  1. Ditto to all of the above. That is a beauty!
  2. Exactly. On any public forum, anyone who wants to chime in can do so, and it's inevitable that you're going to get several posts that are similar or repetitive, because there will always be forum members that have similar views. It's unavoidable. The thing that bugs me is when someone jumps in and tells someone else that they have no right to post their opinion, or that their opinion isn't valid, because they're a "rivet counter" and "no kit is perfect" and "we're modelers, we can fix it" or whatever. News flash: "Rivet counters" have the same right to post their opinions as non-rivet counters.
  3. I agree with you that people should stick strictly with the topic at hand and not branch off into semi-related tangents. But human nature being what it is, that's probably asking for the impossible.
  4. Actually a lot of the comments here are aimed at the people who pointed out the errors, chastising them for doing so. It happens every time someone points out a problem, flaw, or mistake in a kit. Certain others will inevitably jump in to remind us that there's no such thing as a perfect kit, that the people who pointed out the problem are "rivet counters" or otherwise cranky, whiny complainers, etc. Look back at any thread that revolves around a particular kit's flaws and you'll see the same "no kit is perfect" type of posts over and over again. The problem is, pointing out a kit's flaws does not mean that the person doing so expects perfection. Some people just have a problem when other people point out a kit's flaws. It's weird, but they seem to take it as some sort of personal attack. I don't get it.
  5. Well, if you really mean that... The medallion at the top of the interior door panel, the door handle, and the window cranks should be chrome. The wipers should be silver, not black. On the plus side, the paint looks fantastic! Try some decal setting solution on the air cleaner decal... that'll get it to flatten out.
  6. There are all kinds of cool ads in there... scroll through all the pages.
  7. When I was building my vintage 1/12 scale MPC Bentley Blower, I had the model about 90% finished. Somehow it was knocked to the floor (ceramic tile) and broke into a million pieces. Broken springs, broken axles, broken headlights, broken everything. I basically had to start over. Actually I had to start before starting over, because first I had to repair all the individual broken parts before I could begin reassembling the model.
  8. Nicely done!
  9. There's no way I'd take a car worth upwards of a million dollars into traffic. You never know when the next drunk or distracted driver is going to pop up. You can control your own driving, you can't control anyone else's. I just wouldn't risk a car that valuable on public roads. Maybe Ralph Lauren and Jay Leno have private roads they drive on... but I don't!
  10. At this point that car is seen more as a financial investment than a car that you would actually drive. In fact, seeing as how it's one of only two in existence, you'd be crazy to actually drive it. If I had the kind of bank account where I could consider buying it, I think I'd pass. Like you guys have said, owning it but not being able to enjoy it seems senseless. I'd rather buy a cool car that I could drive without worrying about risking my "investment." Exactly.
  11. Everything else has been eliminated. The Genie tech had me check the limit switches, the door-mounted pushbutton, everything. It literally has to be the main circuit board (which includes the open/close force adjusters)... there are no other parts left that it could possibly be. The board should arrive today, I'll report what happens... BTW... installing a garage door opener is simple. Time consuming, but nothing difficult or technical. All you need is a stepladder and a few basic hand tools (sockets, adjustable wrench, screwdriver). I did mine, I had no experience doing that, or any help. I just followed the instructions step by step. I'm sure you can also do it.
  12. Anyone who has served in the military in actual combat has more "spherical objects" than I can ever hope to have.
  13. Looks very good to me!
  14. The only problem is it's too rare (and valuable) to drive.
  15. A nice looking model of one of the best looking big Chevys ever!

  17. Well, now... that's.. um.... different.
  18. For the free blanket.
  19. The only thing worse than the clueless wonders who get into the express lane with a month's worth of groceries are the clueless wonders who get into the express lane with a month's worth of groceries and then pay by writing a paper check...
  20. How about this one? Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
  21. Fiberglass rust is the worst kind of rust...
  22. They offer it in body color. Unfortunately it's $300 extra!!!
  23. They come with a 3-year guarantee, so I assume they're legit.
