  1. I don't think that pointing out the flaws in a kit is "bashing." It's more like a heads-up to others who may be thinking about buying that same kit, and letting them know about any particular fit or accuracy issues that kit has. So what if the kit is old tooling? I think potential buyers still would like to know if there are any problems with it before they lay down their $$$. Let's be honest... some kits are real dogs. Wouldn't you want to know that if you were thinking about buying it? Or would you prefer to be "surprised" by a box full of inaccurate or badly fitting parts? If you read about the kit's problems here before you buy it, at least you have some information on which to base your decision to buy it or take a pass. If we're not allowed to comment on a kit's shortcomings, then what are we? Just cheerleaders for the manufacturers? If all we can say is "way to go, Model Company X," and nothing else, we may as well shut this place down. I say call 'em as you see 'em, positive and negative. That's what a forum is for.
  2. Yes, you really want to change the extension. Don't let that computer intimidate you... it's not the boss of you!
  3. Yes, but you have to be careful. It's really thin, almost like spraying water, so it's easy to spray too much. But it does work:
  4. Thank you, professor Jordan!
  5. And a Happy Festivus for the rest of us!
  6. Different contests have different definitions of "Box Stock," but I'm pretty sure that aftermarket or scratchbuilt add-ons like carb linkages are not considered "box stock."
  7. What? No Kwanzaa wishes???
  8. Ach! Zat is vy I vass haffink zo much trouble understandink your posts!
  9. Hmmm, interesting. I didn't know they offered a digital version.
  10. Monteverdi made some really nice looking cars!
  11. Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Muscle Machines, both from day 1. Both are outstanding magazines.
  12. It's probably an image file format that the forum can't display.
  13. I make fake bolt heads with hex rod. No neat trick I could tell you... I create about as many crooked ones as good ones. But even if I have to throw half of them out, it's still way cheaper than any aftermarket stuff or micro-scale actual fasteners. I agree that there are alternatives out there, but nothing as cheap on a per piece basis than styrene hex rod.... and Andy's bottom line was cost.
  14. You guys all know the rules, and no political posts allowed is one of them.
  15. If cost is the bottom line you're not going to find anything cheaper on a "per bolt" basis than just using slices of hex styrene rod to make bolt heads.
  16. The car is a 1970 Monteverdi 375/4 Sedan. There seems to be some disagreement as to the exact model year. All the photos posted at the Monteverdi Museum site are labeled 1970, so that's good enough for me! http://www.madle.org/emontemus.htm Who got it right: Badluck13 carsntrucks4you MikeMc trogdor jaymcminn maltsr PatRedmond Haubenschild ChrisR mr chips Mr. Moparman Modelmartin Johnny MrObsessive jon cole Erik Smith sjordan2 bbsbase
  17. Just a little tip if any of you guys actually go to Office Depot to buy this lamp... I looked on their website first, then drove to the store to actually buy it. The price online was $41.99, the price at the store was $61. When I asked about that, they said they'd match the online price. Do not pay $61 for it!
  18. Incinerated? What was she using for power, a 50,000 watt bulb???
  19. I didn't know there are mountains in Massachussetts! You can learn a lot of odd facts here!
  20. And don't forget the "Easy Bake Oven!"
  21. Same thing. Same diameter, same 3x magnification.
  22. The OTT lamps are nice but very pricey. With a 40% off coupon, not so bad, though.
