mixed Sapphire Blue and Metallic Black to get this color and it looks perfect for the car that we had. Lucky again. Dan

I'm going to try and build this as the Espri Firebird. I've made a copy of the MPC Formula hood and removed the two scoops to make a flat hood. Here is a pic of the start of this build. Dan

Here are the pictures from my computer. They uploaded much faster than the hosting site. The tail lights are 58 Impala front parking lights with Red lens in them. I used parts from the parts box to complete this car and I used the slant 6 from a 64 Plymouth kit. I don't call this a rat rod just an old hot rod. This also looks like I lengthened the frame, but I just moved the body back on the frame to accommodate the 6 banger. I hope ya like it. Dan

This is a test for the 25T<a href="https://postimg.org/image/6ijo48l5b/" I think that I'll keep posting pics from my computer instead of going to this site for this forum. I can post pics instead of links to the pics on the computer. I do like the new hosting site for other forums though.

Thanks guys. I've mixed up enough of this color to paint one more car. The mix is like all the others that I've done and don't remember how much of each color I used. Bummer. All except one, and that was a green that I painted a 53 custom Ford. I used Testors light green and it was a PLA color mix. The newer color is not the same shade and me and another hobbyist spent 4 hours one Saturday mixing the colors needed to get the same shade. That one I have written down. I guess that I should write down all the mixes, but I just didn't think of it at the time. Bill, we'd love to have you attain our show. We are getting bigger and better every year. This past show we had guys from Delaware and Maine and it was their first ever show and they said that they will be back next year. We also get people from all the surrounding states and from the South. So far, Jim Haught from Scale Auto has been at our show four years in a row. We hope to get someone from Model Cars to come and take pictures also. I think last year there was someone from MC who did take pics, not sure. Anyway, have a great day and keep on buildin. Dan

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's nice to have people who are willing to help out others when needed. That's why I love this hobby and the kind people in it. Helping others is what this is all about. Bill, if you can ever get to Columbus Ohio in March for our contest (Buckeye Scale Auto Club), I would greatly like to meet you. Dan

I want to thank Bill Geary for the top of this car. I was able to save it by using the 59 Impala top. I still have some work to do on the chassis so that it will fit up under the body. I mixed Brass, Gold, Copper, Metallic Red and Ruby Red to get the color. It's mostly Copper, but has a little Red tint to it. Again, thanks Bill. I hope you guys like it. Dan

Thanks Mike. The fingernail resin works great for this type of work. I was somewhat surprised at the outcome of the fenders but I do like how it turned out, plus, I was able to save the model from the trash. Dan
-
I didn't see the lettering on the left front fender was crooked until I posted the pics. I have fixed that. Dan

She is finished. The rear wheels are a little to far forward, but that's the way they fit. I'm really happy how this car turned out from what I started with. Now, she can sit on the shelf, retired and relax for the rest of time. LOL.

I wondered what happened to this post. My bad, I guess that I posted it in the wrong place. Sorry 'bout that. Dan
