  1. I've spent most of the day on ebaymotors. Let's see... so far I've bought a new billet aluminum grille, louver panels for the rear quarter windows, and some "retro" style chrome bezels for the taillights. I'm like a kid in a candy store! Somebody stop me! This Mustang business sure is fun!
  2. Alright, kids. Enough with the tough-guy nonsense.
  3. George, the rule is similar to our immigration laws... if a mom gets turned into a zombie, her kid will automatically be granted zombie status at birth, no questions asked, and will be eligible for all zombie rights and benefits...
  4. Oh, BTW... I have gotten photos submitted by others from time to time. Some were good enough to use, some not... but I always welcome "special guest" photos!
  5. Yep, that's it! Pretty amazing model, huh?
  6. Actually I wanted to retire this a long time ago! But I'll keep it going as long as there's interest... and as long as I can find a photo every week!
  7. After doing this 87 times, the pickings are getting mighty slim. It's getting harder and harder to find a picture every week...
  8. Actually I don't have it at home yet... I'm picking it up today... right after I post this. Gotta drive out to Rockford and go get it. You guys were too smart, this one's a MODEL! (1/8 scale)... Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  9. One UK gallon = 1.2 US gallon. Also... you guys drive on the wrong side of the street...
  10. 300 hp 320 lb/ft torque 0-60 in 5 seconds top speed 150 mileage 17/25 Oh well... can't win 'em all!
  11. What really aggravates me is the fact that the government first pumped billions of our money into a failing company in order to "save" it (yeah, right!)... and now they go bankrupt anyway! (with GM to follow shortly, I'd guess). Instead of persuading GM and Chrysler to do the smart and prudent thing and file bankruptcy right off the bat, then restructure and come out leaner and more efficient, the geniuses in Washington first threw billions of our dollars at the failing companies in some sort of misguided attempt at "rescuing" them, then let them go into bankruptcy anyway!!! Our tax dollars at work.
  12. That's exactly what they (and GM) should have done in the first place, before we flushed billions of dollars down the "bailout" toilet.
  13. I think I found my car! I'm going to see it tomorrow morning... it's just outside of Rockford, about 1/2 hour from me. Stay tuned...
  14. Neither am I! If I get a Mustang it would be my first Ford ever!!!
  15. Yeah, it would be my regular car, but a manual in the city doesn't bother me. I've driven nothing but manuals since 1984, so I'm used to it. And resale value doesn't matter to me... I keep my cars for a long time, until they basically have no resale value anyway. By the time I'm ready to get rid of a car, it's pretty much worthless... I do get my money's worth out of every car I buy! My current car is a 2001 with 140,000 miles on it. It's not worth much. I'd be lucky to get 3-4K for it. But I have to say, the bad reviews coming from a lot of you guys has me re-thinking things... My second choice was the new Challenger. I'll have to give that one a try, too.
  16. I use strips of white artist's tape that I rub a little black acrylic paint onto with a bit of paper towel, to knock off the stark white color a bit. White artist's tape comes in rolls the same size as masking tape, but it's a little thicker and it's white, not "masking tape" color. You can find it at any art supply store.
  17. Chicago... no coast (unless you count Lake Michigan) and no mountains... but a LOT of wide open highway, especially downstate. Good idea on renting one.
  18. The only Mustang I've ever driven belongs to a friend of mine... a '65 coupe with a 289, I think. Naturally I "took it easy"... it was her baby!!!
  19. Is the Continental kit in a different time zone than the rest of the car???
  20. What????!!!! Me????
  21. They wanted to keep some "Porscheness", that's for sure... I dunno... as odd as it is to see a 4-door Porsche, I don't think it looks too bad. I think it's more the shock of seeing a 4-door Porsche for the first time rather than bad design. It looks a lot better, imo, than when Jaguar stretched the E-Type in order to make it a 2+2. Yeah, it's "different"... but not bad. Hey, at least they didn't put a Bangle butt on it! If "Styling Snafus" still existed, I'd have a crack at it, for sure!!!
  22. I'm about ready for my next car, and I'm seriously considering a Mustang... however, I have never driven one. I've never even sat inside one (I'm talking about the new "retro" models). Obviously I'll have to check one out at a dealer, but as you all know it's basically impossible to give a new car a real test drive with the saleman sitting right there next to you. Soooooo, I'd like to hear from anyone out there who has one. I'm leaning toward the V6, and it'll definitely be a manual. The V6 seems like a pretty good bang-for-the-buck choice. I don't really need the V8's performance or gas mileage. Any owner comments from you guys, either positive or negative? Anything particularly stand out in your minds?
  23. Obviously Porsche wants to be more than just a niche market brand. If the Cayenne doubled their sales, a 4-door sedan can't hurt. BTW... that's a very good looking sedan, imo.
  24. And that's as it should be. GM offers (offered?) way too many different makes/models, and too many similar/redundant lines. Add up all the various makes and all the different models of each make, and you see that GM had probably hundreds of different models. That's insane.
