  1. Is this a "Silver Anniversary" or Pace Car?? The Pace car is Black/Silver, the Anniversary is Pewter/Silver. A class mate had one a few years ago he showed at local car shows. I don't know if he still has it. And I have both the MPC & Monogram Pace car kits. I built one of the MPC kits Back in 78, and have another unbuilt. The Monogram is a Re-issue. MPC Never did re-issue theirs. I have an unbuilt of the MPC Silver Anniversary kit too. Wish I had this info back when I built my Original MPC Pace car kit Looking very Nice there.
  2. Yes, that is the Same kit. Just different box art(s)[issued twice] and decals
  3. I like these too. I just hope they don't re-issue the Fire truck Pickup version now that you have converted a van into one!! I am going to have to look for a few of these now to try this too!! Would make a nice Fire Rescue van or Ambulance! I would look at a set of Dog-dish rims form an AMT 36 or 48 FORD Coupe! They can be modified to look like MoPar Dog-Dishes!!! The 48 are 1 piece Chrome, the 36 are 2 piece, rim & chrome Dog-Dish. I just wish AMT would re-issue them again!! They are not that easy to find now!! May have to look at resin casting them from the 1 '36 or 2 '48's I have
  4. I have the TJ Hooker version of this kit. As well as the Force 440 2dr Police kit. I still want this version though Personally though, I wish MPC would have put their G70 or even F70 tires in this kit instead of the Nascar ones. The Generic MoPar chassis is not the best, but does fit & have correct wheelbase. How many kits has this chassis been in lately???? MPC could have done a better job on the Aero Lightbar too. The actual one has seems Top & Bottom Not straight through the viewing face!! Tamiya did a beautiful Aerosonic bar. I have 2 of them. That wreck is definitely looking the part!! Not something I could do. My hat is off to your skills!
  5. I know some one with a slightly lower price. I hope to get one. Not really into Military, but that one is 1/32 instead of the regular 1/35 of military kits.
  6. Didn't Gunze Sangyo offer a 250 in their Multi-Media High $$ kits??
  7. What about the engine in Monogram's 41??
  8. If you like customs. I had a Red issue of the "Double Flip" version Sold it off some time ago.
  9. Thanks for the info on the bed, but, it still looks too much like a Phantom Cameo with those inner bed sides molded with the floor. They just look too vertical!! I will have to look at real ones to see how close to a stepside inner box the inside of a Fleetside of this era actually is. Luckily I think my brother still has our dad's oldie!! But, I have not spoken to him in a few years!!
  10. I am curious as I never had the original issue, is the bed a Phantom Cameo type (One piece casting) or made of separate sides, floor, front, etc??MPC's 72 Annual Jeep Commando was the last to include the snow plow.I know most of the Jeepster/Commando's had that, and some Early issues of the CJ.My built Fire Chief Commando has the plow on it
  11. The headlight bar from the "Coming" IMC/Jo-Han 74 Olds Cutlass will work on the 73/74 conversion. I am not sure about anything with tail liaghts that are close. The 'Other' mag did have a concversion article many years ago. The builder modified one of these nascar kits into a stock Laguna. I think he carved the tail lights into the rear panel and detail painted them
  12. As all are nascar, all have the Plates that were bolted/welded over the headlight openings!!
  13. The Wrecker was Originally issued in '79/80 as the "Captain Hook" from Holmes Tow Truck I have a built Original. It was molded in black The lightbar used Transparent decals to tint the Amber(yellow) sections. As for the graphics on the 67-72 Era Chevy/GMC Pickup/Blazer, There use to be a white over Yellow-Orange Suburban here in town with the same ones as in the Boondocker & Model King issues. As for Blue Thunder, I have an unbuilt of the Chopper, but do not remember seeing the Blazer. (On the shelf, or the show!!)
  14. Kit in hand. Rims are the 6 lug/5slot listed. (Chrome) Tires are Formula Dessert Dog PCV's instead of Solid AT's shown on box and instruction sheet. Here is a scan copy of the supplement. Notice that the outer rim is wider than inner. Due to that, the MPC/AMT Formula Dessert Dog PCV's do not fit well. They are tight, and tend to slip in away from the outer face. Let me have daylight, and I will upload picks of the kit.
  15. I have had 2 of the Sherriff's Blazer. At least one had the AMT/MPC Hollow PCV Dessert Dog tires instead of the solid AT Trackers. I need to check my unbuilt to see if it has the AMT/MPC tooled PCV Dessert Dog's too. Box art still show's the AT's, but a separate page notes the tire change.
  16. I actually built that Lenny Pond issue MANY Years ago. Sadly, it has a badly warped body. I did my best to straighten it out, but, I think it is still noticeable. AMT had already dropped it from the line up and sent me a 64 Impala kit instead of a replacement body. You forgot the Bobby Allison #12 kit . I have a built of that too, and 2 of the Monte Carlo.
  17. I used it straight for the Last of Ed Fluck's 70 Impala 4dr kits. I left it over night. Then used it later for paint stripping I strain it every so often when stripping paint, but either leave it in the soaking container, or funnel it back into its original bottle.
  18. The LEE kits are likely the ones also marketed by Heller. My first was a Heller. Rear Axle is cast to the chassis, but the trailing arms/lower control arms are separate!!. The Springs are made from a finer gauge wire. Some trim & badges are decals and Not engraved on the body. The Heller/LEE kit does have both Up Top & Boot Cover for the convertible, but, the top is Polished like Steel!!
  19. I never did the hot water. I drip thinner into the gap between the cap & bottle, let that work a little then the Pliers. Sometimes the thinner works enough, that I don't need the pliers. I try to clean the bottle rim & threads, as well as the cap threads before closing after each use.
  20. For pin holes, depending on size, I drill out & fill with evergreen styrene rod, or sprue. I even make filler with liquid cement, & kit shavings. The problem with using Superglue as a filler, is it will be harder than the surrounding plastic. Extreme care will need to be taken so as not to create a raised spot surrounded by low spots!!
  21. I have one of those, and a Poor Heller Copy! Thought the parts look the same, they are Not! I will dig them out & take comparison pic's. But I may have to wait till Sunday. It is suppose tom Rain all day Saturday! The Heller kit does offer both Up Soft-top & Boot cover where the Arii/Aoshima Convertible/Biarritz kits only had one or the other.
  22. I am not sure this is in the correct area, but need to ask. How do I find my private messages? Why is there not a link on the front page of the forum for this? I have figured out how to send one, but receiving them I am not sure about. Also, On other forums I am a member of, I receive emails notifying me about updates/replies to threads I post in, and messages. Subscribing to threads did not yield to notices either. Many Thanks. Sorry if I have missed messages, but, this is why.
  23. Yea, I believe that. I have an Original 1962 issue 57 Chevy and the rims are shot due to the reaction!! But, I also have AMT & MPC kits that have done that too I too would think BMF or other form of metallic foil would be the best option. Remember, Old Testor's enamil White would Never dry on the tire letters! Paint would more likely speed up the reaction here.
  24. If you are talking about the Tail lights & Lightbars in the Lindberg 97 Crown Vic, they are molded clear & tinted. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol will strip them in only a few hours. Also, Very Early issues of Jo-Han's 68 Fury Police Pursuit had clear molded beacon caps/flasher lenses that were then painted/tinted. They will also strip. I found that out be using Scrubbing Bubbles to clean on once. The red started coming off the light lenses. (At that time ALL Jo-Han tail light lenses were painted/tinted red too) The Blue Detroit/Chicago caps were harder to strip, but I did manage them too. But, yes, if you are talking about parts molded in colors, No way! All AMT & MPC lenses were cast in the transparent color. Jo-Han's later issues on the Ambulance & Police Pursuit Fury too had color cast parts. Revell AG still uses Clear lenses that the builder paints/tints to choice. Most Japanese companies do too.
  25. Or Evergreen/Plastruct tube the same diameter. Cut the drive shaft in 2 near the center, and splice in the tube. Or just lengthen the pins on both ends.
