  1. Early 60's AMT paint cans in the box with kit. That's what's missing from these nostalgia kits! Best match up now is Testors lacquer.Lots of good colors. Wild altereds. Saw some old ad's for Revell kit's like Ed Roth Bantam Bomber and Studebaker Miss Deal. Those were the kits to get in that era. AMT comes close to that with Jawbreaker. You have to build it right to get that 'thrown together' look. Because that's the way those cars were. They were built to do just one thing. So they were not real stylish. Box art AMT MPC. That's a tough go for them. I myself have come around to checking for any box art or real race cars or custom cars on the net. AMT works hard to put something on the box but really the modeler has to get himself motivated to build 'that car'.
  2. ' '63 Ford Galaxie 500 hardtop: has a base with a pen-holder built in.' The pen holder base was supposed to be to build the kit and give it to somebody as a give. Primarily a 'father-son' activity. You build it and give it to your Dad. A wise move.Considering Dad was how you got your kit's on the Saturday morning shopping trip.
  3. You're on your own with what your saying. Have fun!
  4. Sort of figured that was what you were up to. Have fun!
  5. Tom Cognotti's T is one of the all time big time AMT kits. That and XR6, Wilhelm's Wonder and the Ala Kart. Look's like it's spelled with a T. It's a '22 or '23. It's a full fendered custom car.You can make something close out an AMT '25 double kit. Here's a pic.
  6. No.Those names are for the complete Model T, Model A and '32 Ford sets. The ones with all the versions AMT made in a set. They are overdue to reissue '32 Phaeton too. They should put out the classics every 5 years.Maybe every three or 4.
  7. ' little car show trophies ' Another great idea! They could call them Championship Sets or Trophy Winner sets. Back to the '32 Ford Phaeton and '27 Ford T Touring. That T Touring is way overdue for reissue. It would fill the spot until they reissue Tom Cognotti's T coupe. The open cars are real nostalgia kits even in custom and hot rod versions.
  8. ' could sell them in plastic bags ' Let me say AMT has been doing good serving the Experienced Modeler,Advanced Modeler, Pro Modeler. What ever you want to call them. Witness the Exclusive Hippie Hemi molded in metallic and in a flat box. As far as plastic bag items. Since Round 2 took over I've seen two bagged items for sale. Molded in see through blue Hippie Hemi body and something else. I say 'if they find it.Bag it up and put it on the website!' They could probably find over 100 interesting sets to put up there. I think it is a mindset.Put out complete kits or nothing. Experienced modelers can figure out what to do with extra parts. They are not going to ge Duh? Then glue them to the roof.
  9. ' '32 Roadster, Coupe, Sedan, Touring, and Victoria all together as a set in one box ' That's a great idea! They could call it Pro Modeler Set or recycle the Pro Shop label.Prestige? They could use a '29 set too.Just like current but throw in Ala Kart and pickup and a woody. '27 T set too or all the T's.'23, '25 and '27.Include the C cab and pickup. Could call them the Collector's Set. Good idea! '
  10. ' I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those changes to happen ' I think there is an 'in' to selling them on these two kits and some more. Keep a steady supply of the classic Fords for starters. '32 5 window coupe '32 roadster '49 Mercury coupe Reissue them every five years instead of the 'big wait' 10 years. They are sort of doing a pretty good job right now just missing a few of the biggies. '
  11. ' why all of the posts about the Monogram, the Revell and even the Aurora '32's? ' They are inspirational suggestions.Good box art. Last one showed how a '32 Phaeton would look good with a Hemi in it. Just build it like the cover. It will look plenty cool. Early and mid fifties custom/hot rod style. Custom enamel color with pinstripes and down the road you go! Lots of builders kit bash or you can use parts in kit and get close to these other kits. These other pictures show the style not the exact car. '
  12. Whoops! Forgot the early Chrysler Hemi engine. The '32 Phaeton would be a good kit with that engine. Here's a pic of mid fifties early 60's kit with a Hemi.
  13. ' eBay ' New AMT kit would be better. Put the box art from the 'Blue' paint job kit on it.Make it a flat box for nostalgia. Add a Buick Nailhead engine and the flathead Ford with the overhead valve conversion heads. 60's wide ovals and Cragar SS mags. Throw in a full Carson top. Dual windshields. That extra one for backseat. Build it fendered or fenderless rod. New kit would be better.
  14. ' How is that yellow 27 T a "Bucket T kit"???' Haven't a clue where you got that from. Same message to AMT. Time to put the '27 T Touring and '32 Phaeton out again. We don't need a another bucket T kit. Open touring cars are a nice addition to coupes and roadsters. Call Autoworld store and leave word for the higher up's that 'I want my '27 T Touring and '32 Phaeton now!' 888 910 2889 They are Eastern time.Indiana.The Hoosier state.
  15. Neighborhood kid's big brother had a black primer painted Chevy shoebox 'high rider' gasser like. So yeah. They did exist.I don't know if they make catchy boxart.I think gleam and sparkle work a little better. Here's the Orange Crate. Yep. It's a sedan but you can do same thing to the Vicky.Pick a level of modification. Orange Crate should get the adrenalin going! Good engine choose for the Vicky would be Buick Nailhead or Cadillac.Unblown.
  16. ' the '32 Victoria' I guess you mean this. Could that boxart being any worse? That car needs a paint job! Hello AMT.Forget the R Rod box art.Put the oldest boxtop you have available on there! Also.Use the old flat box. The current R Rod crowd will figure it out and buy the kit anyhow. If you are motivated you can make a Li'l Coffin type show rod from this kit. Sure the Lil Coffin might have been a Sedan but close enough. About the 32 Phaeton. That builds into a nice stock touring car.Looks like there is room for the third row of seats. Makes a cool custom too.
  17. ' I might turn that into a jalopy ' There's someone getting into the spirit of things! Here's a picture to motivate you. Check out the half Carson top.AMT '50 ford is probably same era as this kit.Mid late 50's maybe early 60's. Also the whitewall tires.Dopey but authentic period hot rod items. Check out the rims. They made a comeback in the 90's.I guarantee nobody wanted anything that looked like that in the 80's. Engine looks like a Chevy 409.Don't see many of those in kits. That engine sort of got wiped out by the 427 and 396.
  18. Notice on box the front tires are called 'slims'. 60's and 70's the trend was to put wide ovals on bucket T's. Chrome hub caps are like in some of the Lindberg hot rod kits. '34 roadster pickup and T pickup 3in1. Hubcaps like that are '50's era dress up item. Check out the 'nerf bar' front bumper. THOSE are missing from a lot of the nostalgia reissues.Front and back. They come from dirt track cars that are push to start. Direct drive. No tranny.
  19. Here's a picture of a hot rod Ford touring car. You can do the same thing to an AMT '27 T or ''32 Ford. A fenderless would be like a surf buggy. There's a nice yellow one in the beginning of a beach movie.
  20. ' I was confused before I got here, so it worked out ok ' What are you confused about? Understanding women? How to make money? Why AMT won't put out the kit you REALLY want? I'm here to help.Ask away.
  21. Somebody else said '58 and I just went with it. '58 I think was a dual headlight version and looks nostalgic. I am getting a visual of a '58 custom Ford pickup with sort of bronze paint job with those panels in it. Maybe it was a Revell or Monogram kit.
  22. ' I believe this was issued within the last 10 years(but I could be wrong) ' You are correct. What I am saying to AMT is this. 'Enough with the Bucket T kits!' Here. This picture shows an early hot rod that looks a little 'dopey' but it shows how they were built once upon a time. Fenderless AMT '27 T and '32 touring cars have that 'jalopy' thing about them too.Just a fun rod!
  23. Here's some links to show what the stock versions mean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touring_car https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaeton_body https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torpedo_(car) Here's a picture of a big sport touring car.
  24. AMT has come out with 3 or 4 model T and model A kits the last 10 years but no touring car or phaeton. It's time to reisssue the '27 T touring car and '32 phaeton. Here's a picture of the kind of hot rod you can build with them.
  25. Goals. 'Tight fitting' body.Form follows function. The body will fit the frame in drawing. For a long time we were resisting 'tapered' frame.Wanted to keep it straight so it would build on the square. A tapered body and frame let you keep one theme style from front to back. No rounded nose and hood with squared off body and rear deck. So that leaves you with 'what style'?
