  1. The acrylics are flat, the acrylic enamels are gloss. There are actually several brands, they all come in the same size/type of plastic squeeze bottle, and they're all on display together in the same aisle. At my Hobby Lobby the brands they have are Anita's, Americana Acrylics, Americana Gloss Enamels, Craftsmart, Folk Art Acrylic, Enamels, and metallics (I think there's another brand that also has metallics). But once you find the right aisle, you'll see them all there on one giant display rack.
  2. They are near the scrapbooking stuff. They look like this:

  4. There are a lot of alternatives out there. Don't think that you have to buy "model paint," they're basically ripping you off. I started using "craft paints" for detail painting. They come in either acrylic or acrylic enamels, gloss and flat, available in several brands, and I get it at Hobby Lobby. It comes in 2 ounce bottles, there are literally hundreds of colors in both regular and metallics, and the best part is, depending on the brand, it costs about a buck a bottle. For painting bodies I've used DupliColor for many years. And there are many other options as far as brands and types of paints, and pretty much all of them will cost you a lot less per ounce than "model paints."
  5. Amen. "Model paint," when you look at the per ounce cost, is ridiculously expensive.
  6. Aside from the fact that the driver can't see where he's going, it's really cool!
  7. If it's the kit I think he means, then yes, it's a reissue, and it's very nice. Fully detailed engine, opening hood, trunk and doors, front seatbacks tilt forward, IIRC, separate chrome trim spears, etc. I think there's also an open/closed sunroof option.
  8. Are you sure it's not a '52 Beetle?
  9. Interesting! Thanks for the lowdown.
  10. Very nicely done! One question. What's up with that light on the right front fender being angled like that? I did a google search, and the photo I found shows the light the same way, so your model is correct. But why is it angled like that?
  11. ????? It's copy... paste. 5 seconds. How is that complicated?
  12. Don't assume that everyone knows what you're talking about. Kenn who? Chuck who? May as well make it clear who gets the credit!
  13. After the clear. The foil will not stick well to a flat (matte) finish.
  14. Fotki gives you the option to "Share this Photo." I think one of the choices is "share with forums" or something like that. All you have to do is pick that option (copy the info that option shows you) and post that info here in your post. Takes all of 5 seconds. I use Photobucket, so it works slightly differently... but I know for a fact that Fotki has an option to share a photos with other forums. Don't give up here because you don't know how to post a photo. Once you learn how it's done, you'll see how easy it is... and it has nothing to do with the "wonderful upgrades" here... you're just not doing it right!
  15. I use firefox and am on a Mac, just like you. I do it the way I described... I never have to sign in, because I don't sign out. Why it works differently for you, I have no idea.
  16. That's weird. I don't have to do any of that, I never see any screen with login information. I signed on here once, never signed out again. Whenever I come back here I'm already signed on. If there is some sort of option here to "remember me" or "remember my password," make sure that you have that selected. Another way to go: in your Firefox preferences there is a choice to "Show my windows and tabs from last time." I have that selected, so every time I open Firefox, not only do I not have to sign in here again, I don't even have to type in the url... because this site is already (and always) open. Same with my email program... I just have them set to be open automatically every time I open Firefox.
  17. Me too. But if I never sign out from this site, then the next day, when I come here again I'm already signed on. (I use Firefox, too). Doesn't it work that way for you?
  18. Every time I open this site I'm already signed in because I never sign out.
  19. For the ultimate in quiet, you can't beat a Co2 tank, it's totally silent. The drawback is lugging the thing back to get it refilled every so often. If you don't need absolute quiet, get a small tankless "silent" compressor. They're not literally silent, but they're quiet enough where they probably wouldn't disturb anyone. I have an Iwata, and when it's running it's about as loud as an electric can opener.
  20. That's exactly why I didn't want to tell you. I may want to use some others in the future...
  21. If you add up the digits in 11-11-11, you get 6. Divide 6 by itself and you get 1, which is the only digit in 11-11-11! Oooooooooh, scary!
  22. Living where you do, I'm surprised that you even have neighbors!
  23. Looks like you've figured out a system...
