  1. Thanks guys. These are what I'm looking for. I don't remember if they are Slixx or Fred Cady though. I keep looking on e-bay for these. Dan
  2. Thanks Tommy. I hope that I can do this right. The biggest thing is finding the decals I need for it.
  3. She's back in the color again. I got 'er painted this morning about 30 minutes ago. Now, I will wait for it to dry and start putting it back together. I tried to paint it the same as before. It's close and I'm happy with it now. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  4. I started this build last night and got the blue paint on. It needs a little touch up and then the white. I'm also looking for the decals for this car. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  5. Bob, it is the MPC kit but I got it as a glue bomb and had to piece this together. It was the 72 Firebird and I back dated it to a 70. I got the decals from e-bay a long time ago. I have the 70 GTO that I've started to build that car. I do need to find the decals for this car also. I started a new post on the GTO. Thanks. Dan
  6. Thanks Dann, and I agree with the Formula hood. Dan
  7. Thanks guys for the kind words. It didn't turn out too bad for a glue bomb I guess. It's not perfect, but it's a "Tin Indian". LOL I have built 8 different "Tin Indians" now and I have two more to build, a 68 and a 70 GTO. I need to find some more decals for the 70. I have a set for the 68. I built the Monogram 68 but, I don't like that kit and I'm looking for a MPC kit to build. One of these days I'll find one and not costing an arm and leg. LOL. Dan
  8. She's almost finished. I have a little painting to do for the side marker lights and then finish assembling it. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  9. Here's the latest update for this car. I have it in flat black primer and I also had to scratch build the rear spring cause there wasn't one to be found in the box. There is still a little more work to be done on the body and hood before the rest of the colors go on. I also have to find a set of rear brakes for it. those were missing also. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  10. Thanks guys for all the help. I have stripped this and started to repaint it. Here are some more pics. You can see what the paint looked like after I sprayed the clear, The pic of the top shows what happened. I almost left it like the second pic as a barn find but, I stripped it all off and had to redo the body work. The last pic shows it in gray primer and now it's in black primer. and I'm going to try and paint it the same as it was. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  11. I got 'er stripped and cleaned up and did some body work on 'er. She's almost ready to start painting again. I still have to figure out a way to down size my pictures so I can post more without deleting others. Dan
  12. Thanks Bill. I built the Mako Shark and painted it like the 1:1 car. It looks Ok to me, White on the bottom and the Blue on top. This will be repainted the same as I did this time but, this time I won't spray the clear over all the other paint that was used. I think that the Testors clear was not compatible with the Model Master glitter in clear. At least that's what I think. We'll see. It's soaking in Dawn Power Desolver now and I will check later to see if its ready to be stripped all the way. The fade away is easier to do than masking and painting in my opinion. At least not as much work involved. LOL. Dan
  13. Glad to hear that you are working. If you can't make it to the meetings, that's Ok. I hope you can come to the contest in March. Now, for the bad news, I had to strip the Corvette. I do have a choice though. I can build it as a barn find that has been neglected for many years or complete the stripping and repaint it. I'm trying to make the pictures smaller so I can post some. I'm not having very much success yet. Dan
  14. Well, she went for a swim in the Purple pond. I couldn't get the crazing out and sanded thru in a couple of spots. A do over. Dan
  15. Thanks Brian and I have no idea why they ended up like that. I'm hoping that I can save the paint on this. Are you going to be able to come to the show in March? I think that Don has a shirt for you. Hope to see ya at the next meeting in Feb. at Donato's at Easton. Thanks Snake. I could leave it this way , but I really don't like the look. Besides, I've already started wet sanding and it just might turn out Ok. Just a lot of work that I didn't want to do. Oh well, sometimes ya get the cake and sometimes the cake gets you. What ever that means. LOL. Dan
  16. I may have to repaint this car. Bummer. I sprayed Testors gloss clear on it this morning and the wife and I went out for awhile. When we came home I checked this to see how it was going and the paint under the clear crazed. I'm trying to save it by wet sanding and so far, it's going Ok. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though. I really don't want to strip this and repaint it. This is also the first time that Ive had this problem so I don't know what happened. Dan
  17. Thanks Jim. I'm working on the chassis parts now. I have to figure out what I'm gonna do about the rear brakes cause they are missing. I didn't know that when I started on this rebuild. I think I have a set of tires and wheels for it. I wont know until I assemble the chassis if I can use them. I also have an original Mako Shark that I built as a replica of the rear car. The paint job was another thing for that one also. I'll post more as I get things done. Dan
  18. Thanks Dave. There were some parts missing when I got this car, like the rear brakes, tires and wheels all around. I think I have some tires and wheels I can use. I don't know what I'm gonna do about the rear brakes though. I do have a Mako Shark that's together, but I don't want to take it apart to make a set of the brakes. I'll find something I can use I think. I also had to make the rear bumper, no problem. I made copies of the Mako's hood vents and I think that I'm gonna use them on this car, not sure yet. I also had a pair of front springs that I can use to make that operational. This reissue didn't have the metal springs that were in the Mako kit but the parts are movable. I had to strip some of the parts that I do have for the chassis and the are soaking in Dawn Power Desolver to get the Gold paint off. Dan
  19. It worked, I deleted some pictures and now I can upload some more of this car. These are pictures of the painting that I did earlier today. I Sprayed the gloss Black yesterday and then Silver over the high spots and then candy Ruby Red over that and last multi color flake in clear over everything. I will let it dry a few days and while it's drying I am going to work on the chassis and interior. Thanks again guys for the help on the pictures and I hope ya like how this turned out. Dan
  20. Thanks guys for the comments. I do have a Photobucket account but it's full (100%) so that leaves that out. I'll try and go back and delete some of the old pictures and see if that helps. Gerald, my model didn't have the hump in the hood, it had an awful large hood scoop on it. What I did was fill in the hole that was left when I removed the scoop. I do have a Mako Shark that I built when I was a kid and I restored it a couple of years ago. I think that I'm going to use reproduction vent pieces that I made from a mold that I did of the Mako's parts. Not sure yet. I'll post more if I can get the space. I will also try and reduce the size of the pictures here at home before I upload them. Thanks again. Dan P.S. Gerald, your Vette looks great also.
  21. Apparently, I can't upload any more pictures for this build. So, I don't know what to do now. It says the maximum size I can load is 0.17 mb's. The pictures are all over 2 mb's. I got the colors on that I wanted and I think it looks perty good. I sprayed gloss Black, then Silver on the peeks of the body and hood. Next, I sprayed candy Ruby Red over that and then multi colored flakes over everything. It will dry for a few days and while it's drying I'll work on the chassis and interior. Dan
  22. I got the first color coat on just a few minutes ago and it's gloss Black. I'll try and get some pictures up. Dan
  23. Thanks Dan and I sure will keep this one going. I want to see it done also. Here is an update on the hood. I still have some work to do on it. I can only post one picture at a time I guess. I think my pictures are a little to big to post more than one at a time. Anyway, I am working on the body at the same time and will post when I can. I finally found a way to resize the pictures and now I can post more.
  24. This is one of the custom versions of the Mako Shark that I'm rebuilding. It's the one with the (I think) horrible hood that sticks up way to hi in my opinion. Anyway, here are a couple of pics fer ya. I'll post more pics of the work being done. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  25. Great, I'd like to see your build when you get started David. I think the Revell 60 or 65 Chevy truck has a 250 in it. I don't know of any other kit that has one.
