Yea Which ever of those Custom's was first is likely when the standard seat was lost The A-Team had 3 like those shown with the arm-rests, and one for the B.A. figure to sit in without them. I have 2 original A-Team kits. One I bought & started New, one I got at a yardsale for about $1.oo. It is almost a Glue-bomb, but still good for parts. I do see the 4 Rotator/flasher bases on the chrome tree. So why not offer the caps for police or Fire/Rescue options??

It is also an old Pyro tooling, but is more in line with what MPC was doing for 70's Annuals than what Pyro/Premier is mostly known for. i want one, but have not gotten lucky enough yet

The front Brake drum backing plates & rear seat insert were lost when AMT tooled the body & interior for the Sedan. Upon re-issuing the Nomad those part never returned. I bought the "W-M Value-Decorated" aka Pro-Shop version of the Nomad and they were not in the box. Hopefully Round2 will get the notice about the missing parts and fix this kit soon.

Are the Stock tires G70's?? Also, are they the Old AMT ones or the slightly larger MPC's?? I would think F series rubber would be more correct on this small a car.

How To Hinge Panel Delivery Rear Door
Edsel-Dan replied to Bruce Poage's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I made the hinges for mine out of Evergreen Here are 2 pic's that show the door I can take a few more with the door closed, and even off to show more detail. There are 3 sections of tube per hinge 2 on the body (top & bottom), one on the door (Center) I need to dig her out to see if the pins are evergreen rod or wire pin. I tried the same method on Revell's 48 Woody, but they kept breaking off. I since have made Piano type hinges out of tin pie pans, super-glued/eoxied to the frame & doors -
The rear plates were always there There were 2 sets. neither were chrome I got lucky in the rear seat panel I had a scrap interior that I cut a section out to make the insert I added the chrome/aluminum surround with Evergreen strip

I have one with the Original 1970 box art recreated. I just wish the Police lights were still in the box. That is how I built mine way back when!! I did notice the New grill does not match the Original. There is a detail ring inside the shell on the original that is missing on the re-tool I don't remember if the tail lights had detailed fluting engraved or not in the original. Mine were sanded smooth due to heavy glue

Have they returned the front Brake backing plates to the tooling yet?? They lost them when they added the inserts to this tooling for the Sedan.

Revell Germany New Car and Truck Releases 2012
Edsel-Dan replied to larrygre's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Did they tool that Samba out right All New? Or is it a re-tool of the Original kit from 59, last issued Stock in 67?? Why would they have tooled it ALL new, yet done it in the Late 50's Multi-piece body ? I have one and it is Definitely OLD School tooling!! -
Since all parts start on One tree, that is cut into the separate trees we get in the kit, including the Chrome tree(s) I bet there are an Equal number of Red, Purple & White Chrome trees as there are kits of each make. They could easily have been mixed at the Factory in CHINA After Plating. Remember, once plated, they are not looking at the underlying base plastic, just What trees go in what box. That could have happened Even if they were manufactured here in the US. Plus, if the kits are only Final Boxed here, that would also cause the mixing of parts! Only the Clear windows & lenses are Separate tooling.

I think you can Mail-order from Evergreen I ordered a catalog from them a few years ago. Same with Plastruct. Check their website, it might just give you their Snail-mail address to order that way. You will have to send payment. Checks will delay shipping, so I use Postal Money orders.

Propel Compressed Air
Edsel-Dan replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I first got my airbrush I too used the cans of Propel. Use Warm NOT Hot water. I had the propel come out in Liquid form and Mix into the paint when the water was too warm. Yes it Does increase the preasure that much! I had to strip the paint. Lucky for me it was wet & mostly wiped off. and too it was only an HO scael truck cab body and Not a 1/25 scale build. I think I have a couple cans that I bought when W-M was clearancing all kit stuff. I do have a Powerpal compressor, but need the adapter to use it with my airbrushes. -
Going 59 Caddy, What about an Ambulance?? You would need to modify the P-L Ecto1 or returning AMT 1A to Stock, then modify that. It Would have the Stretcher for sleeping shifts!! Think of the patient area for tools, tires, tanks too. And with the Reds, & Sirens.........

Also, The Dodge van issued for the TV show Rescue 911, is a Straight Parts re-issue of the Cannonball Run kit. Just different molded color & decals I have an unbuilt Cannonball kit molded in Orange. I know many say the grill has always been wrong, but to me the biggest error is the kit has Twin Hinged side doors while the Cannonball Ambulance had a Single sliding side door. That is a Big visual mistake easy to see, but is not that hard to fix. But, all the MPC Dodge van kits had the hinged side doors. I also have a built Original annual 72 done in the Police version

Correct. ALL of the AMT Chevy/GM van kits are the same tooling set! I have a built of the Rescue issue, the Penski set issue, as well as the Original A-Team kit. It Did indeed have the Chevy Chrome tree i the box, just Not chrome plated The Only differences in the current re-issue and the early issues are Open hood, & option of Windowside passenger van or panel side cargo van, windows in the rear doors and the Port holes from the Sunchaser/Kandy/KISS, etc issues of the Mid to late 70s. I wish they would return the Passenger window van option to the kit (And maybe the Open Road Mini Motor Home version too!)!!

I never had one so I do want to get one now. heck, with the Metalic Purple or red one, why not do a 'Promo' typ build? No paint at all!
-
I built the Original issue MANY years ago! I have one of the black "Outcast" issue to use for restoring the FireTruck. And Yes, I Want at least One of the new re-issue I Was curious on how they were going to return the red Rotator cap to the kit. I have the Blueprinter issue with this in it. It said one of the kit companies Owned or commissioned the build, and the other tooled the kit Or was it that though MPC issued it AMT tooled it?? It included the shot of it in front of the Station with the Old Mack CF!

Modelhaus' parts may not fit this modern tool Phantom 'Cameo' shortbox Fleetside. His are from the Original Promo/Annual Longbox. Why did Both AMT & Rev tool these 60 & 64/5 Shortbox Fleetsides, Give us such great detail through-out, and Scrimp on the bed giving us a one-piece Cameo type box instead of a correct Fleetside box?? I used a spare Rev box to correct both. I need to Find the AMT 60 though! Not sure where I hid it.

That is what i said. This Race issue was 'Before' the series

Revell 1956 Chevy Del Ray - Reissue
Edsel-Dan replied to Erik Smith's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
This is not the first time Revell has issued a kit with only Stock tires missing to be a 2n1 kit I have the Lowrider issue of the 59 Impala convertible & 65 Hardtop & Both have all the Stock suspension/rims/hubcaps, but No tires for them. I dug out a set of AMT Square wall Firestone's for the 65 and have used the 2 59's for parts. Yes, I am always looking for a stash of Stock tires, but Can make due with what I have till I can find the exact set I want. -
Yes, The 71 K&K Insurance car!!! I have a couple from way back when! It used the interior tub & chassis from the Annual. it was issued Before the nascar series with the 2 piece adjustable wheelbase chassis. The kit was molded in red * came with Hollow wide tires in back & G70 Custom Widetread's front. Though nascar always had same size tires front & rear

jw78z28, The reason the "Midnite-Cowboy" tow Bed fits the Billy Carter Kit is because they are the Same kit!! This Chevy Pickup has been issued by Revell several times, including as the "Sneaky-Pete" and Midnite!! I just treaded one in the Mach-1 Formula Boat set. I don't care for that Stepside because the frame & suspension are so Flimsy in EVERY issue!! The Axles are so thin they break if Looked at some times. The chassis frame can warp just from handling. You get the idea. Yes, they can be built, and look good, but care must be taken on the frame/suspension assembly I did build an Original Sneaky Pete. But the Midnite Cowboy I bashed with a Sherrif's Bronco The Original issue of the Snap GMC/Chevy tow truck was called Captain Hook, Molded in black, with silver decals I have one I build Way back when New
