  1. i've found that a 'flat' background works better with a 'gloss' car... got any old calendars, those big, Wurth, Mac Tools, etc...about 3'x4' kinda thing...nice heavy white glossy paper on the reverse sides...now, the top tip... i paint these... some are flatted, primer combo[black/grey], get creative... glossy... flat base, 'playing' with primer...lol
  2. and then there's the 'amnisty' projects...lolol i have WAY to many of those...hehehehe
  3. i may mosey over, if i can finish somethin!!!
  4. with a strip of glue as a fuse!!! but those little black floaties got over everything!!! most all of my worst builds never got built!! never made it that far...lolol
  5. or just some flatblack and a wipe of Armor All, instant semigloss matte!!
  6. hmmm, same outcome as Clay's but seems to be easier...thnx.
  7. looking 'natural'..... 'blushing'....
  8. being in the parts biz on the Dealer side for 35+ years, i HAVE seen it all!! lady come in to have a sealdbeam installed, she did purchase it from us, the Service Mgr did install it in her Nova in the drive thru, for FREE... well, not 5 minutes after she left she was back ranting about 'what did you do to my car?? ....so the Service Mgr took a deep breath, then stated "we didn't even open the hood on the car mam!!! " well, she wouldn't have it!! he refunded the $$ for the headlite and told her that RT50 runs east to west and there's another Chev store..... that was the FIRST time i've seen a customer put down the road!!! some customers you just have to treat that way.. nothing you do will ever be good enough for some people....IE: problem customer, not problem car, after numerous trips to the Service Dept with no satisfaction, he started making a scene...the Owner came out to try and appease him, but, when asked what he wanted, he stated "he didn't know", well, the owner said to him "then how the hell can we satisfy you if you don't even know what you WANT!!!" i also had the 'weird' customers that nobofy else wanted, well being Parts Mgr, guess what i DID take care of them and they would only deal with me!! then you get into 'stealling' somebodys bidness!!! Saturn had 'areas' that were for YOUR facility, you wen't supposed to go outside your 'area' for Wholesale $$, Saturn even contacted me, i just told THEM that I wasn't calling the customers, THEY were calling ME, enough said... something else... have you ever asked for a discount at Kroger's?? Nordstrom's?? so, how come in the car/bike biz, everybody thinks they should get a discount?? do you the mark-up on clothes?? food products?? a hellova a lot!! but, if you ask for a discount, they kinda glaze over, "that'l be $115.54" oh yeah, attitude begets attitude.....and, THEY don't really know how much that part is, the more they futz with you the more the part goes up!!! IJS.... ok, done now.... carry on....
  9. Alyn, when i saw the post, i thought you meant the 'top' color.. didn't know about yer 'condition'..bet it makes some 'fun' color combo's!!! the top color is the Magenta/Gold, the 2nd is the Red/Blue and the 3dr is the Purple/Green on the black... forgot to credit 'Bondo' Ken Brickerll [sp?] with the graffix...
  10. John, you've gotten more done in 8 days than i have in 8 YEARS!!!! please TAKE A BREAK!!! J/K...
  11. i built one a looong time ago and made mine orange with the vynyl top.... carry on.....
  12. umm, red??? which red would that be?? lol
  13. nuttin like lettin it gas out at the contest!!! i love the smell of lacquer in the morning!! lol came out verrry nice,,, good luck at the show... oh yeah, don't DROP it from here to there.... hehehe
  14. do y'all know that the different color tips have different spray patterns?? yup!! primer tips flow more paint that clearcoat tips, etc...
  15. here's a combo of black and 3 DupliKolor Mirage flip/flop rattlecans... this is Black Gold House of Kolor with no clear... this has Tamiya paint and clear...
  16. i'm with JW on the Parts Pack Caddy motor, but, i like the 4carb setup!!
  17. the only thing i don't like about the 'new' PlastiKote, are those d a m big white spraytips!! i pull them off and use an old style tip[red]... i've found that the DupliColor primer takes more for the same coverage as the PlastiKote... and the PlastiKote drys a lot 'smoother' than the DupliColor..IMHO...
  18. ...so will brake fluid!! but, if you soak the motor, be sure it's 'sealed' or else you'll be fixing 'weeps' coming from the inside...
  19. i use an acrylic blackwash, as it's eaiser to fix if ya mess somethin up!! lol
  20. yeah, the Saturn battery, S car not L car!! lol.. hey nick!! did 13+ years as parts manager a Saturn 'facility'...lol oh yeah, Mark, excellent, as usual..lol and it's not even 'swelled' on the sides!! lol
  21. Dave, those bead cones will make excellent 'headers' for HotRods, rather than ruining some paint brushes...
  22. i have had personal experience with this... a nice guy, but, ALWAYS brought the same stuff every year, nice enough, but, get something NEW!!! anyway, we, as most of y'all, have a rule about previous winners not coming back...well, can ya read my mind?? yep, he won THAT class THAT time!! never saw that model again!! lol my own idea is to show the model for a year at events, one time only, win or lose, one time only!!
  23. ^^ i've seen you at some NNL's!! Jersey, Toledo, ATL....
