Very KOOL!!! Did the decals come with kit? She is my favorite Superhero. I'll take a bad girl over a good girl any time.

I am the best at holding a ladder, running for parts, grab a tool and of course the beer run. I can't cut a straight line with a hand saw, forget trying to hammer a nail without bending it. So, I am no DIY person, and I am at the mercy of the car dealer. But I can build a great model car. One day paper pushers will rule the world. LOL Mike

With today's car if they won't start, they have to be towed to a repair shop. I watch and attend Mecum Auctions. Used European luxury cars are affordable for $20,000 you get a very nice car. An inspection can run into the thousands. Brake job, new belts, alignment, and that rattling sound when you turn a corner. Point is: A used foreign car may seem like a bargain until it needs repairs Mike

Any coin or stamp collectors out there
Mike 1017 replied to Mike 1017's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
You are right. Keep all of the letters. Rummaging around the letters. There are some that my grandmother wrote to my dad. A few from her to my uncle George. Kool stuff ! Mike -
My dad passed about 12 years ago. He had an In-Law apartment in my brother's house. My brother sold his house last month and found my dad's stash of 3 WW2 Amo boxes full of silver,20 gold coins, and a huge stamp collection. The coin collection value I can figure out. I have no idea even where to start with the stamp collection. There are letters written to my grandparents during WW2.Letters written from people we don't know. Full books of stamps, sheets, and roles. Pounds of stamps. Any help with the stamp collection would be appreciated. Mike

Chasing high and low spots?

I use the Metallizer Aluminum Plate for a primer. Block sanding is the way to go. If I see any metallizer at HL I aways pick up a couple of cans. Last count I have 11. Mike -
Kutza drug store in Chicago was, hardware store, candy store, comic bookstore and model store. No models were over $1.98. The Testors bottles where 10 cents, glue was 15 cents and spray cans were 50 cents. I see a lot of car kits going for over $100.00. I am not cheap but a $100.00 for a model car kit is too rich for my blood. Mike

If I wanted to sell it, I would start by joining a Pontiac club. The price he is asking is reasonable. The No Reserve seller's premium at Mecum was 5% and goes up from there. Mike -

Some of today's factory paint jobs would have been called custom way back when. The Mazda is a perfect example. IMO Mike -
Gloss clear lacquer what are you using

I decant the paint into a small bottle and put it into a cup with about a half inch of hot water. Once it looks like the bubbles are gone, I screw the cap onto the bottle and shake it to make sure the bubbles are gone. It only takes about 5 minutes to gas out. Mike -
My point is that there is not enough surface on a spoon to get an accurate feed back We've developed this massive, high impact Polystyrene Speed Shape to give you the best possible surface for testing and display. The larger surface area and curves, over our original Speed Shapes, will help bring out some of the colors and finish details that could be too subtle to notice on the smaller shapes. Mike

What did you see on the road today?
Mike 1017 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, I will check it out. The south is infamous for rebuilding flood damaged cars, total wrecks, and odometer fraud. I went with a friend to check out a used 1989 Mustang. I insisted that the car be put up on a rack so we could look at. It had rusted drivers' floor pan and had plywood placed under the carpet to hide the holes in the floor pan. The right wheel well was rusted through, and it looked like some sort of steel wool was shoved into holes. Last but not least the oil pan drain plug was stripped. The car looked great detailed out to the max. Buyer beware!!! -
As always, a beautiful build Mike

Candy Brandywine...
Mike 1017 replied to Straightliner59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think that Kandy Brandywine and Kandy Apple Red are iconic colors that will never go away. Pastels {Miami Vice} and gray tweed interiors. And these wheels. Are fads that went away. -

I am a little late for comments. A 440 Super Bee for $34,900? There has gotta be some major issues with that car. All of his cars seem to be under valued -

I use Speed Shapes when I am experimenting with any sort of paint and primer combo. IMO plastic spoons are too small and not enough surface area. Example the spoon does not craze. Then you paint the car. Parts of the hood crazes and nothing else. The Speed Shapes are only a couple of dollars. They are as a big as a 1:24 body or a little more. Mike
