Lindburgh 1/12th fiat
regular guy replied to willieman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks. Getting into the every conceivable aspect to these things really is not for me. And probably 98% of the mankind. It has a high gloss. Boom.Done. Going to look at the Exterminator. Can't quite remember gloss deal but it is high quality molding. All in all. Good values. Maybe the Bullhorn T is high quality too. -

Some old business here. Lindberg models is spelled Lindberg. Charles Lindbergh the flyer is spelled this way. Limburger cheese is something else.Lindburgh could be a name somewhere. The molding on our Fiat is impressive. The body has a high gloss that I have only seen on the large scale T. Must be some kind of premium process they can do when they want to. New Serpent might be that way. -
Here's Kustomorama link about it. Further down page is surprise! The Tiger Shark! https://kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Car_Craft_Dream_Rod They are my kind of nuts over there. They know what they are looking at when they see these cars. Here's image of Tiger Rod.The real one.

Thanks Dale Look's like it was originally the Car Craft Dream Rod by Bill Cushenberry. Here's a zippier box cover. I think Tiger Shark wss a redo of the dream rod. Sort of an updating.
-
Take note it says MPC. Versions for years have been AMT ones. Box art is better than picture of built model on my AMT version. Here's link to it at Autoworld. http://www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/mpc876.htm Looks like same parts as previous versions. So news is at least they put it out. I think of Tiger Rod as sort of sister car to Silhouette.

' Make of it what you will. Certainly not garbage' Frame is a reworked Kurtis Kraft frame. Probably more likely made from scratch using Kurtis as guide. http://www.forgottenfiberglass.com/technical/chassis-up-guys-get-yours-while-they-last-the-1953-kurtis-500-kk-frame-hop-up-october-1953/ Yes. Same kind of frame is used in Diamond Duster that was also SC 101 roadster. We own the kit and it is very high quality molding. -
AMT Corvettes 3 Complete Kits Review
regular guy replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
' They are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT KITS. ' Third time somebody has said that. HOW HOW HOW are they different? Besides being different brands. Let's say the one in this box is a stock build.(it will be here in an hour or two) How is the MPC different please? I looked and the MPC 57 Corvettes on Ebay look more or less like AMT Street Machine.AMT has snorkel hood(looks lame) and MPC has just the opening . -
AMT Corvettes 3 Complete Kits Review

' 2 completely different kits ' What makes them different? Looked at AMT kits while I'm waiting and AMT has 'stamped steel' full wheelcovers. There was also a lot of Sreet Machine versions. I don't think that is in this package. -
' "Car Kit News" That sounds fair too. We will improve ourselves. Wait a minute.Title did not say whether it was news or a review! Fixed title anyhow. They could have made this kit 'All original parts restored'. SEEMS to be missing the horizontal quads. Probably some other parts too. Hello AMT! Nest time create the missing parts please.
-
Thanks! Okay.Sounds fair. Will work on accuracy.
-
' To review something you should have one in your possession.' Why? Is it going to be somehow different than two or three we do get a year? That was three posts to get to your point. No more. You just go on without me.
-
Beats me. Once again I think I see where you're headed. Could you do me a big favor? Just say what you want one time please.
-
Sooo.Bobthehobbyguy.What are you talking about now? Do I want to know what you're talking about? Will it make my life fuller and more rewarding? Let's see.

' You may have "worked hard" on your 'review'' What's up with that? Here's what I said. ' Back then they worked hard to get that $1.99 out of customer.' Somebody brought up the Revell version that looked like a stock car.As I remember it. Okay. This AMT has a drag or gasser version. Anybody turned an AMT into a stock car? I better put AMT '57 Ford in here. There! Ford would have to wait until '58 for the new generation engines.

AMT Corvettes 3 Complete Kits Review
regular guy replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
' Ebay photo looks like the prior version' That is from listing we bought today. No! AMT will never bring back 3 complete kits. ' the MPC '57, not the AMT' How does that make a difference? This says it has about 110 parts so it is no MPC '60 6in1.Kinda figure that. -
AMT Corvettes 3 Complete Kits Review
regular guy replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Casey 5 star answer! Thank you. Brown! Wow! Oh goodie! First kit for us in anything except white and grey.AMT wise. Comparing this 3 complete kit to Chevy version. Yeah. The Chevy has 145 parts each kit. Just got the Corvettes this time around. Does the '63 have an engine stand for extra V8 engine? We're putting the 427 in. -

' Look here' That proboard looks like some serious modelers over there. Thanks for that link. Could somebody say in regular words what the other 30 or so parts are please? Look like cool Kelsey Hayes wheels for one. What color plastic are these 3 cars in this kit molded in? Grey, grey and grey would be nice. -

' I believe they have to be painted ' Oh no Mr Bill!' That's okay. What are the 30 some extra parts for the '53? Guy in Manhattan Beach used to thrash one of these back and forth to work in the 80's. -
' The Flashback reissue retains the vertical quad housings. ' That is very cool of AMT to dig that up. Check out the 'Edsel inspired' custom car grill. Not too shabby. Betcha most builder's today avoid those parts like the plague. List them on Ebay for $5.99
-
' There was never any optional hood in the Ford kit ' Looks like a Styline hood to me./The purple car on the left. If that is all done with the front clip and the hood is stock 'Well.Excuse me!' I don't live on the Planet Perfectus. Plus it says 'steerable' wheels.Yeah.They probably mean 'posable'. But that was pre 'Smart phone' Exact Brainitis. If it not a 1 for 1 matchup 'Duh!? What do you mean?'
-
' The Quad Headlight parts are all the in the latest release of the '57. I've seen them ' Tell it to the guy at Autoworld that told me. What do you want me to do?Buy a kit?Take pictures of all the parts? I put some effort into it to help a forum member. There's limits to everything.
-
' Don't attach the wheels' You know it's unsafe to work on a car using cinder blocks for jackstands? ' I couldn't find a way to get the steering wheel to attach ' Grind the end of shaft square or slot. Then heat steering wheel and press on as far as possible without showing through top. Also.Get everything to move as frictionless or free as possible. Take load off splined steering wheel.
