  1. Bill, did you check the dimensions listed? The ribs are pretty tightly spaced. They might not be perfectly to scale, but should be close enough to pass for "correct."
  2. Did you add the working lights?
  3. Interesting how their customer service is all over the place, from perfect to non-existent. I wonder what would explain such a wide variety of experiences you guys have had.
  4. Maybe HO scale model railroad ribbed sheet styrene? http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/Sheets.htm
  5. Nice colors, nice wheels, nicely done overall. I like the way you coordinated the interior color with the inner fenders. Now the downside: your foil work is pretty ragged, especially around the wipers and the base of the windshield. I suggest you burnish down the foil better, using maybe a Q-tip or a toothpick, trying to work out some of the wrinkles... then go over all the edges with a sharp blade and try to clean up some of those ragged edges and excess foil.
  6. Nice.
  7. In business, the bottom line is king.
  8. But the whole issue was the acoustic intro, not the rest of the song. I dunno... I hear a lot of similarities between the intros... more than just coincidental. If I was on that jury I would have voted guilty.
  9. To blackwash the grille, prop up the model on some books or cans of paint or whatever, so that the grille as as perfectly horizontal as you can get it. Then add the wash and let gravity do its thing.
  10. I'm not sure I understand the problem. Is it a problem of access? Maybe needle-nosed tweezers will help.
  11. Yes, and that 15% savings is exactly why all of our models are manufactured in China. In any business, the bottom line is profit. If a business can manufacture a product here, or can manufacture that same product elsewhere for 15% less... what would any business owner do? As long as there are other countries that undercut our production costs, there will be outsourcing. And as far as scale and accuracy issues... aren't the kits engineered here? Only the actual manufacturing is done overseas, no?
  12. Details? How old is your daughter? How long have you owned the car? Did you buy it as is, or restore it yourself?
  13. Thanks, Ray. I do know that there are people here who do care, and I'm very grateful.
  14. Is there a reason why the hood doesn't close?
  15. Company X in the US makes widgets. Due to OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, unions, etc., it costs Company X $5 to manufacture one widget. Company Z in China has no OSHA regs, no EPA regs, no unions. It costs them 35ยข to manufacture the same widget. How does Company X compete with Company Z?
  16. Nicely done. Paint looks great. But to my eye it looks like a 4x4... it's riding pretty high.
  17. And that's not ever going to change. It's human nature to want a "deal" when buying something. Price is always the number one factor in most people's buying decisions.
  18. I have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist tomorrow (Monday). Hopefully he will be able to identify the problem and the treatment. Until then it's painkillers every day, twice a day. It's the only way I can deal with the pain.
  19. And that's what the majority of American consumers look at first. Not quality. Price.
  20. That's pretty cool! I suggest a black wash on the grille for a little more depth and detail.
  21. A little liquid cement and some sanding and you'll never know the body was split. That's a minor problem. With classics like this, color scheme is always important. Any ideas yet?
  22. Ok, then, Vietnam. Or Cambodia. Or Pakistan. Or wherever. The point being, there will always be a labor force somewhere that severely undercuts out labor and production costs.
  23. Labor costs in China are far below those costs here. No American worker is going to work at a job that pays a dollar a day (or whatever ridiculously small amount), but Chinese workers will. How do you get around that? How does an American company that has to pay its workers a competitive wage plus benefits compete with a Chinese company that makes the same product, but at a far lower cost?
  24. I took a Valium a few hours ago. Nothing. Pain is incredible. I tried to lie down and go to sleep... not happening. Pain is too intense. I took another Valium just now. Man, I need relief, but it's not happening. This is no way to live.
