  1. Thanks a lot for the kind comments guys. I like repairing builds like this so they don't get thrown out. Plus, I learn a lot by trying to fix these builds. Always learning something new. Phirewriter, I will check them out. Thanks. Dan
  2. Thanks guys for the kind words. This was a fun but challenge build for me. The guy who gave it to me was surprised at how it turned out and so was I. I wanted to build it as a stock Pontiac, but because of the horrible condition that it was in, I had to go with custom. At least it won't end up in the trash. Dan
  3. These are the last pictures and I must say, it was a lot of work and I really enjoyed "fixing" this car as Dave wished. Thanks fer putting up with me on this build. Dan
  4. Here are more pics. Please remember that this is a custom which means any frame can be used along with anything else. The interior and chassis came from a 62 Pontiac Catalina cause it's a custom. Information for anyone who cares or not. She is finished. Dan
  5. Here are some more pics. The interior is from the AMT 62 Catalina custom parts. The chassis and floor pan after painting and the Blue dots on the tail lights. The bumper is sprayed with the Molotov ink. More to come. Dan
  6. Thanks guys. I've painted the chrome parts with the Molotov chrome ink. All the small parts and frame were sprayed with the air brush. The floor pan is gloss black.
  7. Thanks Steve. Here are some more pics of more work on the rear end. I had to fix the carvings on the rear of the body. These were really in bad shape. I wish somebody wouldn't have removed the inner fins on this car. The Pontiac looked perty good with both of them. Dan
  8. Thanks guys. I wanted to save as much of the grill as I could and the lights were the only parts that I could save. I'm using only lacquer paint on this build and I sprayed a very thin coat of Red Oxide primer, then another thin coat and lastly a heavier coat. No crazing. I had to fix the wavy sides of the body where the chrome used to be. Who ever carved this sure did a very bad job of it. More to come. Dan
  9. I had to fix the grill. The original one had something glued on both sides and was a mess. I used two grills (custom) from the AMT 53 Ford truck to make new ones. I did save the head lights from the original grill. I also had to repair the rear bumper. More to come. Dan
  10. I wish that mine looked this good at the beginning cause I wanted to keep it stock, but because of how much this thing was damaged, I had to make it custom.
  11. Thanks guys. Chris, if you look at the second picture, you can see where I cut the front part of the Revell piece and then I had to work it to fit the Pontiac's trim on the cowling. Dan
  12. Thanks guys. I tried to save the windshield frame, but it was broken in the middle and on both sides. Plus the windshield itself was cracked in two places. What I did was use the frame and windshield from the Revell 59 Impala. I had to adjust the frame a tad and it turned out very good. Here are three more pics to show some of the filler I had to use and fix the windshield frame. I am able to use the Revell windshield this way. I had to adjust the frame to fit the cowl trim and that worked out fine.
  13. Thanks guys and yes Steve, this is another custom fer sure. There is just to much damage to it to make it stock. This is how it looked after stripping it. The hood is cracked and the body is a mess. The windshield frame is broken and I tried to save it but that's a no go. I have to use other parts for that.
  14. I was given this car from one of the guys in our club (BSAC) with the stipulation that I had to (FIX) it. Well, here is the start of what I have to work with.
  15. Here are a few of my drag cars. I've built some replicas of Knafel Pontiac's "Tin Indians" and a what if (2004). A couple of my own and the "Red Alert" Chevelle SS. Dan
  16. Here's Nellybelle from the Roy Rogers TV show.
  17. Thanks and nice convertible Tom. Dan
  18. I made another set and installed them in Malcolm Durham's 63 build. I used a little less red die and I think that they turned out a little better. I don't have any pictures of them yet, but I'll take some and post them. Dan
  19. Thanks guys. This was a slump breaker. Dan
  20. I found a 4 barrel for the 59. I robbed it from a 57 and the 57 gets the 3 deuces. Dan
  21. Thanks for the info David. I'll keep my eye out for one of those kits. Dan
  22. Thanks David. The original kits had the tail lights molded in Red and the re-issues had the molded in lights and they also left out the fire wall. Also, the re-issues had a lump of an engine, not like the original which had a pretty good one for that time period. Dan
  23. I hate that AMT molded the tail lights in the back of this car along with some other stupid stuff (in my opinion). I've made some resin tail lights and back up lights for my builds. I've drilled out the lights on the Ronny Sox's car and will be installing the red and white ones. I will also use these in Malcolm Durham's car. Here are some pics of Sox's 63 Impala. Dan
  24. I am converting this car into a three speed on the tree and no power steering like the one I owned before I was drafted back in 67. This kit has an automatic and power steering which is wrong for my car, so, it has to be done. I also need a 4 barrel and manifold for this, but for now I'll keep the three deuces. I removed the automatic piece from the steering column. I made the transmission and bell housing with resin, added the clutch and removed the power steering. Now to finish it and put it back together. Dan
  25. Thanks for the kind words guys. Sean, I don't know yet. I have to come up with something to put in it. Time will tell.
