HOLLYWOOD!!! Ecto-1 back-dated from the AMT/Ertl 1A (This was started when the Kit was New Years before the P-L kit!!) 1A from the Original kit I cut the glass apart into 4 pieces to make tinting easier. But the Testor's And ?? brand tints did not play nice. One side Is Testor's Clear blank spray, the rear door & other side are 2 layers of self-adhesive tinting film (I found a Large roll) Last Caddy Pic I need to restore this one, but, I can not find Original decals. None of the later versions match my set!!

Revell/Monogram "Street Fighter" Questions.
Edsel-Dan replied to Joe Handley's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Question, Is this a Complete re-tooling Back to Original Spec's or just the major parts?? I mean, Are the headlights Oval Reds again, and are the rims 5 slot?? My Original has Red Oval lenses. ALL clear was Red (That is why all modified re-issues (Quicksilver, Bad Actor, StreeFighter2) have a clear tail light piece!! (Yes I have all of them !!) Quicksilver kept the large Sunroof over the cargo area, but changed the headlights to Quads. Bad Actor came White and changed the heardlights to larger diameter singles, as well as filling in the large sunroof and replacing it with the smaller one over the seats. Streetfighter2 just returned the build to Orange (don't remember if it is molded that way been a while since I looked at it, and have not even started it) I need to dig the 3 built out & take some pic's I may have to restore one or 2 too! -
I have one of the "Route 66" Diecast kit. I would have to dig for it though. All I have done to it, is paint the white walls on the tires
-
That will be great to see. I have the 75 re-issue Ranchero with Stock height roof, and yes it did come from the Squire. Look at the body side pieces as well as the interior panels and you can see where the tooling was ground down to remove the 4dr lines. I had one of the black chopped top issues and had planned to use it to make a Ford wagon with a resin roof I had, but decided after gettingg th e99 tool AMT 58 Edsel Pacer to make a Phantom Edsel Ranchero. At least that one will have the correct doors. I want to look at the Custom for Police cars too! Both 2dr sedan & 4dr.

Make flat tyres ?
Edsel-Dan replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Best use a Hollow tire for that plan. A Solid will Burn before you get it warm enough to 'Deflate' that way. Also, Insert front & rear rim pieces or a long tube of correct diameter to hold the center round when Deflating, and be able to hold the tire -
Stripping paint from a resin?
Edsel-Dan replied to disabled modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Most resin casters say to soak the parts in "Wesley's Bleche White" tire cleaner to remove mold release, so that is also a good option for paint stripping. -
This kit is the AMT 72 GMC Shortbox Stepside. It is likely Gone for good as this may be the kit that was converted into the Longbox stepside we have been getting recently AMT & MPC both offered the Longbox Fleetside from 67 to 72 as Annuals. Both offered the Tow truck option through out the era, though AMT only in the Eariler kits 67-69. MPC offered it all the way to the 72 Annual which was my first kit of this Pickup. MPC also offered the Fire truck option as well as the Racer's Wedge car hauler & Open Road Mini-Motor home that AMT did not have. MPC converted their kit into the Longbox Stepside in 74, but took out the Stock wheels/tires in favor of Nascar tires & custom rims. There are 3 versions of that Longbox stepside that I know of (I have 2 of them) "Chevy Step-Side Pickup w/ Yamaha Trail bike" 'Heavy Pedal' in Black & the one I want 'Rolling Thunder' molded in Blue The first issue was molded in white and showed a Gold painted truck with "Lace-filigree" red panel boarder decals. The Heavy Pedal shows a tube type grill & stock front bumper, but has a deep set Stock grill, and Custom Heavy duty bumper. The Rolling Thunder has the tube type grill. All 3 have the same "Spyder"-type rims, R-T having larger diameter Dessert-Dog tires. Ertl did re-issue the Shortbox GMC step-side once. This one at least could be built stock out of the box.

Those are MPC's 80's annual's tires, But be careful on which kit you take them from. The ones in the 69 Cuda are likely the same, But I bet the ones in the Shelby are the Smaller 13 inch rim tires. I know, I have the 2.2 Charger version of the MPC Shelby/Omni, as well as a few of the other MPC annuals of the 80's that had the BFG T/A's ie 82 Camaro Indy Pace car (Yea That one Should have Goodyears or Firestones!) 86 Corvette (Also an Indy Pace car !) I beleive the 3 kit Pace car set's 80 Turbo Firebird (Trans Am) has them too. This is not a movie I would watch, but do like the car.

I believe you would use "International Reply Coupons" with a return addressed envelope

Revell AG To Release A 1939 Opel Admiral
Edsel-Dan replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I like this too. It might not look too small with my 1/32 scale builds. Due to Quantity, I tend to stay at 1/24-1/25 or Smaller, though I do have a few of MPC's 1/20 scale Ford Econoline I too look to see what military can be converted to Civilian use. Like some trucks can be converted to Fire, or a Jeep made into a Small town Sherriff/Police!! -
I know for a Fact that the 72 Impala did NOT have the trailer It Did have the Mild/Wild parts. as well as being one of the Professional Painted body kits. I still have it, the kit was Molded in Blue, and the body overspayed with Clear metallic for a metallic Blue finish The 73 Did get the trailer returned, and was also one of the Painted kits, this one Molded in Brown, with a Gold metaillic finish to the body. I need parts for both to restore them The 73 is built as a 4x4, has the 72's interior & rear bumper/tail lights! The 72 needs a new hood & grill I also had the 70 Impala Convertible from MPC. the "VAMPIRE Machine" complete in Glow-In-The-Dark plastic. I Did add the Spider-web hubcaps (Over top of the Stock caps no lees) and the large Bat to the hood. I Wish I could find it in my attic!! That one Did Not have the trailer either!! Also, I read somewhere that the engine/chassis/etc are all straight from the 68-69-70 so are a 454 which was not available in the latter cars due to the gas crisis of the day!

Make a functional tie rod on the Hudson?
Edsel-Dan replied to Jon Cole's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am planning on doing this with My Hudson. I will first drill through Each of the 4 connection locations with a Micro-bit, then carefully cut the 2 tie-rods, center connector, & spindle links apart into the 5 pieces. will also dill Into the spindle part and spindle proper to add re-inforcement to that joint. I have Doll house nails about 3/16-1/4 inch long that will be perfect for the pins to allow pivoting. I think the Hardest part will be closing & rounding the mounting points for the spindle on the upper & lower A arms. They only have square/rectangular slots, not round holes. I have done this on Many kits with separate spindles, as well as a few without Try it on a 1 piece front axle from a 1/32 truck kit!! -
Will the Jo-Han 70 Grill fit the Rev 72 body?? I want to do a 70 Old 442/W30 convertible, but Do Not feel like modifying the Jo-Han coupe body to do it. Are the head light buckets suppose to be separate from the grill on the 70 like they are on the 71/2?? If so, I could even use the 72's lights with the grill of the 70! if this is a good idea, all i will need are good pictures of, or a place to get a 70 442/Cutlass convertible interior. Side panels, seats, etc.

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Edsel-Dan replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am going to have to try Pine Sol & Dawn. I started with brake Fluid as my first paint striper, til it went from 50-75 Cents/bottle to over $2.oo!! (Plus, I have a Monogra, 1/32 scale 65 GTO I painted with Testor's 03 red and a Keaton Batmobile in flat black primer that Still have not stripped after soaking for 15+ YEARS!!!!) Next I found a Generic version of Fantastik called Fabulous. I did good on most, then I lost that when the 'Roses' I bought it at closed. I Have seen Fabulous at Dollar Tree but it has Bleach or other additives in it that I do not know what effect they will have on the stripping power or the plastic Currently, I am using Wesley's Bleche White. So far, I have One bad reaction to it, and a few Weak//No effect. The Bad reaction was a 61 Pontiac Bonnevile Promo convertible that had been brush painted red & blue. The Wesley's Softened the plastic terribly! The right side of the body rubberized, and will NOT straighten no matter what I do, and the Boot cover shrunk so mutch, it MIGHT fir a 1/43 scale car!! as for Weak to No effect, I have a 61/2 Buick Special wagon painted brown that it will not touch, a similar age Chevy Pickup also in a brown, and it would not touch the black of the rocker panels, the clear red of the tail lights & Light bars, or the Clear blue of the light bars of Lindberg's 97 Ford Crown Vic's. Friends at the Scale Firehouse told me to try 90-91% Isopropol Alcohol, and that works in only 3-4 Hours!! I like that I don't need glove to work with the Alcohol, I am thinking the same is true for both the Dawn & Pine Sol. -
I wish I had a better place to work I have a LOT that would fit here. I have built all 3 of AMT's ALF 1000's, Pumper, Ladder & Snorkle. a few parts lots as well. I have one of the Trumpeter ALF, a built Aurora ALF 900, as well as at least 2 complete unbuilt, and a few PArts lots too 2 of the Original Lindberg ALF open cab, plus 3-4 parts lots 4 of the Lindberg Ohio State 97 Ford Crown-Vic, Generic, CHP & Ilinios issues N.C & Generic 08 Charger, 4-5 parts lots of the 70 Ford Interceptor. other Built's include a TJ Hooker Monaco, Chicago, NYPD Green, San Francisco & Detriot Tactical/DARE 68 Fury, but 2-3 unbuilt, plus additional parts lots Jo-Han 66 Cadillac Ambulance, plus one I added a High-Top to (and opened the doors!--Just have to find it) Yodel LAPD 78 Monaco/Fury. I need to replece the Monaco grill with a Fury grill. I already have the CAN lights from a Jo-Han MPC Super Snap 40 Ford Fire Chief (2), doing one a a Stock Chief, may leave #2 as hot-rod kit version 49 Mercury Police, Willys Paddy Wagon & 75 Balzer Emergency/Rescue unit. 1 Built, 1 re-issue to build I added the stretcher from AMT's Chevy Van Fire-Rescue issue in place of the back seat. AMT's 70 IMpala with Light-rack from Monogram Cop-Out funny car Built one of those too. Have MANY sets of the light-racks/rotators/sirens/flashers for that kit too And 4-5 of the revell Snap Police Caprice, and 2-3 of the Fire Chief/Taxi issue too SEVERAL Monogram/Revell 1/32 scale Mack CF pumper kits. Converting one into an Aerialscope, another into a Heavy Rescue. Bashed another with the Monogram Mack R cab. also in 1/32 I have a Diecast Dodge van ambulance, the Revell Chevy Van in SWAT & Ambulance versions The Revell Nova SWAT, MPC Chevy Stepside pickup Trail Patrol. Made a Rescue Squad like from Emergency out of one. MPC Dodge Monaco Police made into a Fire Chief, MPC Cop-Rod 32 Ford Sedan Delivery converting back to Stock Paddy Wagon My favorite is a Scratch-built ALF Pioneer Snorkle. I think I will use the interior parts from an Aurora 900 for this. The Jump seats are from a Monogram Mack CF as are the Outer section of the front fenders. I also have Several Leetown/Alloy Forms, Iver's Engineering & NJ International Diecast 1/87 (HO) scale Fire apparatus kits Here is the Fire department folder in my Photobucket; http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r229/EdselDan/Fire%20Department/ I don't know, Do you think I have a Few Emergency services vehicles??

Edsel-Dan replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

Please correct the 72's grill. AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
Edsel-Dan replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
According to some reports I have seen (Many Years ago) there was a Step Bumper similar to the one on the 1A available for 1960 Ambulances, but not 1959's. The car had a Normal rear bumper in the first movie, so the Polar-lights kit has that. It's just that the Bullitt tail lights are cast in place on the bumper. AMT's 1A kit does have the clear red bullitts. -
AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
Edsel-Dan replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes. The AMT kit is also a Curbside. I believe P-L used it to master theirs. I am surprised I have not seen anyone bash one with a Rev/Mono Eldorado for an Engine & detailed chassis I may do that myself. I Was going to use the Monogram kit's rear bumper on my back-dated build, but think I will modify a P-L one instead
