  1. Great job on both Lanny. I really like the truck.
  2. Thanks guys. Nie, that's just the way that the decals came out from my HP ink jet printer... at least you can read them. The really small resized ones are very hard to read, but you can tell who's Logos they are.
  3. Awesome custom work Jason.
  4. I've had an idea bouncing around in my head for many years to do a NASCAR model but just a bit different. I pictured one with only model car manufacturer and model car aftermarket company sponsor Logos. When the NNL East guys handed out their 30th Anniversary decal sheets at last years show, I knew I had to finally do it. I'm using the Moebius '56 Chrysler 300B kit and I painted the body Tamiya Pure White. The window trim and front & rear emblems were BMF'd. I cut out various Logos from model magazines and glued them to a sheet of blank paper. That sheet was then scanned into my computer and printed on blank decal paper from my LHS. I sprayed the decal sheet with Duplicolor clearcoat so the printer ink wouldn't run when I put the decals in water. My friend Tom also resized some of the Logos to a smaller size to be used in a grouping behind the front wheels. It took me about 8 hours to cut out and apply all of the individual Logo decals and the NNL East anniversary decals neatly to the body. Now I know why I never wanted to build any NASCAR models...... too many decals..!!! Here's how the body looks at the moment. I still have to build the rest of the car. I glued the hood shut so this will be a Curbside car. I'll use the Hemi engine on some future project. Hopefully I'll get it done in time for the NNL East show's Theme Class. Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated...
  5. For me it depends on the particular model that I'm building. If it's a Curbside model or promo I won't go crazy with money on it. Sometimes the promos will need replacement grille & bumpers or an interior or glass. If I can get them from Modelhaus I will. I'll add mirrors and antennas and whitewall tires that I'll scrounge from my parts stash. When I'm in the mood for a full-tilt detailed model, usually either a Factory Stock, Custom or Street Rod, that's where the expenses start to add up, but those don't happen all the time.
  6. Wow... Older musicians are dropping like flies... Thankfully I'm an old guy who is still here...
  7. Yes, as has been said, being an old retired guy with a lot of time on my hands means that my model building "season" never really ends. It may slow down now and then, but it never really ends.
  8. I go to my LHS (Hobby Express in Cranberry Twp.) and usually just buy paints, glues, plastic supplies, etc. I occasionally get a model there too but I usually order my model kits online because I'll order several different kits at once and even with shipping it comes out cheaper than the LHS kit prices. I buy diecasts and hard-to-find promos on EBAY with free shipping whenever possible.
  9. I've got about 150 built, some of which are older and are packed away. I have at least another 150 unbuilt and that pile just keeps on growing.
  10. Absolutely excellent work.
  11. Great minds think alike John. One at a time works for me, along with the "clean and organized" thing.
  12. That is looking good Mile.
  13. Nice job Al. You took your time on this one...... Took 6 days instead of 6 hours.
  14. Welcome to our plastic playground Matteo.
  15. Welcome to our plastic playground Chip.
  16. Welcome to our plastic playground Michael. May your son return home safely from Afghanistan.
  17. Looking forward to the show on Sunday.
  18. Same here Dave. The pictures are not "in focus" and it looks more Pink than Lavender.
  19. That is a great subject Curt. I would love to find either a '53 or '54 Lincoln for my 1950's car collection.
  20. When you open up the Forum, to the lower right of the screen it says that the total number of members is 15,736. Man that is a lot of members...!!! For the last couple of months I have been looking at the member's info for each one having a birthday each day. It seems that the majority of members have less than 100 postings on the Forum, and, haven't been on the Forum for 2, 3, or 4 years...!!! I'm wondering if they lost interest either in the hobby, or just this Forum? Did the occasional trolls and/or flame wars drive them away? Did "life" get in the way of all of them and they no longer have time for the hobby and Forum? Are a lot of them no longer with us (literally and figuratively)? I know a lot of the Forum's members, like myself, are retired and have more free time to devote to the hobby and spend time on the Forum. My questions are sort of rhetorical. I'm just wondering...
  21. Thanks again for that info Tom. I ordered one yesterday. Now I'll have to pick up another Coupe kit.
  22. Welcome to our plastic playground Nathan.
  23. Thanks for the heads-up Tom...... I'll check it out.
  24. Welcome to our plastic playground Michael.
