Pictures from the iHobby showed the AMT kit. I am surprissed even Monogram/Revell got the grill/Head light area wrong on the 59 Caddy!! The chrome should only go Half as far back as it does around the head lights. They Should have cast the headlight pods as separate pieces!! I see you corrected that!! Nice build going there! i will Definitely be getting more of this kit!! Glad to see it back I though that AMT had announced it back when P-L announced their's!!

Forgot a little, Plus, had 6 pic's linked, and got a pop-up saying too many. The Chrome-Reverse rims in 1A should be painted white with Only Chrome 'Baby'-Moons The box showed BF Goodrich T/A radials on the car, but we got hollow Goodyear's. The original version had a Blue lens in the spotlight whlie it is clear in the updated 1A. Also, The original has both a mirror on the spot light, and a standard mirror on the door, while 1A only has the mirror on the Spotlight. he Spotlight mounts Down through the top of the fender, Not on the A Pillar as in Both kits The Original Ecto has 2 Large Whip antennas right front & Left rear, AND a standard AM radio antenna on the right front fender (See pic's above for both details) Here is a front shot; Here is the 1A rear bumper; Both of these show the corrected License plate, the front shows the Yellow rotator closer to that seen in the second film. I made this from a yellow Light-Bright Peg and Styrene bits. Here are the sign-boards too; The AMT kit only gives yo 2 message boards, but I made more out of .o6 sheet & .o1x.o2 strip they only gave youa Red 'Ghostbusters' & a green "WE'RE BACK", while there were Many More seen and the We're back actually showed as 2 colors flashing alternately red We're/green Back--green We're/red Back I made the Masters for the messages from Blank sections from a Revell 'Goodyear' Blimp kit I extended a section to the required length (read number of spots/elements) and cut it to 7 rows in height I then scaled it down on an Office copier.(This Was before PC's became so cheap, plus, I only needed to copy black.white! I made a few i whithe blanks, then copied more to Flurescent Red & green paper to simulate the red & green lights of the sign boards. All I had to do them was black-out the unused spots to spell out the messages. (And Yes, I did mess up a Lot!!) The sign-plates are 2-sided, and I made 2 of each mesasge!!

I back-dated the AMT kit into a First movie version BEFORE Polar-Lights came out with their snap kit of the car Here are comparison pictures. Left side; Right side: Be aware, I added the Messages myself, replacing the decals given for them. I will be digging out the masters to make more. Both versions of the car have the XL Lightbar & 4 "Spot/Flasher" lights on the roof In the Original they are Blue & Flash, in the Second, they are green & Steady Burn. The carrier is extended and now has the Whelan "Edge" bar above the front XL Lightbar. It is a Chrome piece, you will have to detail paint it. Same with the XL's, They are a Chrome base & Clear cap. (Surprisingly, P-L cast their XL's that way too, they should be Blue with a Chrome center section) The updated 1A had the Dish in place of the twin tube/Spear antenna, The one box painted green on 1A is Not there on the Original, but P-L cast it there, WITH the Red Light molded in place too!! For accuracy, Cut that box off & cover the hole with sheet plastic. P-L also casts the flashers/Strobes on the grill, while the AMT kit has separate Clear parts. Though there was only One double size Yellow rotator on the lower left side of the grill/bumper. The small canister above the Dish (Left rear corner of the carrier) is Not in the AMT kit, but should be. Polar-Lights casts the 2 tanks for the Left side of the carrier as separate parts, while they are molded with the piece in the AMT kit. AMT include's a Clear Strobe light for the Carrier, but Neither do the Siren correctly The Polar Lights kit is also missing a Mars 888/Gyra-type light. The AMT kit has a Tread-plate Step bumpler, the P-L kit an Era Correct Cadillac rear bumper. But, Only the AMT kit has the clear-red Bullit tail lights. They are cast on the rear bumper of the P-L kit The P-L kit comes with Heavy promo type metal axles, And, the rear axle is about 3 scale inches too far back in the wheel well. Move it forward about the thickness of the metal axle. AMT got the License plate incorrect. In one scene near the end of the movie, they look diredtly at it, and 'Liberty' is Between the Ecto & 1A, while AMT printed it to one side. If I have left anything out, let me know, and I will try to add to what I remember Also, Should I show all the Signs I made for the build??

The island my grand parents lived on in the Ohio River outside of Pittsburgh had a Ford C pumper. it was a canopy cab with a bench in the back. The canopy did not follow the C's belt line though, it dropped straight down instead of widening. I started a build, but this was WAY back. even before I did the rough drawings. I got a NAPA issue of the Box van. I need to dig that out & get back to it. I made some ROUGH drawings of her last time I was up there. it was sitting in a Scrap yard. Wish I had the $$ at the time,I would have bought it. I believe it was a Young, not an ALF though. It had a Windshield above the rear cross bar for tail board riders. Not allowed Now though!!

I've had a Lot of 1/32 truck kits. I traded one of those Ertl Transtar COE's. (Wish I still had it now!!) I took a box lot of parts cabs to use for many of my Fire truck builds. I probably have 15-20 of the Monogram Mack CF Pumper kit alone!! For those wanting to Watch "Movin' On" again, check your cable line up for a channel advertising itself as "RETRO TV" Movin' On is on. Rehobeth, Del's WRDE 9 is RETRO & show's Movin' ON at 2 PM every weekday!!! I do not see a "RETRO TV channel listed on DirecTV, but do not know abouot Dish Network. I too built one of the AMT kits WAY back when I Lost a second mostly complete, unbuilt in a trade, that yielded NOTHING to me. some clown named Glenn in Canada. I would love to see them re-issue this kit again. Maybe with all the Hollywood licensed kit they offer now they might.

Sorry to hit this so long after it has ended, but, I only joined a few weeks ago. I don't know about different Dodges used as Squad 51, but do remember seeing as many a 2 Squads together once or twice. 51 & 110 (Gary Crosby) respond to an airplane crash in the mountains up in a tree & are chopper lifted to the scene is one such incidient. Also, remember, one was destroyed in the first Movie 'Charter 880' I do remember seeing the OLDER Squad with the Twinsonic lightbar a few times. In the added footage remembering the start of the program, they say Johnny worked at Station 8, when it was 10!! Squad 10 was an Earlier Dodge, and had different tail lights than did Squad 51. I too remember the Cross country tour of the Squad, but only remember4 Randy as part of that. He was on the Baltimore news during it. I remember them showing him drive away Lights flashing & siren blowing too! I Thought they were leaving the Squad in the Smithsonian. That Was where the tour ended. I guess they only donated the equipment from the compartments, or copies, and not the Squad itself.

I wish some one would re-issue those Yodel "Big American's" again. I see them once in a while on evilbay, and the prices are ridiculous! I have one of the original issue LAPD kits. I buuilt 2 of the Force 440, and one TJ Hooker. I never was able to get the Goon/Gothom kit. But then, The used AMC's & Ford Fairmont's in that movie and Not MoPars!

MPC returned to the Promo market with the 88 Silverado, Vette, and Camaros. I asked about them at my local dealer at the time, they said I could get them, but would have to Buy a MASTER Case. ie 144 of ONE Promo, posibly in only One of the 2 or so colors offered Even at the then dealer cost of $10.oo each, that would have cost me $1440.oo Plus sales tax!!! Each dealer sold them or did not depending on their market. I know Cravelli? Chevrolet on McKees Rocks Pa, out side of Downtown Pittsburgh Did have them. I saw the 50 Chevy Pick up there in both cream & Blue. They sold a lot of nascar collectibles too. All this was right out in the showroom Also, Cravelli is in a Strip mall with Regular retail stores including a Bog-Lots, so that may have been another factor They are also the ONLY car dealer I have ever seen located in a Shopping mall with regular retail businesses too!

Others I know of are the 68? Park Lane 4dr sedan of Steve Magarrett Hawaii Five-O Columbo's car??, The Buick from Brodrick Croford's Highway Patrol, and I believe on of the Mayberry Fords too. They were done like the Rockford Firebird., ie, ij the style of the current box art at the time they would have been produced, and in Brands acording to who produced the kit closest to the model depicted. The ADAM-12 box was an MPC box, I believe the FIVE-O Merc was AMT, and the Buick might have been PMC or Ideal, it was not a Big brand name like AMT or Revell! As far as I know, this crafter no longer offers these 'Phantom" kit boxes. The other magazine ran a little article about them a few years ago. Some have been listed on evilbay, but, I am not sure how long ago the last one was on.

I forgot to add this. The ONLY Non-stock parts in the Skip's kit were the Olds Fiesta caps that replaced the Stock Ford caps. No skirts, no spotlights, nothing. Revell issued this version twice, the second in the SSP Limited release. Revell-Of-Germany returned the Stock 59 Ford Hubcaps, & I think they even redid the metal axles on the Original & 74/5 Yellow re-issue. Like I said, I have TOO many of them to not know what is in every issue Except the current Rev USA SSP box.

I Like that Old Skyliner. And Yes, as stated, Revell with the Skip's issue has incorrexctly called this a Galaxie even though the Fairlane 500 script is Still present on the rear quarter panels. The reason Ford Left the Fairlane 500 on the deck of the Galaixe is the first 0 in 500 was the Key slot for the trunk lid. I know, I almost Bought a Galaxie 4dr sedan! I have Several of these, including 2 Original's, 4 of the Yellow 74/5 issue, ?? of the Pink/Coral (Revell actually states it is Molded in Coral on the box) Skip's issue & one of the RoG issue in a similar green to the Originals. I do want a few of the New SSP issues in White.. And Yes, The parts Do fit the PMC Toy issue Ranchero & Country Sedan. Here is a Skip's Skyliner converted into a 2dr Sedan. It will have Era correct Baltimore Police Decals Yes I will change the script to Custom! Here is the First one I bought in 74/5. I am in the middle of restoring it. I bought this one built. I did repaint the white, and added the narrow white-stripes to the US Royal Master tires. I also added working steering Here is the First Skips issue I bought. I am going ALL out on this one. Continental spare carrier (Scratch build based on AMT Original), Opening doors, etc!! This one will be painted as close as possible to Sunset Coral! Here is a good shot of most of my 1959 Ford lot!! The 2tone Pink & White Wagon in the Bottom Left is a Deluxe Promo. Interior, windows, Even Hubcaps in the tires Just some minor warping The turquious one is a Toy issue. Styrene No warping!! In the Original/early issues you did not have to cut out the sides. You got 4 inserts, 2 Window sides, And 2 cargo/panel sides. And Yes, I wish the Open hood was still there too. I have an unbuilt Penski set Van, Trailer, & Matador Stock car with those side inserts. Only thing is, It does not have the Van body! Otherwise, it Is complete. I will dig it out & take some pic's of those side inserts to post Maybe with them repairing the Gremlin tooling to Stock, we can eventually get some of the other options on this old Chevy van. I would LOVE the Open Road Mini-Motor Home parts (roof extension & interior!

I thought kits that Model King had re-issued, could not be re-issued by the Parent company yet? Does this mean we may be getting the 70 Bonneville, 72 Blazer or even 77/9 F-250 back some time soon? I too am happy to see that late 70's-early 80's Ford van back out. I just wish they could find to tooling for all the lost parts in that Early Chevy van. I want the Bench seats, Side window inserts (too bad the body is now permanently a cargo van) Rescue, Paddy wagon & even Open Raod Mini-Motor home parts back!

Building one straight, converting one into a convertible, another I have kit-bashed with a Revell 57 Ranchero to make a Phantom Edsel Ranchero, another has donated it's chassis & engine to a Resin Villager (was offered as a Bermuda when I bought it) I even have a project using 2 to "Stretch" a longer build out of. Yes, I need to get pictures of them added to my Photobucket 'Projects" folder I have an Original AMT 59 Annual Convertible awaiting Final color, and TWO 59 Villagers In-Progress. I have ONE Built, a Lincoln Mint 69 Judge. I have several more in Progress. Here are 2 of my 65's I added the 65 Malibu wagon roof to this for a Tempest/Le Mans Safari, and YES it Will have GTO Badges!! The white wedge is Styrene used to bring the rear quarter line Up to match the wagon side window. Tail lights were filled down from Monogram 59 Impala pieces, The tail gate trim piece is from the GTO . If I can get good pictures, I plan on doing the 64, 66& up GTO's into Wagons too. This one is an unmolested body. I might leave it the molded Yellow. I Love those Blue Windows I have Revell's 66, & MPC/AMT's 67 & 72, and Monogram's 68 to start on.

The Turbine kit here is the Snap kit. aka, Curbside, No engine. It is the same as the last issue "E-Z Build" The Full glue kit has not been available since Seville took over Jo-Han

Monogram Never issued a kit of Richard's Road Runner. Yes the second issue of this kit had decals to "Simulate" Richard's on track Superbird, but this kit has always, & Only built a Stock 'Bird. I have that kit sealed, and an original issue started. Yes the Bird is based on the Original GTX, & the Road Runner came third. I have the GTX started too (Bright Green Oringal issue) and an open Runner. I have not started that one though Jo-Han's kit could be built as Richard's Bird or a Stock ride, but did not include the vinyl top. I think the depressions in the nose are wrong on the Jo-Han kit too. The nose was for Aerodynamics and that would have added drag. I believe Jo-Han did that to ease in painting the black-out area around the head light doors. Richard took a 68 Road Runner to Daytona with a Vinyl top. To hide tampering, or test the use of it is anyone's guess. It Pealed during the race & had to be taped I think some one even said it was to help keep the inside cooler, but I think they would have gone with a WHITE top for that instead of the Black one they had.

I was in mine last week. They have the Lindberg Charger Super Bee I think (Yellow on the box) 97 Crown Vic police in Generic, CHP & Illinios versions, Hawk Washington Mint Kits of the 70 Torino & Cuda, Ready Built's of the 49 Mercury Convertible, and others. They added Testor's Diecast kits this time, and added More Weird-Oh's too. I saw the Charger Police Prototype, 68 Chevelle, a 70's Mustang, & Prototype Mustang (Like the Current 1:1) The one thing I don't like, The 1/32 kits are the same $7.99 as most 1/25 kits! Especially when the Modern Prototype 'Stang is only $3.99 for a 1/25 Diecast, and another 1/25 Diecast kit was only $4.99.

Especially since the Engine & rolling chassis are Directly from the 68 Road Runner/69 GTX. I have both the recent Nostalgia box art 70 Super Bee, & an Original Annual. Too bad the Police &street machine options are not in the Retro-Re-issue. I notice a difference in the grill too.

I definitely will get Several (Cases if posible) of the Ecto-1A!!. I am Curious, Which color will the Meyer's Manx be cast in? White, Translucent/transparent Purple, Or Transparent/translucent red? And, Will this issue of the AmTronic include the Cardboard Base for the Rails? The Millenium issue I have doesn't, so the rails can not be assembled.

I seriously Doubt AMT will return the Passenger Seats & window side inserts to the Chevy van kit. They long ago altered the Body tool by making the Cargo panels a part of the body and no longer separate pieces. They also filled in the rear door windows, which in most states is Illegal! I Would LOVE for them to replace ALL the old options (Passenger van, Fire/Rescue, Police, Ambulance, Open Road Mini-Motor Home, etc, But I don't think they will.

The old Revell 57 Ranchero is a Butchered Country Squire, That is why it was never re-issued, and goes so high in auctions. If you look at the interior panels, as well as the body sides, you can see were they only filed down the engraving to produce the Squire's rear doors. For accuracy, you should start with an AMT 57 Fairlane 500, and graft the Chopped top Ranchero bed to that. It will give you the correct door size. You can do the same with the upcoming Revell Custom/Base level 57 Ford. The wheelbase will be closer to correct versus AMT's 500 too. I have both a built & unbuilt, of the Stock height roof Ranchero kits. I replaced the 59 grill surround/bar grill with AMT 57 grill, splash pan, & front bumper. Tires are AMT hollow Firestones (formerly 500's) from the 'Count-Down series, & hubcaps from the AMT 500 too My Phantom 58 Edsel Ranchero has the Correct door size. I grafted the bed from a Chopped roof kit to the Modern tool Pacer, making the cut to the Pacer right along the rear door line.
