  1. A lot of my reference photos show no pinstriping on the body at all. As far as the pinstripes on the wheels... that's just not gonna happen!
  2. Very nice photo.
  3. Do what you have to do!
  4. The Mercer is estimated to arrive first week of March... so I can't complain yet!
  5. Yeah, no framed model car boxtops on my walls.
  6. Sounds like you got a great deal. Amazing how digital camera prices have come down while quality has gone up. I have an older Sony Cyber-shot. Maybe 5-6-7 years old? I remember when I bought it, the 7.2 megapixels was pretty much top of the line. Today that's nothing.
  7. I'm looking forward to digging into it. Should be here in a few days.
  8. Auto macro is a good thing!
  9. I've never even gotten close to 30. The best I ever did was about 24, during a 3-hour highway trip. According to the EPA, my car is supposed to get 15 city, 23 highway. I get right around 20, 99% not highway driving... so I think I'm doing ok.
  10. If you shoot close-ups the macro setting has to be on (the little tulip icon). Anything from about two feet or farther, macro off. It's all in the manual.
  11. I just snagged one of these on ebay. Can't wait to see the kit in person.
  12. Pretty slick, Cruzer...
  13. Here are a couple of shots of the rear shocks (modified Mercer units with scratchbuilt mounting brackets) and the scratchbuilt brake system (the Aurora Stutz kit has none of these parts... no brake system at all). I could have pirated the brake parts from the Fuman Mercer kit, but the brake rods were the wrong length, so rather than reworking the Mercer kit parts I just went ahead and scratchbuilt the whole system using brass rod, styrene tube, and the old standby, hex-shaped styrene rod for all the nuts. I didn't have much photo reference to go by, so the brake system is pretty much copied from my built Mercer kit, more or less.
  14. I don't expect any serious long-term warm up until May. Around here, March is usually more a "winter" month than a "spring" month, regardless of what the calendar says. And April can also be all over the place, from warm to cold.
  15. I average 20 mpg in my Mustang GT. Actually a hair over. Not fantastic... but not too shabby.
  16. Is it a car? Is it a truck? I'd say more car than truck, so you posted in the right place.
  17. Lower left is a front wheel, lower right is a rear wheel.
  18. Yep. Those 90-90 days are a killer here (90 degrees and 90% humidity). Miserable. But I'd take a day like that over a 10 below zero day any time.
  19. Well, I guess I'm in the minority here. I like TV. Yes, there is an amazing number of completely stupid shows on TV, but it's easy enough to just not watch them! I have never seen a minute of Honey Boo Boo, the Kardashians, Duck Dynasty, etc., etc., and don't plan to. But if you look past the trash, there is a lot of good stuff on TV. I love the PBS series "American Experience." Fantastic. A few years ago the British Granada Television produced an absolutely spectacular series of Sherlock Holmes episodes. And there's a lot more. I also like a lot of "mindless" sitcoms... great to just sit back at the end of the day and get a few laughs. And I'm a big baseball fan and watch the Sox a LOT during the season. Ditto for the Bears. You just have to be a bit discerning and look for the good stuff and look past the trash.
  20. Bad photos aren't the camera's fault, whether digital camera or cell phone camera. Any cell phone camera or digital camera is capable of taking an in-focus photo. The problem is the person taking the pictures, not the cameras.
  21. There's always going to be a "new" thing coming along. The more looks we've gone through, the harder it is to come up with something that hasn't been done yet and still looks good. We're starting to hit the bottom of the barrel as far as automotive fads go...
  22. That's some mighty impressive building.
  23. That is spectacular in every way! I love it! It looks like it could have come straight out of the Lab-RAT-ory...
  24. Well, I'm standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona... such a fine sight to see...
