  1. Replicas & Miniatures of MD makes a package of brake master cylinders.... single bowl, dual bowl, boosters... picture follows.....
  2. Awesome work, as always John... A quick question if you don't mind... Why didn't you use Brass Metalizer paint for the grille shell and headlights, etc., instead of the clear yellow that you used...???
  3. My finished builds go into glass display cabinets in my model area down in my basement...
  4. Forgive me if this sounds like bragging...... as that is NOT how it is meant...... I've had my share of both winning awards and having models pictured in magazines over the past 20 years...... Having a model pictured in a magazine is to me is far better than winning an award...... even though winning an award is pretty cool.
  5. Yeah I just wanted to reiterate that the LIARS Model Car Challenge Show for 2012 has been cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy's water damage, lack of power and just an overall general mess. The Freeport Recreation Center has already been booked for the 2013 show. Apologies to all who planned to attend, but I'm sure all will understand due to the circumstances. Prayers and best wishes to all who were affected by the storm.
  6. You can try emailing the LIARS Club "unofficial official", Rich Argus at R.Argus@Juno.com and I'm sure that he will be able to answer any questions you may have.
  7. Yeah guys... All you 40's and younger folks sure will be surprised how nature treats you in......oh......say another 20 or so years...... True I've had my share of liquid libations over the years and I still have a fondness for a couple of good cold ones now and then, and an occasional visit from good ol' Jack D. or Captain Morgan.... Back through the early 70's and into the 80's (until my kids came along) I also had my share of various "substances" Fortunately I lived through it all and didn't let either booze or drugs either ruin, or run, my life...... At 53 I had a series of (fortunately) mild strokes because I didn't take care of myself properly up to that time. At 65 I still enjoy a few drinks now and then but nowhere near the quantity or frequency that I did years ago.... as has been said above...... I hate hangovers, and, they seem to last longer the older you get. I find myself enjoying a midday nap occasionally, and also have a problem with sleeping through the night...... my doctor calls it... Insomnia... who knew..?? I sleep for 2 or 3 hours and I'm up... another 2 or 3 hours... and I'm up again... As we age I guess we all have to just "go with the flow" and realize that we can't live it up like we did in our younger days, we have to use moderation and common sense. I do find that I have more patience in the modeling hobby now than I did 50 years ago...
  8. Charlie, I realize that what I called wood "paper" IS actually wood... like a small sheet of a wood veneer...... It's just that it's so thin that I called it wood paper. JB, my cousin smokes cigars and gave me a whole cigar box full of these wood sheets about 4 years ago... he saves them for me. I don't actually know which cigars he smokes, but I know some of them are a little pricey.
  9. A suggestion or "tip" re doing woodgrain panels on a Woody..... (Note to Moderators: Sorry if this is in the "wrong place" but since the subject of woodgraining detail on a Woody was brought up) I thought I'd post this "suggestion" here: If you, or any of your friends, smoke cigars (Dr. Cranky), there are some cigars that come in an aluminum tube with a screw on top. Inside the tube, wrapped around the cigar is a small sheet of wood veneer "paper". It is curled around the cigar to keep the cigar "fresh" for a period of time... If you can get some of this wood veneer paper, wet it and put it between the pages of a thick phone book or something similar so when it dries it will lay flat. Then, take the woodgrain decals that come with the Woody model, and cut them out without leaving much of the clear carrier "edge" around the decal... in other words, try to trim the woodgrain decal to fit into the panel it is supposed to go into on the Woody sides as perfectly as possible. Then lay, or tape the decal on top of the dried, flattened woodgrain paper veneer and cut around the decal with a pair of scissors or a VERY SHARP XActo knife so you have a piece of woodgrain veneer paper the exact size as the decal to fit into the panel on the Woody model (at this point the woodgrain paper is very brittle so be careful that it doesn't start falling apart on you.). Then, after painting the wood framing around the insert panels and letting it dry, "paint" a thin layer of diluted white glue in the recessed panel and insert the piece of woodgrain veneer paper and gently press it down so the white glue will hold it in place. Let it dry completely, then you can either coat it with clear enamel or just spray a clearcoat over the whole model, and the woodgrain will "pop" like it has a coat of varnish. Here are some pictures of a "48 Ford Woody that I built about 10 years ago using this method. The wood veneer paper is great to use for dashboards, consoles, door panels, floors, etc....
  10. OK Rob, as I said in my second PM, the steins are in my mailbox to be picked up by my mail person tomorrow... Hopefully you'll have them by the weekend. I look forward to seeing them in your build. Happy modeling.
  11. As I said in my PM Rob, the steins will be on the way to you in a day or so... Keep up your great work on this project.... I'm loving it.
  12. OK Rob, I just went and took what is hopefully a better pic of the beer steins... Let me know... Do you also need a barrel for the "Yo Ho Ho & a Barrel of Rum"....???
  13. Rob, here's a picture of the beer steins with some other "geegaws" I posted on another thread. The chrome steins are at the bottom of the picture. Hopefully you can make them out OK. If not, let me know and I'll try to get a better picture on here, and, if you still need one, PM me your snail mail address & I'll get one to you.
  14. John... You are one SICK man with your details............ Sick in a fantastically GOOD way... You continually blow us all away with your outstanding work. Hats off to you sir...!!!
  15. Arrr matey... This project is sooooo cool. I absolutely love your work on the interior. Did you find a beer stein yet..?? I don't have a beer stein shifter, but I happen to have a couple of chrome beer steins...!!! How about an eye patch over one headlight...??? A pirate sword grille...(Use a little hors d'ouvre sword party pick)...??? Either a flintlock pistol or a blunderbuss somewhere..(tough to find items in scale I guess)...??? A parrot perched on the back of the seat...??? A small Jolly Roger flag on the end of an antenna with a tiny Crow's Nest at the top...??? Can you tell that you've got my imagination working here...???
  16. I don't think that they are actually supposed to represent a taillight from any specific car... Seems like they're just supposed to be "custom taillights as it says.
  17. Thanks Jim... Is the SHINY thing your standard response...??? LOL
  18. OK, this thread has been so much fun to read and look at, that I had to go dig out my stash of what I call my "Diorama Junk" and take some pictures... Here we go... First up is furniture & appliance pieces, and a Bar-B-Q with gas tank that I've been accumulating for an imagined Moving Truck load. I planned on building the Ford Louisville Truck but have just not gotten around to it yet... Next picture shows all the appliances with their respective doors open... The painted resin 1/25 scale woman is in the picture to show the size of the items... Next are a briefcase, suitcase, large mouse figure, bowling bag, hat box, violin case, & guns. Next are Gangster figures, whiskey bottles in boxes, cans, barrels, jugs, steins & more guns... Next up is a wooden table with a "Babe", a box of tissues, a case of beer & some bourbon (She's ready to party...!!!), some assorted gas cans, a box, a hand truck, a winch, a vise, a pair of bolt cutters, a floor jack and an anvil on a wood log that I didn't glue together.. Now this is a small toy set of gas pumps that is close to 1/25 scale, but will probably need some work to look more realistic... This is a Coke Machine from a '50 Chevy Pickup, and a Camper insert for the back of a pickup truck... I don't remember where I got that from, and I don't know when I'll use it... Finally, this is a set of 1/24 scale, diecast garage diorama accessories that I've had for years. There is a small & large tool chest, a stand up compressor, welding tanks, an arc welder, a battery charger with battery and an engine stand. I have one of the Fujimi Garage 3/4 buildings, and a Joe's Garage Diorama kit that I've been wanting to put all this stuff in...... Whenever I get around to working on that large of a diorama.... Something that big would be a pain to store and keep the dust off down in my basement model area.
  19. OK. I finally got some paint on this puppy (Duplicolor Night Shadow)... I applied a blue & white Rose decal to the spare tire housing on the trunk. I got the decal from some Nail Art decals that my daughter didn't want for her fake nails. I also added a small light blue pinstripe decal to the hood, and then I clearcoated it withDuplicolor Acrylic Clear. Looks like it will only need minimal polishing before assembly. I'm working on the interior (blue & white). This is a curbside so there will be no engine or chassis detail. I finally got back to this after a couple of days of stewing over my sewer problems. I'll give the clearcoat a couple of days to dry completely and I'll polish it, apply BMF, and do final assembly. Thanks for looking everyone.
  20. Hey Ron, looks like you could run a rummage sale for TV's & stuffed animals... LOL
  21. That is pretty darn impressive. What a talented and creative mind he has to use such diverse items to create awesome pictures of nature's wonders.
  22. This project looks very cool Michael.
  23. The Modelhaus makes a '56, '57 & '59 Dodge, all in resin.
  24. Yeah I have that AMT Parts Pack with the TV camera, tripod, lights, speaker, broom, etc... The stuff looks cool but I don't know when I'll ever use them. Got the guns & violin case, bottles & barrels & stuff from the Gangbusters Lincoln. Bowling bag, suitcase, hat box from the Rambler wagon, bunches of tools from the '34 Ford Pickup & '53 Ford Pickup, TV's & Tape Recorders, tool boxes, welding tanks, coolers, skateboard, surf boards, gas & oil cans, fire extinguishers, couple of "stuffed animals, All this stuff is in a box with other pieces I've been accumulating over the years which are all very close to 1/24 - 1/25 scale like a couch, easy chair, table, gas grill, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher. Some of them were refrigerator magnet items that I removed the magnets from. I was planning on using most or all of the stuff as a moving truck load using the Ford Louisville Truck... Just never got around to it yet.
  25. Thanks Art...!!! That means I'll have to buy backhoe and a dump truck models plus materials to do at least part of the house and garage.... Then there's all that gravel material, and Plastruct tubing for the PVC piping, and figures (at least the fat backhoe guy, and me standing there gawking at the mess...!!! Even though it's a great idea, I'll keep it "on the back burner" for now. Hope all is well with you.
