  1. Yea, I believe that. I have an Original 1962 issue 57 Chevy and the rims are shot due to the reaction!! But, I also have AMT & MPC kits that have done that too I too would think BMF or other form of metallic foil would be the best option. Remember, Old Testor's enamil White would Never dry on the tire letters! Paint would more likely speed up the reaction here.
  2. If you are talking about the Tail lights & Lightbars in the Lindberg 97 Crown Vic, they are molded clear & tinted. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol will strip them in only a few hours. Also, Very Early issues of Jo-Han's 68 Fury Police Pursuit had clear molded beacon caps/flasher lenses that were then painted/tinted. They will also strip. I found that out be using Scrubbing Bubbles to clean on once. The red started coming off the light lenses. (At that time ALL Jo-Han tail light lenses were painted/tinted red too) The Blue Detroit/Chicago caps were harder to strip, but I did manage them too. But, yes, if you are talking about parts molded in colors, No way! All AMT & MPC lenses were cast in the transparent color. Jo-Han's later issues on the Ambulance & Police Pursuit Fury too had color cast parts. Revell AG still uses Clear lenses that the builder paints/tints to choice. Most Japanese companies do too.
  3. Or Evergreen/Plastruct tube the same diameter. Cut the drive shaft in 2 near the center, and splice in the tube. Or just lengthen the pins on both ends.
  4. You are right about the Suburban being on the Pickup chassis, but I believe by that time were only availabe on the Longbox chassis The modern tool AMT 60 & Revell 64 Fleetsides are Shortbox versions, And technically a Cameo with the box molded as a single piece
  5. I want one. But......... Only if Hobby Lobby gets them & I find a 40% or 50+% off Coupon!!!!!
  6. So, How many times Have you watched the movies?? How about reading the books?? Up to 6-10 times each yet??
  7. But, that "Dr Krook's" wasn't a Tom Daniels design was it?? That is an Old Revell tooling and Not a Monogram. Tom did his work at Monogram before & During the Mattel (Hot Wheels) days. (Early 70's.--Way before the Merger with Revell in the mid-late 80's. At least as far as I remember)
  8. I have an original issue from the Kay-Bee toy store 3 car kit and it shows removing all of the trim neccessary to change from Sedan to hardtop. I swapped out the interior for one of the re-issue that first included those decals. It too was molded in white though it shows a Blue built with those odd graphics in place. I like that Turquiouse one. I would like to know where to find the Tempest/Le Mans hubcaps that the original AMT kit had I have a few of the Polar Lights 64 and they have the same GTO rim. Almost the same size too Too close to 1/24 scale or 16 inch diameter for a 1/25 scale build. It should have 14's standard, as I don't think 15's were used that often on Full size car back then.
  9. But, The Bus only shows in One. Azkaban. I have all but 7 pt1 on DVD myself And all but 6 in Book form I do have all 7 in pdf form though.
  10. One question on the "Knight-Bus" Where are you planing to get the Arm Chairs, Beds, Chandeliers, etc??? Or were you just planning on making the outside Look correct??
  11. I doubt you will ever see the 68-70 MoPar's with Both Pro-Street & Stock options in the same box as they require separate chassis pans. Rememberm the Pro-Street has tubbed rear wheel wheels for those monstrosities they call tires. Not that they can't, but they would have to use a larger box for it to fit. They can and ocassionally do include both engine options, but not both chassis' I have the retro-Deluxe type box art re-issue of the 70. I do wish the Police parts were still there!! I want to say when they finally offered the 69 GTX hardtop in Stock, they may have included 2 engines too. I need to dig that one out and look at it again.
  12. Correct, The Penski Team set was an AMT kit with the Long box Chevy van. I have a parts lot kit as well as a mostly built Van left from my Original set. Sadly I traded the trailer way back when!! Here is the box top of the Penski set.
  13. As I understand, The rear fenders are too wide for stock too. A result of all those Hot-Rod style versions issued during the 70's & 80's I have one of the Stock Re-issues. Not sure when I will get to it, but hope to some day!
  14. The Round parts Under the circled Pins are where those Pins mount to hold the rim/tire. (Between the Spindle [yellow] & Plastic axle rod [pink]). The Round part/Brake drum-disc is glued to the Spindle. You can glue it almost anywhere up or down the side of the spindle. There are slots for square/straight mounting on the drum/disc. I can Just make them out. They are in-line with the sprue that are connected to. You are looking at the Side/Edge of the Spindle in that pic. the 'Z' tab is the tie-rod location. I have built a few of these, so know them well.
  15. I will have to check that out. I have a couple of the 73-4 Annual Dusters, plug one or 2 of the Early/original issue of the 'Convoy Chaser' Although I did get a Volare` last year, I can't confirm that part. I don't think I got the chassis. I think I will use a newer tool 71 Duster kit for that.
  16. Not really. Didn't MPC use that Same Chassis on ALL their 68-78 Mopar ?? I have several that seem to have that same chassis. The orignal 70 'Bee, Duke's 69 Charger, 77 Monaco, 78 Force 440 dr Monaco, TJ Hooker 78 4dr Monaco, 71 Road Runner & 74 GTX/Road Runners to name a few. In fact, wasn't that one complaint on the earlier re-issue of the 74 GTX chassis not fitting well due to it coming out of the 4dr Monaco, as well as the Dash too??
  17. I had always wonders at the Scale of that Chieftan. I Have one I bought New at the K-Mart on Airport Rd in Moon Twp, Pa.!! Up the Hill from Coraopolis!!!
  18. Wasn't the Camper in the 65 Drag-Camino first offered in the Original or Early 59 El Camino?? I have seen pictures of the 59 box showing it. I have an original that was 'Painted' with a Marker!! Also, the topper from the 65 was in many issues. I got one in the Gear Hustler issue I only call those Bed caps. I believe that is what the 77-later Ford had, a cap not a camper. AMT offered the After-market type Fiberglass topper/camper in the Hunter Special re-issue of their 63 F-100 and in the 69 Chevy C-10 Annual I have one I got with a 69. it had "Clyde's Custom Campers" decals. AMT also offered a Cap in the 89+ SnapFast Clubcab Chevy Standard Not Dually!! (Green) Revell offered a Cap in one version of the J-10 Honcho Jeep pickup too I need to finish that one for my scale Fire Department. I have drawings/plans for a recent "Westwood/Wildwood" single door trailer, and can do a set for a Dual door unit as friends have them. I have one of those Normatt Winnebego's Bought it at a K-Mart in Moon, Pa.!! Built it back then too!! Chose it over the "Graveyard Ghoul Duo" Interior is a tray like piece with everything only simulated I can dig mine out & take pictures (I ordered the Motorizing kit later!) I need to make copies of the set I drew, but they are 18x12 !! I know I completed a 1/32 scale set. I would like to duplicate them in 1/25-1/24.
  19. Though Crude, especially for the scale, it is better than Some of the early/mid 80's AMT nascar kits Remember the Curbside series?? They started with 4 kits 2 Chevy, Waltrip's Pepsi 11 & Cale Yarlborough's 28 Hardee's And 2 Pontiacs, Richard's 43 & Kyle's 7-Eleven 7. Only the front clips were different between the Chevy & Pontiac. The body was Monte Carlo! Decals were the only Good parts of the kits. Though They Did come with a Driver figure!! Ford Thunderbirds were added shortly after the 2 GM makes and did have their own body #21 Woods Brother's Buddy Baker, & Bud Moore's 15 Word was they were to be toys, then became kits. They are basically Snap kits for kids to play with. I would love to get the decals from the Kyle Petty 7 as that was the only year the 7-Eleven car wore correct Green/Orange/red colors. They became Blue/red on the T-Bird he drove the next year. I have 2 of those kits and can dig them out to take pictures of if anyone is interested. The Interior Folded up from ONE Piece!!!!!
  20. The Ollie's near me has them for $8.oo They also had the Auburn last time I was in.
  21. I already did some modifying of the 68 Runner Chassis & 67 interior tub so they would fit together. just another project I need to dig back out & get to work on!!!!
  22. I have one. It will take work. It is a multi-piece body that assembles around the chassis/interior. Not sure how you can assemble it separately to paint it nicely. The grill also looks a little better from the Inside. I want to build mine as the 46 Indy Pace car!
  23. I have an old MPC 67 Charger undergoing restoration that I planned to use the 68 R-R/69 GTX chassis under I hope to be able to built the re-issue 70 Coronet Super Bee, and complete the resto of the original Annual to have a side-by-side comparison.
  24. For all my early 70's MPC annuals, I never had a Challenger!! Wish I could get a 71!! Or at least the parts to convert one of the AMT combination convertible/hardtops into one!!
  25. recent issues of AMT's 70 come with the Twin-snorkle hood too! It was originally in the Dixie-Challenger version with the center cut out for the blower. They made it Stock now. No Shaker Scoop though. I have enough of the older kits With that though
