Love the look! Love the fox tail! Love the interior panel detailing! But... ya got the steering wheel upside down!

A model casts a shadow, too...

After you finish painting Mr. T's face, you should give him a coat of dull clear. The only part of him that should be shiny is the jewelry!

My Art Deco Aero Coupe Updated Jan 3, 2010
Harry P. replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is scratchbuilding at its ultimate. Just goes to show, a talented enough modeler doesn't need a kit to build a model! I hope you're taking high quality in-progress shots... this would make a very nice magazine feature... -
Yup... the odds in this game stay pretty constant week to week...

You guys are putting out some incredibly cool stuff!

Didn't you just contradict yourself???

Here are my thoughts: I personally like the idea of an off-topic section. I admit I'd be the first guy in there on most of the posts, as I like the "off-topic" stuff as much, if not more, than the next guy. But even if we set up things where the OT section was a separate, "opt in" type of thing, and even if we set it up so that those who didn't want to take part or even see the OT section were accounted for, we'd still have problems, because the people who do take part in the OT section will inevitably wind up in some pretty nasty arguments... I can guarantee that! And I can also pretty much guarantee that the bad feelings will spillover into the rest of the site, members will start getting angry with other members, nasty PMs will be sent, and in general there will be an undercurrent of ill will that will inevitably spread throughout the forum... no matter how "self-contained" the OT section was. I think the best idea is for each of us to simply think before we post. Let's be honest here, we all know what's off topic and what's not. Let's each police ourselves and keep the OT stuff for another site. If we all make just a small effort to keep our posts on topic, we can avoid 99% of the problems we've been seeing here lately regarding what's off topic and what's not. And if after all this, a few questionable topics do still get posted, I'm simply going to delete them... because there's no way I can make you all happy. Accommodate group A and group B gets mad at me... accommodate group B and group A gets mad at me... do nothing and both group A and group B get on my case. So since I simply can't keep you all happy, I'm going to stop trying to be Mr. Nice Guy and start running things here the way Gregg and I want them to be run. If anyone has a post deleted, you can PM me for an explanation, but I'm not going to keep trying to explain things here on the forum. Consider this the official explanation of how things will go her from here forward. BTW... this isn't going to turn into some sort of police state. There is room for a certain amount of "off topic" stuff, and common sense should be your guide. If you don't have enough common sense to make your own decision, I'll make the decision for you when I see the post.

Well... it's obvious where this is headed... I can't figure you guys out. First you get on my case (via PMs) that you don't want off-topic posts. So now I try to stop the off-topic posts... and you're getting on my case for doing that!!! Well, you can't have it both ways!

Ok, gang, how about this one? Real or model? The answer: REAL!
-
They put a six-cylinder distributor in the kit? Geez, talk about asleep at the switch. Hello, quality control??? Is there anybody in there???
-
I thought licensing fees had become a killer for racing models. How do these kits get around that?

What in the world does "server problems" have to do with posting off-topic stuff?

Looks to me like the Revell has both an incorrect roof profile (viewed from the side) and an incorrect rear window (corners much too square). AMT's body is the clear winner here. And the missing panel lines between the rear window and the trunk lid on the AMT body are easy enough to scribe into place.

Looking for bright colored detail wire
Harry P. replied to Evil Appetite's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Don't know exactly what colors you want, but you can buy "phone wire" by the foot at any home improvement store for a few cents a foot. There are four different colored coated wires inside... black, yellow, green and red. They scale out to approx. 1/24-25 scale ignition wire. Also... you can buy white (coated) wire at Radio Shack or a similar place, and make it any color you want with a colored permanent marker, like a Sharpie. -
So explain to us how this is not off-topic.

A little more info on TDR coming in the next issue of MCM... Actually a lot more info!

Inappropriate forum behavior
Harry P. replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You met Tiran Porter? That's pretty cool. Totally Off Topic comment... I love the "pre-Mike McDonald" Doobies... they were really good. Toulouse Street and The Captain and Me are about as good as "pop rock" gets, IMO... OK... back to our topic. -
Does anyone remember Jim Keeler doing basically the same exact thing about 40 years ago? (Dodge Fever)...

No need to hurry! Chill, man... this is the place where we all come to relax! I think... -

Well, George, of course you know you get a special exemption!!! Just for joo! -
Inappropriate forum behavior

That's sheer laziness... Sorry... but if you're going to make a point about correct spelling, grammar, etc... well, you know. I don't mean that in any way as a slam on you, Bill... but I think maybe we're all being a little hard on "buba" or "bubba" or whoever he wants to be. I agree that we should all do our best to try and be coherent, but maybe he is doing his best! Who knows? We all come from very different backgrounds and have very different educational levels. It's impossible for us to know what the next man's situation is by simply reading his posts. Maybe we should all just give the guy a break? -
Women. Go figure.
