Your car looks great Fred. I love your choice of wheels, and that engine looks dynamite.

Boy this must be the season for people to be working on '53 Fords... I think this is the 3rd one I've seen in progress or finished in the last few weeks... and I also happen to have started working on one about 3 weeks ago. I'm not happy with the kit engine and didn't want to create a mini project by switching to a later model Ford engine from another kit (you know how it is... you change ONE thing, and then you wind up having to change SIX other things...) I wasn't in the mood for a long project, so I'm doing a Curbside sort of mild custom... Not trying to rob your thread here Fred.... Just commenting on how many '53 Fords are in the works here.... I'll hopefully post pics of my own build soon.

Lets See Your Replicas of Yours/Your Families Cars
Ramfins59 replied to Platerpants's topic in Model Cars
The first car that my wife and i got when we were married and moved from the Bronx,NY to Long Island, NY was a 1967 Ford Galaxy that we bought from my Aunt for $300 in 1975. These are the only pictures I have of the 1:1 car... Here are some pictures of the model I made with the help of a dear, departed friend. It started out as a '67 Galaxy convertible, and it converted to a 4 door with the hardtop from the '65 Galaxy. -
Revell '50 Oldsmobile Club Coupe 2'n1
Ramfins59 replied to styromaniac's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
This looks pretty sweet. I think this is the first coupe or hardtop kit I've ever seen that comes with visors as separate pieces. The engine we know will be robbed for a whole lot of hot rods... Personally, I love the roses on the decal sheet. I know that I'll be picking up at least a couple of these... -
Lookin' for a '51 or '52 Ford F1 grille

Modelhaus does make both a '51 and '52 Ford front bumper and grille. -
Three River Automodelers Show and Contest.
Ramfins59 replied to 3riverfan's topic in Contests and Shows
Only a week to go.... James2, I don't believe that this is an IPMS Show... Nothing in the show flyer indicates that, however there is a Miscellaneous Class in which I'll assume might allow for non-automotive models. I'm sure one of the Three Rivers guys will chime in here on this. -
I'd like to see this in an AMT tin :
Ramfins59 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cool.... This makes me want to work on the AMT '36 Ford kit I picked up a couple of years ago.... Hmmmm.... The chopped top.... MCG photo-etched '36 Ford grille.... Hollywood flipper caps from the Revell '48 Ford.... Teardrop skirts.... What color...??? Red.... Purple.... White....???? Like I need another project... -
That's looking good Walt.

Great job David. The '58 Chevy is one of my all time favorite cars, and this Revell kit really does it justice.... I love all the chrome side trim as separate pieces because this car is a bear to foil.
-
Great tip Dave. I'll remember that when it comes time to "strain my stripper".... Doesn't sound right does it...???
-
Yeah I remember when those little bottles of paint were 10 cents at a Woolworth's 5 & 10 cent store back in the Bronx, NY when I was growing up. .... and model kits were $1.49....... when the AMT "Double kits" were a mere $2.00.

Congratulations on a well deserved award. I think that as long as you don't enter the model in the same contests again you'll be OK. Keep up the great work.

Are you gonna upgrade the brakes on this beast to discs, or, at least go with a dual bowl master cyl....??? The only reason I'm asking is...... I had a '59 Dodge Coronet about 10 years ago and the rear brake line broke while i was doing 60 MPH and heading into a traffic circle... Fortunately I didn't hit anyone or anything and I got the car up on the grass and coasted to a stop... Lost ALL brakes because I had a single bowl master cyl.... That was the absolute scariest minute of my life...!!!

thank you all
Ramfins59 replied to jerseyjunker1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My most sincere condolences to you Manny. As the father of two grown up daughters I just cannot imagine the pain of your loss... If prayers help, they are for your daughter and yourself and family. -
I've found that Street Rodder and Custom Rodder, Collectible Automobile, Ol' Skool Rods, etc., are good for reference pictures. I cut out pics of the cars that I really like and keep them in a folder for reference ideas. I also like books like Custom Cars of the 50's & 60's by Andy Southard to have great reference pictures. As you can tell, I like Street Rods and Customs, but look through the magazine rack at Barnes & Noble, etc., for other magazines for reference pictures.

That really does look great Gluhead. Nice job on everything so far. -
Steve, this has to be one of the most beautiful models that I have ever seen...!!! My hat is off to you sir..!! I absolutely LOVE your interior work... can you tell me how you glued the painted wire piping to the seats...??? I've used Detail Wire for upholstery piping in some of my models, but the painted wire that you used looks soooooo GREAT. Keep up the fantastic work Steve.

kind of confused on this over-segmentation
Ramfins59 replied to jbwelda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As has been said above a couple of times, I always click on the "view new content" so I get to see EVERYTHING NEW THAT HAS BEEN POSTED SINCE I LAST SIGNED IN... Seems simple enough to me... but what do I know.
