  1. Thanks guys and I sure was lucky to find this one for sure. Dan
  2. Thanks David, and I hope you find one priced reasonably. I just stumbled upon this one from a guy that just wanted to give his models to a club here in Columbus Ohio.
  3. Thanks Lou. I had a lot of fun rebuilding this car. Here is a before pic and an after pic. redoing the hood was the hardest part. Dan
  4. I got a little more done on this car this morning. Just a tad more and she'll be done.
  5. I had to rework the hood cause a little bit of the body work was showing and I got 'er fixed and repainted. The hood's drying and I'll get back to this as soon as I can. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  6. I added some mesh to the grill to replicate the 70 grill. I also got a little more done and here is what she looks like so far. Soon I'll be putting on the decals and finishing 'er up. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  7. I like it so far Steve. Lookin good. Dan
  8. Thanks Dan. I have to paint the interior and start putting this back together. Dan.
  9. Thanks Ace. Much appreciated. Dan
  10. Now these are what I call real GLUE BOMBS. Love 'em guys. These are right up my ally. Pieces of cake ifin ya ask me. LOL. Dan
  11. Thanks guys and that's some very interesting information ACE. I'm from Akron originally and remember some of these cars. I saw the same pics of the 70 Firebird you're talking about and I don't think it's possible for me to duplicate that paint scheme. LOL. That's why I chose this one. The only picture I found of this is the one of the kit and it's the blue and white scheme. I know it's wrong but it's the only one that I can do. One things for sure and that is, you can't find enough pictures of the different cars that Knafel ran back then. I also built a 2004 GTO as if Knafel was still in business and was running them in 2004. I kinda used the 66 champion cars paint theme with the outline letters with the red outline instead of the black. Very interesting stuff for sure. Snake, the Blue is Testors Sapphire Blue. I sprayed it over flat black. Dan P.S. I'd love to build the 67 Canadian Pontiac (Nova) only if I could get the Pontiac parts to convert the AMT kit to Canadian.
  12. To tell you the truth Bill, I don't know. It's been so long ago that I got them and there's no information on the back of the decal. I also want to do the 70 GTO. I have the kit and need the decals for that car. I have a friend who has an Alps printer and he is supposed to be working on making the decals for the GTO for me. I have built 9 different cars that were run as "Tin Indians". Starting with the 62 Catalina that was Anderson Pontiac's car but Bill Knafel ran the business and it finally became Knafel Pontiac. I built the 66 Champion car (GTO) and it was in Scale Auto Contest issue a couple years ago. Thanks Dennis. You have the same name as one of my cousins in W.VA. Dan
  13. Thanks Chris. The brand I use is Montana medium acrylic enamel reducer TH4900. It's hard to say what ratio I use cause I use the little Testors bottles and I usually put in about a quarter inch of paint and then fill it the rest of the way with reducer. It is a very thin mixture for sure. I made an adapter for the Testors bottles so I can use them with my airbrush. I hope this helps. Dan
  14. Here are a couple of mock up pics of what she'll look like when finished. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  15. Here are a couple of mock up pics and I sprayed the Metallic Black a few minutes ago. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  16. Thanks Joe. I use Testors little bottle paints sprayed through an air brush. I also use real car enamel reducer to thin the paint. It works a lot better than using Testors thinner. Testors thinner takes a long time to dry and the reducer I use dries almost like lacquer. Plus, the paint flows better with the reducer. Dan
  17. Thanks Joe for the kind words. I'm working on the interior and chassis and in a few days I'll put the decals on it. Dan
  18. Thanks and Yes David, this is the AMT kit. I didn't take the fenders apart on this kit because they look pretty good just the way they are. I do have one in it's original box setting on the shelf and I'll build that one some time in the future. I got this one last Friday from a guy that gave a bunch of kits to our club and didn't want any money for them. Most of them are what we call glue bombs but, they aren't really bad and most just need tender loving care. I don't have the rear seat for this and I will be using two bucket seats from the 70 Monti Carlo for the rear seats. Dan
  19. Thanks David, the hood was what came with it. The front part of the hood had two pieces that were separate and I had to glue them and fill the seams. The kit is one of the Formula Firebird. The only difference between the 70 and 72 is I think the grills. What I'm doing is using some wire mesh instead of the part that fits in the opening for the grill. I hope this makes since.
  20. Thanks Snake. I just got this last Friday and I'm wanting to get-er-done. For a glue bomb, it came apart pretty easily. The guy didn't go crazy with the glue to put it together and the paint came off real easy in the Purple pond. Dan
  21. Thanks Christopher, I think so too. I'm going to paint the top a Metallic Black when it sets for a few days to dry. I can't wait to see how this turns out. Dan
  22. Thanks Dan. After a few days I'll put the decals on. I have a little work to do on the interior and engine/chassis, then I hope it will be done. Dan
  23. I got it sprayed with flat black, washed it and prept it for paint. Masked the top off and sprayed Ruby Red on the sides. Now, it will set for a few days and then I'll spray the top another color. I'm liken this glue bomb so far. Thanks again fer lookin. Dan
  24. Here are some more pics. I used finger nail resin to fill in the hole in the hood and I had to fix a glue sink hole on the top. The hood still needs more work done to it. Thanks again fer lookin. Dan
  25. Here are some more pics. I sprayed the white on and let it dry a few days and today I masked it off and sprayed the Sapphire Blue. Now this will set for a few more days and I'll install the decals. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
