  1. If you scale DOWN an image you don't lose quality. It's when you ENLARGE an image that you lose quality.
  2. Not bad for coming back after a 30 year "vacation!" By the way... the photos aren't bad at all... no need to apologize for them.
  3. Nothing "old fashioned" about respect and courtesy. Our society today could use a lot more of those "old fashioned" values if you ask me...
  4. Whether you're living in a cottage or the big house, living on a country estate sounds nice!
  5. Welcome aboard, Dave... you've come to the right place...
  6. Remember... to get it right I need year, make and model. Send your answers to me via PM or to harrypri@att.net... do not post your answer (or any hints) here! This one should be pretty easy... The answer: 1956 Studebaker Transtar
  7. How is the driver going to toot his horn???
  8. What is it about lacquers that leaves you "unimpressed?" Some lacquers dry with a satin finish, not a high gloss, and they need to be either rubbed out or clearcoated, but otherwise what's not to like about lacquers? They go on smooth, they go on thin and don't hide surface details, and they dry fast! Same with acrylics. Personally, enamels are the one paint I try to stay away from... I've had much better results with lacquers or hybrids... nothing but headaches with enamels, mostly the fact that they take forever to dry, and even then they're not fully dry. I've heard of thinning enamels with lacquer thinner to get the best of both worlds, but I've never tried that.
  9. I wonder what Jay Leno would say? He probably owns a Packard or two...
  10. Where can I get the kit? Sign me up!!! Hey... add a continental kit out back and you'd be stylin'!!!
  11. But these were flashy cars... they were bought because the owners wanted the "look at me" factor... so I think a flashy color scheme would be more in character. I'd bet that most of these cars were painted in pretty vivid shades back in the day. Don't know if this one is the original color, but the vivid blue looks right at home on this car.
  12. Here's one all decked out for Halloween! Looks pretty cool...
  13. Nice! I like FCs from that era... when the bodies still looked pretty much like the car they were "supposed" to be. Today's funny cars don't have any character... they all look alike.
  14. I like the brick, and the "old time" garage door. Gives a cool old-time look, like a garage that was built even before "horseless carriages" came along!
  15. At the upper right of the page is a drop-down menu (where your screen name is). Select "My Profile," then click on "Edit My Profile" (at the upper right of the page). On that page you can add your name so that it shows under your avatar, and if you click on the "Change Signature" link at the upper left, you can add your name to your signature.
  16. Judging from your very first two posts, I'd say you have some major talent! Nice designs, clean technique, ultra slick paint... looks like you have it all together...
  17. Holy cow!!! That is one smooth custom! Very nicely done...
  18. It means just what it says... they're expanding fast, and need another source to do outputting of parts.
  19. Ok, guys, this has gone on about as long as I'm willing to let it go on. Some of you have made posts here that are way out of line and go far beyond "constructive criticism" and into bashing territory. Just remember... Nick is 14. He's a KID. You have to remember that when you judge his building abilities and his character. He's a "work in progress" on both counts, and I think a little more understanding and a little less bashing would have been the wiser choice, especially since all of the posters on this thread are much older than 14. For those of you who offered actual constructive criticism and advice, thank you. For those of you who decided to come down on him, you really shouldn't have done that. We were all 14 once... remember???
  20. How's this project going? Any updates?
  21. Very unique and very cool! But dang, man... that model just cries out for a two-tone paint scheme...
  22. Here's another Voisin, a C20. Pretty funky, if I do say so myself. Voisins were definitely "different"...
  23. So... apparently we have a convention of the Association of Potty Mouths here on this thread! Ok guys, I just had to edit about 20 posts here. You all know the rule about swearing on the forum. So why are you doing it? Do you all need the rule rewritten in smaller words so you all can understand it? I have better things to do than go through all of your posts and edit them. Either post without swearing or don't post at all. And if you keep on doing it, I'll take care of your language problems here permanently.
  24. An Italian, A Scotsman and a Chinese guy were working together at a construction site. The foreman motioned them over and says to the Scotsman: " I want you to shovel that pile of sand into this wheelbarrow and dump it over there." To the Italian he says: "After the sand is moved I want you to sweep up the rest of it so the site is clean." And to the Chinese man he says: "And you're in charge of the supplies." About an hour later the foreman comes back to the site and sees that the sand pile is still untouched. He motions the Scotsman and the Italian over to him. "What's going on here?," the foreman asks. "I told you guys to clean up that pile of sand!" The Scotsman replies: "Aye, ye did lad, bit I could nae find a shovel! Ye left the wee Chinese mannie in charge of supplies, but I could nae fin' him anywhar." The Italian chimes in: "I no hava no broom, you saida to the Chinese guy that he wasa in charge of supplies, but he hasa disappear and I no coulda finda him nowhere." The foreman turns and walks toward the pile of sand, looking for the Chinese guy. Suddenly the Chinese guy jumps out from behind the sand pile and yells "Supplies!!!"
