Guys, I'm once again having some medical issues that are putting everything else on the back burner. More info as I get it. Right now I'm undergoing tests.

Firing order for American engines.

I'd be glad to see scale models with scale diameter ignition wires routed in a realistic scale way and not the "rainbow" way that some people do it, never mind correct firing order. -
Very nice. But you have the shifter handle twisted the wrong way. The passenger isn't going to be doing the shifting!

I have to admit I admire you guys who go to this level of detail. But I don't understand why you would do it. It's a feature that literally nobody will ever notice, even a judge at a contest. This is taking rivet counting to the ultimate extreme. -
Automobilia? Here's a start!

Carl, if you want to get into auto-related stamps, the US has put out a lot of cool ones, like these: You can buy a 3-ring binder and blank album pages from Mystic Stamp Company, and create your own page layouts. The best place to start shopping for stamps like these is ebay. -
Exspensive starting up

Don't buy sheet styrene at a hobby shop. Those plastic "Beware of Dog" or "No Trespassing" signs are made of sheet styrene. All you have to do is get some thinner and wipe off the graphics. Here's a 9x12 sheet at Walmart for 67¢! http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=beware of dog sign Another example: http://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Hillman-Group-8-in-x-12-in-Plastic-Auto-For-Sale-Sign-839932/100199870 -

I laid these two images on top of each other. They match up just about perfectly. -

That would be very easy to scratchbuild yourself. -
I vote "none of the above." But if I have to pick among your 5 choices, I pick #4. But I really prefer option #6...

Chris, you need to understand that we all have different opinions and we are all free to state those opinions. This is a forum... it's all about people having their say, regardless of whether or not you agree. There's no need to get personal just because someone has an opinion that doesn't agree with yours.

I'm not sure what goes on in your mind, but I have never insisted this thread is about forcing kids to get into modeling. Why you say that is beyond me. What this thread is about is the future of the hobby... and I expressed my opinion regarding the future of the hobby by commenting on the common idea that many current modelers have that they need to pass on the hobby to the kids. Just gave my opinion, didn't try to insist that this thread is about that. You need to lighten up, stop putting words into my mouth, and just try to be part of the conversation instead of being the guy in charge of what's acceptable and what's not as far as other people's opinions go.

The kit hasn't even been released yet and already they're offering an upgrade kit... http://meng-model.com/new.php?id=605

Tom, do you collect auto-related stamps as a topical subject? -
Hey, you're getting a free can of paint! Winning!

I wonder why the "practical auto repair man" in Aurora, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) would be writing to someone in California? -
Not sure what you mean by that.

If the problem was "inside the can," the only logical explanation is that the propellant has somehow escaped. And if that is the case... if there was some sort of leak in the can, you would also see evidence of paint escaping through that leak. No way the propellant could escape without some of the paint taking that same route. Take the can, minus the nozzle, hold it pointed away from you and towards some newspaper, unbend a paper clip and insert it into the nozzle hole. If paint shoots out, the problem isn't the can, it's the nozzle.

First line of the first post: For decades now, I have seen the attempts to bring kids in to our hobby. I "interpreted" that exactly as stated. So obviously the question of "passing on" the hobby is an integral part of this conversation. Or maybe I have a poor comprehension of English. One or the other...

Apparently Prince didn't know that. I can imagine how debilitating chronic pain can be. And I can easily see how Prince took a bit too much pain killer, if he was in constant pain, as has been reported. Someone should have given him a heart-to-heart talking to and gotten him to get the hip surgery he needed. Then again, he may have kept his situation private and told no one. In any case, it's a real shame. The guy was incredibly talented and would have had a lot of years ahead of him.

I've never understood some peoples belief that this hobby has to be passed on to future generations or it'll die. Future generations will either have enough interest to keep it alive... or they won't–and it will die. And if it dies... so what? How do the hobby choices of future generations have any effect on the hobby choices of the present generation? How do the hobby choices of our generation have any relevance to the hobby choices of past generations? It's like saying I love Italian food, so I have to get as many kids to like Italian food as I can, otherwise the lovers of Italian food will go down and possibly future generations won't like Italian food, like I did. So what? What do I care whether future generations have the same culinary tastes that I had? Why should they? Why should we be concerned whether or not future generations choose the same hobby we have chosen? Why is this an issue???
