  1. Neither do I.
  2. How do you steer the front wheels?
  3. Right. And we're in that country.
  4. It's going to be fully remastered, with a director's cut and extensive liner notes and commentary, along with a never-before-seen alternate ending and hilarious outtakes.
  5. It would look a whole lot more realistic if you foiled the window trim.
  6. Just curious, but why do you spell "check" C-H-E-Q-U-E?
  7. Not where I live. I use my debit card every day, for everything. Never have to sign. Maybe it depends on the place where you use it? Even so, if you have to sign... big deal. What's the problem?
  8. You don't sign if you use a debit card, you only sign if it's a credit card. Your debit card PIN is your "signature." And the verification is instantaneous. The time it takes to swipe the card, punch in a 4 digit PIN and hit "enter" is faster than handing the person cash, and waiting for them to count it up, put it in the correct slots in the cash register, and count out my change. Plus I never have to worry about being a few bucks short, and never have to go to the ATM to get cash.
  9. Capacitor was replaced. No difference.
  10. Why would you guys carry around a pocketful of cash when you can pay for everything with a debit card? Not a credit card, a debit card. Works just like a credit card as far as convenience (swipe and go), but the money comes out of your checking account. So it's like paying with cash without the hassle of carrying around cash! Seriously... why would anyone still walk around with a wad of cash in their pockets?
  11. Well, technically I could have bought the new motor and fixed the old opener. But when a replacement part costs more than buying a whole new unit, well...
  12. Who actually pays cash for anything these days?
  13. I hope not! I have dozens of them from when my girls were... well, girls!
  14. Rich... all's well that ends well. In my case... free opener. All is good!
  15. It is pretty painful to look at.
  16. That's a very flashy model, Bill...
  17. Ok.... my lengthy and noble attempt to revive my dead opener has officially been called off. The Reader's Digest condensed version: 1. Called the Genie support center, went through a step-by-step troubleshooting sequence, was told part "A" was the problem. Bought part "A," installed it, same broken opener. 2. Repeat step 1, this time, since part "A" had been ruled out, bought recommended part "B," installed it, same broken opener. 3. Repeat step 1 again, this time, since parts "A" and "B" had been ruled out and I still had a broken opener, they offered to send me the last thing it could possibly be (part "C") for free. Received it today, installed it, same broken opener. From my third attempt at a troubleshooting session, I learned that if parts A, B, and C are not the problem (which they were not)... the only possibility left is that the motor itself is bad (worn bearings), and a replacement would run $150. When I cheerfully told the tech on the line that I could buy an entire brand new opener for less than that, she wholeheartedy agreed. Plus/Minus of my attempt to fix the opener... On the minus side... three weeks worth of troubleshooting sessions, ordering/waiting for/installing parts/testing/calling back. On the plus side...I now know so much about this particular model of Genie garage door opener that I could easily get a job as one of their online troubleshooting techs! And the parts I bought (that were not needed) are returnable, so I'm only out the cost to mail them back. And the happy ending... my son bought me a whole new opener! And so ends the story of Harry and the broken garage door opener...
  18. That's exactly the problem. Way too many people are not willing to put in the time and effort to try and form an informed opinion based on the facts, not their own preconceived ideas of what's true. They just tend to listen to/read/watch those outlets that support and reinforce their own already formed views, no matter how off-base. And that practice further divides us.
  19. It's nice to see a model of a "regular" car every once in a while.
  20. But only while the designers were blindfolded...
  21. Interesting. I've never heard of it either, but a great solution if it works! Much less expensive than commercial setting solutions.
