  1. Too bad... you probably missed out on the deviled ham special...
  2. Maybe not such a good idea to be photographing your dashboard while driving down the street...
  3. First class passengers on Titanic had it pretty good! For a while...
  4. I've had kippered herring many times. It's quite good!
  5. For any of you gourmet chefs out there, here are the recipes to recreate the dinner menu on the Titanic's last day. Bon appetit! http://www.thedragonskitchen.com/2012/04/complete-first-class-titanic-menu.html
  6. I think they had the butter issue covered. Titanic carried three tons of it.
  7. I agree with Bill... epoxy paints would be the way I'd go. Nothing's tougher.
  8. Pretty sure the oysters would have been part of the 11,000 pounds of fresh fish. Probably should have called it fresh seafood...
  9. But not until the third day...
  10. No, the list includes fresh meat, eggs, fruits, etc.
  11. They must have had some sort of way to refrigerate the stuff. Not sure how, though.
  12. First Class passengers were obviously treated to the highest standards as far as menu selections and food quality. And Second Class passengers' meals were also prepared in the same kitchen, and by the same people, as that for First Class... the only difference for Second Class being fewer choices. But on Titanic, even Third Class passengers were treated very well. Considering the fact that most of the Third Class passengers were people immigrating to America, and not "society types," Titanic's Third Class menu was probably better than what most Third Class passengers were used to in their own personal lives. 3rd Class Menu BREAKFAST. Oatmeal Porridge & Milk Smoked Herrings, Jacket Potatoes Ham & Eggs Fresh Bread & Butter Marmalade Swedish Bread Tea Coffee DINNER (what we would call "lunch" today) Rice Soup Fresh Bread Cabin Biscuits Roast Beef with Brown Gravy Sweet Corn Boiled Potatoes Plum Pudding with Sweet Sauce Fruit TEA ("snack time," late afternoon) Cold Meat Cheeses Pickles Fresh Bread & Butter Stewed Figs & Rice Tea SUPPER (basically a late night snack) Gruel Cabin Biscuits Cheese
  13. Like Steve, I have to work, so building time is on an "as available" basis... so it's hard to say how long it would take me to build a model if I worked at it steadily. I really have no idea. I just don't pay attention to it. The length of time it takes me to finish a model is completely irrelevant to me.
  14. Yes, I know I have already started a thread on Titanic a while back, but I just find this ship fascinating. Just doing a little web surfing today, I found this list of what Titanic carried as far as provisions for the passengers and crew. 15. I don't remember specifically... maybe it was Bill Geary? who posted a fix-it thread that involved taking a narrow pie-cut out of the body sides to straighten everything out.
  16. I have models I started 30+ years ago and are still not completed.
  17. Now there's one thing I never could get the hang of. Tried skating but fell on my backside more than moved forward on wheels. Never did master it.
  18. Sand the body sides flush and create new side trim with styrene strip.
  19. Too easy? I've never even heard of her. But then again, I'm not a big fan of old movies.
  20. Wait a minute! I thought this was Hedly Lamarr!
  21. I can just picture you standing beside the road back in 1903 and watching a car sputter by... and saying "those things will never catch on!"
  22. Apparently, some people still like the "convenience" of consuming content on paper while using the big porcelain "device" in the bathroom!
