how about just a light sanding then some clear to 'smooth' it out... then more clear, then sand again...

well, would pass emissions test kinda thing...when they stil tested..lol

when did it become cheaper to just 'replace it' as opposed to 'rebuild it'?? being an old Parts guy, I remember pulling parts to rebuild most anything[well, GM anyway]... diode trio and a regulator for your alternator.. .brushes for the starter, wiper motor parts, carb's, transmissions, etc, etc.... I've always said that if you can SEE the plugs/plug wires, you should be able to change them!! lol IMHO, 1980 was the worst year for autos[again, GM anyway]... the ECM!!! it all started from this...who would have thought that to do a proper tune-up on a car nowadays, you need a $5000 multi function tool!!! and another thing...what's gonna happen to all this 'trickery' down the road?? back in the day, a window crank was around $3.00... a power window motor was about $180, now power windows are nice, but, when they quit working... cars now have up to 10 different computers in/on them to control EVERYTHING... dunno, gimme a mid/late 70's car that I can work on and i'll guarantee it'll run as clean as a NEW car does...

thin down some acrylic[water based] flat black, very runny, and just 'paint' the grill...when dry, wipe the 'highlights' and the chrome has a nice dark backing... make sense?? they even make a product for this, but, if you don't have any...

...or forget about paint thickness and panel fitment... "that looked good mocked up"...

yeah, the only things that jumped out at me were the 'backwards' grill mounting and the body seams are a little much...other than that, LOVE IT!! now, on the next build, wire up the motor!!

I've had some red plastic bleed thru grey PlastiCote primer a couple times...orange plastic also[once]...I read somewhere to under use a silver lacquer over the primer then color, clear, etc...

umm, looks a little more gold than silver...lol

and, don't disregard the cheaper ones at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels as you can trim the bigger ones to what you want... also, got any old margarine bowls?? the deep plastic kind?? drill holes in the top to store the brushes...add some of that 'green stuff' in the bottom to hold them steady, and just stand them up..

I take a spray bottle with filled with water and spritz the entire 'paint area' before I lay any 'nice' paint down...not so much worried about primers and such, but 'nice' color coats and clears..

nicely done...to me, the 6 series is one of my fav's... any 6 series...

I've been happy with the Pactra RC paints...their white pearl is a true pearl, nicely opaque, 1 or 2 coats over white or grey primer and of course clearcoat gives an excellent pearl finish ... my 2 pennies...

in my club[Cincinnati Auto Replicas] when we were 'doing' group build, we'd go by the direction sheets..ie: engine, chassis, interior and body... make copies of particular sections and include the parts that are only related to your 'choice'... we weren't supposed to 'talk to each other', but, I had to let the engine guy know I was making 'dumps' for the exhaust and running the cheater slicks and scratched some traction bars, kind of a weekend dragger thing... ours, 1966 Charger, came out excellent...nice green/black two tone paint, white pearl interior, Hemi of course, and the excellent chassis!![MY part!] at the end of the year we would 'bid' on all the projects we had done over that year!! I ended up with the Charger for the princely sum of $20!!

how can I find out if I have 'points'?? lol i'm such a bad dooooood... lol never mind...ZERO points!!

^^me to, I just 'tape' the doors/hoods to the bottom/sides of the 'holder' and when you paint the side of the model, paint what's below also...voila!! same shades... works for me...

...my start to finish ratio!!! lol

excellent build going on...always wondered about these Fisher kits.. definite bucket list model...
