  1. I think a psychological exam would be in order...
  2. How about reviving it? Maybe you would have better luck than the previous guys...
  3. But it probably tastes pretty good...
  4. Sorry... I forgot the poll! It's there now...
  5. The thing that makes Testors orange tube glue work is that it contains a solvent, toluene, that partially melts and fuses styrene plastic together. The blue tube stuff, in order to be called "non-toxic", basically eliminates the toxic part (the toluene, the ingredient that makes the glue work) and substitutes citric acid instead. In other words, the blue tube stuff is missing the very ingredient (toluene) that makes the orange tube stuff work! Bottom line: the blue tube stuff can't possibly work as well as the orange tube stuff.
  6. You're comparing apples and oranges here. In all pro sports, the teams are made up of the "best of the best"... but the playoffs or the championships aren't invitation-only. Everyone gets a shot. Imagine if MLB announced that the 2010 World Series will be played by the Yankees and the Phillies, no other teams need apply. I know that's not exactly a head-to-head analogy either... but I guess I just don't like the idea of an "invitation-only" contest. It seems so snobby and elitist. Maybe the fact that the thing sort of fizzled out without ever happening tells us something?
  7. No... just the smartest one...
  8. Ok, another Monday morning meeting for me, so once again we start a day earlier. Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
  9. Paint the dash either body color or to match the rest of the interior. But gray? Where did that come from??? (maybe the top of the dash in body color, the rest to match the interior color)...
  10. Here's a little helpful hint: Toss the tube glue altogether. Use liquid cement, available from various manufacturers. It's the cleanest way to build. You apply the cement to the joint with a small brush (some brands have a brush built into the cap)... capillary action draws the cement into the seam. No more glue smears, stringy glue, etc. Definitely a step up from old-fashioned "tube glue."
  11. I've never heard of a contest that's only open to certain "invited" participants. Talk about the ultimate in snobbery! And like Jeff pointed out, the very idea of a list of people "worthy" enough to be invited sounds like nothing but elitism. How does an event like that do anything to further the hobby? It's just the opposite... it's saying "we only care about the people we think are good enough to participate, screw the rest of you." What kind of an attitude is that? A bad idea, if you ask me...
  12. I'll try to use a photo that's a little harder to guess next time...
  13. The only thing missing is a guy on a surfboard...
  14. Ummm... why is the dash gray??? Is it still in primer or is that the final color? Cuz if it is, you made a mistake!
  15. Dave, I like the wide whites. Very old school classy...
  16. I just deleted my answer... maybe I was too quick!
  17. If you didn't say anything we would never have known...
  18. IMO, the "funnest" part of this place is the variety of members we have. Quite a collection of characters... every kind of personality you can think of, from the best master builders to the wackiest characters you're likely to find anywhere... all in one place, all hanging out together, and all for free!
  19. Yeah, I'm watchin'... I'm always watchin'...
  20. I love 60s-70s MOPARS! They are what muscle cars were all about... nobody did them better. Nice color choice, it looks great with the white stripe.
  21. As long as you post the link like you did, that's fine, too. Your link takes you right to the picture...
  22. Google to the rescue!
  23. I've heard just the opposite... that Alclad is pretty flimsy and easily rubs off. I've never used it, but that's what I've heard and read. I still say if you want a dull aluminum finish you're better off using "aluminum" paint. 99 cents a can from Walmart. Or Metalizers. I'd save the Alclad for where you want a "chrome-like" finish. But that's just me... hey, it's your money!
  24. Alclad is expensive! If you just want a dull aluminum color, use Testors Metalizer aluminum, or any aluminum spray paint... from Walmart, even. Why waste the expensive Alclad if you don't need a "chrome" finish???
  25. It's a Buick... which I guess is sort of an upscale Malibu.
