  1. I say bring back everything Johan ever did!
  2. Yeah, you don't see a lot of NASCAR racers with chrome-plated rear view mirrors! I say go for it! Paint your car that way and watch the stares you get on the street.
  3. That woodie wagon looks suspiciously like a Danbury Mint model...
  4. Hmmmmm..... looks like I'm a little late to this party; I just saw this thread! Another cool project, John. You just keep on hitting them out of the park!
  5. Man, I hear ya! I have models that have been... ummm.... "in progress" for 20+ years.
  6. Yes, we are. It doesn't get much worse than Illinois politics. Kinda makes me wonder why I haven't moved far away from here by now...
  7. Since they claim it won't yellow, my guess is that it's clear acrylic.
  8. And now please take apart each grammar mistake I have written.
  9. I'm pretty sure it would have the manufacturer's name on it somewhere.
  10. Do me a favor and fling a few stones toward that Capitol building. Maybe you can knock some sense into our esteemed Illinois politicians...
  11. OCD is obsessive-compulsive disorder. Not to be confused with COD, which is a shipping term... or a species of fish...
  12. I can't believe the guy got zero bids. I mean, come on! He was throwing in the shipping for free!
  13. True enough... so far it's too early to take back Einstein's genius card. But if it turns out to be true, a whole lotta science books are going to need some re-writing.
  14. Einstein's Theory of Relativity... the bedrock of physics... has recently been proven false! Neutrinos were sent from a site in Switzerland to a site in Italy, and they traveled faster than the speed of light, which sort of blows a hole in Einstein's theory. And maybe revokes his "genius" card... A guy walks into a bra...
  15. I'm not intending to make fun of anyone's problem, so please take this in the spirit it was intended (humor)... this topic reminds me of a funny Groucho Marx quote: What do you get if you cross an agnostic, an insomniac and a dyslexic? A guy who stays up all night wondering if there really is a dog!
  16. Aside from the background, I think one or two of those photos would have fooled some people.
  17. Those models look like the real thing! Only the background gives it away...
  18. You're playing the wrong game. Auto ID Quiz is next week...
  19. Actually, the reason I came up with the "Scratchbuilding School" feature in the magazine is because scratchbuilding is, to me, what modeling is all about on a basic level. I mean, yeah, we can all put together a kit, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with building models using only the parts that someone else made... but to me, taking things to the proverbial "next level" means making my own parts. Scratchbuilding. That's where the real beauty of modeling comes into play, IMO.
  20. I love a man who's honest!
  21. Scratchbuilding and detailing.
  22. Hey George... I keep telling myself I'll get it right one day...
  23. Paint. No doubt. I have been building models my whole life (well... minus the obligatory 20-year break for girls/dating/marriage/kids ). I consider myself a very good builder. I can scratchbuild and I can detail well enough to go head to head with anyone. But when it comes to laying down a smooth, glossy, killer paint job, I'm still a long way from where I wish I was.
  24. It depends on your definition of "automobile." The first cars, as we generally define them (self-propelled, internal combustion-powered) date from the 1880s, including Duryea and Benz, but there are examples of much earlier "cars," if you broaden the definition to include steam power. We can go all the way back to the 1700s... http://www.supercars.net/cars/3603.html
