  1. I'll be there Saturday. I won't be in the model show, however.
  2. I know it's old but I keep cans for a long time, maybe you do, too.
  3. 3D woes continued. I noticed the cab has acquired a noticeable "smile" when viewed from the front and rear. Because I have so much wrapped up in this, I removed the offending parts, sanded certain edges, and was able to re-assemble the cab minus the smile. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures. If the cab acquires any more deformities, you will never see it in the BUILT section. I will never buy a 3D printed item in the gray resin again, I have finally learned my lesson. I have had no issues with items printed in white or tan. If I can save this cab, I still have three others that cannot be saved. No more gray. Ever.
  4. I learned my lesson very early in the game, and stopped buying from him years ago.
  5. The Sunrunner grille is not entirely correct, as it's missing the gap between the grille and the surround. Still, it's the only kit option.
  6. Good looking print. Thank you for your offer, but one is enough for me. Storage of builts is very limited.
  7. Mostly kitbashed and scratchbuilt. There is a thread in the WIP section if you want to see the buildup process. It's still not quite done (no horn and other little details) but I'm putting it up as done for now, I have other thing I want to do.
  8. Great minds think alike! That's really cool!
  9. I'm still working on this one. Here's what I've got right now. I'll get better shots when/if I finish this.
  10. I've been plugging away at the Mack. The body is ready for paint, and the interior is done except for some detailing.
  11. I've got this Mack looking pretty good...hope it stays that way! If not, you may hear from me. Very generous of you to offer!
  12. I appreciate your input. I can afford a 3D printer, but I simply don't have the room. My house is bursting at the seams. I'd also like a paint booth, but same thing. I still live in my first starter home and never traded up. Plus side is it's paid for, and cheap to heat, cool, and operate. Down side...no room for expansion. I am close to retirement, and I don't want to screw that up with any new purchases like buying a home. From what I do know about 3D printing, I'd tend to agree with all of your observations.
  13. I can't even see items in 1/32! Amazing work! I don't know if this will show up in 1/32, but the center vertical grille bar is a little thicker than the other two. I don't know if it's possible to do in 1/32, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I also agree with you...casting parts is a skill I couldn't do without!
  14. Got the roof on. Looks like a cut-down Astro 95 windshield will work for this Mack. Windshield has blue tape on the back side to hold the two halves together for fitting.
  15. I don't know enough about it to say. I have come to notice all of my issues come with gray resin. I don't know if the color matters, but the gray is the only resin I've had curl, and even then, not always.
  16. The basic interior is done, and the basic top is ready to add. So far, it looks as though this is going to work.
  17. Can I ask what color the resin is? I realized all of my warp issues comes from 3D resin that is gray.
  18. I have a friend who has printed several items for me, all excellent. I had some parts printed for a truck project, and they all curled up, too. I don't know why, and neither does he. I was able to force the parts straight by gluing them to a flat surface and casting them in resin. I just wonder if the 3D resin technology needs to catch up with the amazing fidelity these printers can achieve.
  19. CVN 76...The Ronald Reagan? Should be one cool model!
  20. Love it! I like the Byrd Livery. I'm going to go with Jones Transfer. Your work is inspirational. I like this truck!
  21. Looks great! I just started one, myself. From what I can see, I prefer the interior in yours! Well, on to Under Glass!
  22. I purchased this 3D printed Mack 700. Like all too many 3D printed offerings, it was rubbery and began to curl up. I cut the top off because it was sinking. I'll replace it with styrene. The cab is very thick, and I imagine it will hold it's shape. The dash started to curl up, so I installed a length of piano wire to hold it straight. I've never had an issue with Too Many Projects cars, but my other 3D purchases run about 50/50 they'll be too soft and curl. Well, I want a Mack, so I'll just fix what I must. I wanted to use as little of the interior as possible, so I'm basing a new interior on the CO-4070A kit. The only 3D printed part I'll carry over in the interior is the dash portion. I only buy 3D printed stuff when I absolutely MUST have it. My models are all in climate controlled areas, so I don't know why I have this problem so often.
  23. Looks nice. The extra effort paid off. I notice you did the inner wheel wells aluminum. Many people miss that. I really like the hitch detail, and the cab gas tank is a nice touch. I really like the AMT kit, and yours looks great. I went a little different route with this one:
  24. I bought one of their car kits, and after a few months, it curled up. I've been hesitant to try again. On the plus side, it was decent looking.
  25. Every time I looked at this model on the shelf, those cuts in the grille surround bothered me. I finally couldn't stand it anymore. I removed the cab and re-engineered the hinge point on the cab to allow a complete, unmolested grille. I made a new grille. The shifter still fits through the opening on the bottom of the cab. I lost the working lift pistons, but it was a small price to pay for a far more pleasing grille area. I'm much happier with it now.
